Hey everyone.
I was finally able to make a tribute to my FAVORITE vampire film ever Near Dark. This is a montage that has elements of a trailer in it - soundbytes, VO's, sound FX, etc.. It offers an overall look at the film and also focuses on the love story between Caleb/Mae.
Set to the 80's rock song "Beast Inside You" by Autograph

Thanks for the awesome feedback Lane!
I had a feeling you would dig this video. Near Dark is my favorite vampire film. I actually wanted to make a tribute for it for years, but just finally got around to it. The song is awesome huh? It took me FOREVER to find. It is off the Fright Night soundtrack. The problem with that is that it is OOP and was only released on tape. The other problem is that it is not on any of Autograph's CD's. It was written and performed specifically for Fright Night. After years of searching, I finally managed to track down an MP3. I had to edit the crap out of the song though because there are parts in it I really dislike. So to get the song to flow better I had to cut it down.
Thanks for the compliments on my editing in this one, and about the soundbytes. I wanted it to have somewhat of a trailer feel hence the sound FX.
Thanks again man.

(I posted this on your main thread first btw, I posted it here as well just in case you prefer to respond here, lol)
Near Dark
LOL I've never seen this movie before or even heard of it (must be a cult classic or something? lol) but I loved the video bro. The 80's music choice was a perfect fit and gave the vid a great humorous feel throughout, adding a lot to its enjoyment.:D
First, LOL that's Nathan from Heroes!:rotfl: Man that guy really disappeared off the face of the earth after making this movie didn't he. And hey it's Frank Black from Millenium too, haha Millenium was an awesome show. On an aside, all of Chris Carter's series were great -- I especially loved Harsh Realm, can't believe they axed it after only 9 eps. Crazy people. But my theory is that the main hero was too much like Neo and that the show was heading too much in the same direction of The Matrix story, so they decided if they couldn't be original they wouldn't be at all, lol.
On to your video:
- 006, hey another familiar face, lol I remember this dude best from his hilarious role in True Lies. Loved this scene here, and it was just great with the music, lol. (I also remember him a lot from Aliens -- "Somebody said "aliens", she thought they said "illegal aliens" and signed up." Aliens also had Millenium's Frank Black, it's funny to see them together again here.)
- that dude/woman/girl/boy (? not sure  ) dancing on the bar @ 010 was hilarious with the music, haha great stuff Vyperbro
- loved the overlay @ 013 with the song lyrics. Who's the evil one lurking in the night btw, the Flying Man or the blond girl who kinda reminds me of the crazy chick from Supernatural S1? lol
- loved cowboy Patrelli @ 15 "lurking" around that chick, looking to get some no doubt:cool:
- 021 was probably my favorite part of the whole vid, the look on Nathan's face here after getting bit was just priceless with the song man, lmao. Perfect timing/placement, and of course perfect and hilarious scene choice for the "it (the evil) gets inside of you" lyrics, haha
- the True Lies guy's face @ 27 was a great choice for "a terror"
- 031, wow a young Frank Black, lol he got to be a badass here eh? Lol great soundbite, and love his "battle scarred" face
- 039-41, loved how you intercut the scene of "Little Dick" from True Lies fooling around with the gun, awesomely done with the song:cool:
- 042, hey now that's John Connor's deadbeat mom from T2! LOL, "Wolfy's fine, honey. Wolfy's just fine. Where are you.":rotfl: (Arnie: "Your foster parents are dead. Let's go." ) Perfect placement/timing with the song of the quick head-turn here, gotta love it.:D
- the in-and-out overlay @ 110 looked spectacular, beautiful stuff man!
- Nathan drooling @ 114 was funny, lol
- the girl's line @ 121 "You have to learn to kill" was so corny, LOL so B Movie. Loved that you put it in and how you grouped all the "killing" lines together like that, haha. (The wipe to flying man whining about not wanting to kill was great, lol.)
Hilarious video Ryan, really enjoyed it even without knowing the movie. I still can't get over Nathan being in this movie (and your video), that was a great surprise. Too funny bro.

Wow Xander!
Thanks for the awesome feedback bro. I knew that you would get a kick out of this video. The subject of 80's stuff is always a funny one when it comes to us. I especially thought you would like the song in the context of the video. You should definately check out the movie though. My favorite vampire film hands down. The film is more of an original in the genre. It is just as much an action flick as it is horror.
I am a huge Millenium fan myself. I own all the seasons on DVD. I have mixed feelings about S3, just because S1 and S2 had a different feel to them. I can't decide which season I like more S1 or S2.
Yeah Adrian "Patrelli" Pasdar stars in this movie. It is funny because everyone that has seen the video, especially people on YouTube refer to AP as Nathan now.. LOL
- Bill Paxton freaking owns in this movie dude. His best role in my opinion. Another great BP film that he actually directed is Frailty. One of my favorite movies.
- The dance I threw in just because it cracked me up. Yeah Joshua Miller has to be one of the ugliest kids I have ever seen. It took me a second first time around watching the movie to see if it was a boy or girl.. LOL
- Yeah I cracked up over .13 as well. I tried to establish that Mae (blonde) was a villain in the opening segment. But with the lyrics and Caleb lurking around, it almost looks as if he is a sexual predator.. LOL
- Getting inside you was one of my favorite too with the bite. It took a little bit of doing to get the timing the way I wanted to.
- Thanks for mentioning the intercutting with BP @ .39-.41. For some reason it just had the right feel to it with the music.
- LOVED your T2 "Wolfy" reference.. I still LMAO at that comment. Yeah Kathryn Bigalow (the woman who directed) was actually married to James Cameron at the time the film was made. That is why the cast of Aliens is in the film, and there is also a part where Caleb is walking in down, and you see Aliens on the title marquee.
- Thanks for complimenting on the audio/VO segment. Worked hard on the sound levels.
Thanks again Xander. Your review was awesome and very funny as usual!

I'm still wondering why I haven't even heard of it before now...lol it's been around for quite a while....it never even comes on tv...?

Personally I'm loving S3 so far (I haven't seen it all yet though, only the first 10 eps). I never watched Millenium when it aired, I took a chance on it when the dvds went on sale, lol. I wasn't a big fan of S2, I thought it was way too dark, and I didn't like the arc of the season at all. The focus on the group and stuff, and that bald dude, wasn't really interesting for me (way too much of the bald dude, lol). What I loved about S1 was Frank working with the police to solve crimes, something they did way less of in S2. Instead they did a lot of stuff about the group, the bald dude and that blond chick with powers of her own. Season 3 is a breath of fresh air after S2's downward spiral (in my view), where I could just feel the life getting sucked out of the series. S3 so far feels "brighter" or more upbeat (if such a thing can be said about this show:lol: ). I love how they paired Frank with that female FBI agent -- a tried and proven Mulder/Scully dynamic, lol -- it feels more like S1 again when he was helping the police and stuff. But I haven't seen the rest of the season yet so I'll reserve my final judgements, but I definitely wasn't a fan of the second season ("the season that almost ended it all", to quote myself, lol).

Yeah he'll forever be Nathan Patrelli now, as he was essentially a nobody before Heroes. heh

Bill Paxton, lol yeah that's his name. And yeah I could tell just from the scenes in your vid that he was great in the movie.:D I haven't seen Frailty btw.
Yeah Joshua Miller has to be one of the ugliest kids I have ever seen.
