You know I sit around and I think to myself how great it would be to see a Superman movie based off Smallville's continuity. This is kinda of hard for me to write because although I have been a loyal Smallville fan and watch it like clock work I had more than a few misgivings on how they retold the story. And as time passed it worked for me. I was able to still love my Chris Reeves Superman movies and see them and Smallville as alternate realities. And in the end I really love they way they took Smallville. And to me the new Superman movies will never do as well as they could because of Smallville. People like me watch Smallville and all the new folks that really didn’t know who Superman was before Smallville look at the story of Smallville as the new origins of Superman. I really think the Superman movies would be as big as the Spiderman movies if they took Smallville to the big screen. Why Tom was not cast as Supes blows me away. And I wonder if we as fans could pull a Jericho type campaign and get the WB to see that the story of Smallville is the way to go reinvigorating the Superman franchise.
Sorry folks been up way too long and in definite need of coffee but this is something that has been bothering me for a long time and wanted to know if others felt the way I do.
One other thing I would like to bring up and see what other people think is wouldnt it be cool if Smallville took a page from Heroe's and had a Smallville: Justice files episodes while the show is in Hiatus mid season? This would keep the viewers solid and we could see eps of the Justice league guys off around the world tackle 33.1 installations. Just a thought.

I have always wanted them to make a smallville movie. That would be a great idea. Or atleast put TM as Supes.

Too late. Theres already a Superman film franchaise and Smallville is winding down towards its end.

All I am saying is they should do like they are with the new Hulk film and start over and use Smallville as the template. I think it would make everyone happy.

No it wouldnt. Superman Returns got high critical reviews and Brandon Routh gets alot of praise on the top Superman sites; Supermanhomepage.com, SHH, Bluetights.net. Superman MOS (2009) is being penned right now.
Continuing Smallville into the films would be a mistake. Even Gough at SDCC, when asked why Lex, Lois and Jimmy wouldnt recognize Clark's identity since they know him very well at this point without the glasses and disguise, commented that we will never see the future that Smallville leads into....so they wont have to deal with such issues.
Smallville as a film franchaise would be way too convoluted.

what does Superman MOS mean?

Superman Man of Steel. Its the working sequel title.
If they wanted to reboot the franchaise, even though there are no plans to do such now, its more likely theyll start over with new actors and a new story; not Smallville.

Well you mentioned the glasses and the whole recognizing him thing. Well IMHO this was the one thing about Superman mythos that has bothered me the most. Your telling me crack reported Lois Lane would never be able to put two and two together? I mean with todays tech facial recognition software it would be easy to id ol Supes. So to me this is the perfect oportunity to update the story line and come up with a new believable way to hide his identity. Just one example even though it was kinda hoaky in Lois and Clark they used the hologram Supes while Clark stood down below in the crowd. I mean the writers today could come up with something. I think its a mistake to have two competing Superman stories out there.

Exactly.. but WB considers Smallville 'the adventures of young Clark Kent' not Superman.
So theres really no competition. Superman will continue in theatres and Smallville will come to its conclusion sometime soon.
It seems fair.
FYI I thought the dual identity thing in SR was handled the most believeable out of all the franchaises. He came off like 2 different people; faded into the background as CK and was iconic and heroic as Superman.
