Most likely there will be two more seasons, but no more than that.

Why was Tom Welling signed for three more years?

That doesnt really mean there will be 3 more seasons it just means that by contract, if they decide to do more, he has no choice but to do it.
Basically hes their B*tch for 3 more years before he wins hes freedom

Smallville is still my favorite show but god I hope they don't do 3 more.
IMO they should stop after season 7. No Lana, no Lex...dumb.
Season 8 might be ok but def. not 9

Two years is a good number, don't want them to do one too many crap episodes, although i don't know how SV without Lex could work...

Yeah personally I LOVE Smallville, its my favorite show, but even if they end it this season, I think it will be about right. This should be the year when it all comes together....they can only stretch out his destiny for so long.

Well, they are shooting for eight seasons... I think they'll get eight seasons.

If they do eight have Clark travel and see the world and it should be a closure year. Having no Lex and especially Lana may be a good thing. I do love Michael but he could do a guest role.

You know, thats not a bad idea. and season 8 could show Clark doing all his training and learning how to become Superman basically.

Most definatly! Great minds think alike.
Not only that tptb could actually find a way for him to become fond of Lois more and adore her like he does in all the other form of continuity would be great. And also find a way for him to become the Clark Kent that wears glasses and is dorky and what not.
Because basically Clark Kent is the deguise. I loved the way that David Carradine explained Superman and CK in Kill Bill Volume 2.

Oh yeah! I LOVED that! Its my favorite way that superman/clark kent is defined. CK is the mask because he was BORN Superman. and The dorkiness and cowardness he portrays is the way he sees the human race. Brilliant!
But yeah now that im thinking about it, they really do need an 8th season. Because they DO need to have him grom more fond of Lois and what not and if they do everything THIS season, its gonna seem rushed. It needs to stretch out more. And like YOU said "trying2b" They need to show Clark trying to discover how to fool people, and developing Clark Kent the reporter. In some stories ive read, they say Clark Kent studied many different acting techniques to develop the CK we know in Classic versions
"According to the 2004 limited series Superman: Birthright, young Clark Kent studies the [U]Meisner Technique (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meisner_technique) so that he can seamlessly move between his Clark and Superman personas. As Clark, he drops his head, lowers his shoulders, bends his back forward a little bit and talks in a lighter tone, while as Superman, he stands straight and talks in a deeper tone."
I also wanna see them work something uin about his glasses. One version of the glasses theory I like is "The 2004 series Superman: Birthright also explained that Superman's eyes are an unnaturally vivid shade of blue. Clark's glasses diffuse the color and make his eyes appear more human in that identity."

I think after S7, there should be no more episodes. I think SV would go downhill from there. Already during the last seasons, the episodes were either hits or misses. There were excellent ones, while the fillers and others hit a new low. I believe this would occur more often if SV went to Season 8, especially with no Lana and no Lex.

That's because it's hard to write for Lana now. She should be a thing of the past not an every episode sighting. The writers are having trouble coming up with good storylines. Basically she has no purpose now except for maybe a friend to Clark that he goes and talks to once in a blue moon. Chloe on the other hand is the side kick role that Lana was supposed to be.

S8 should be non-stop follow up to S7

Maybe like half a season like a mini series or a 3 part TV movie
