What was it that made you watch smallville for the first time? And what did you like about the show that made you want to keep watching?

For me, I could go on for hours about what made it great to watch lol

But for me it was an accident, I was in the middle of some homework, and i turned on my TV hoping to catch the last bit of another show on E4, when i just remember seeing some guy super speeding around a country lane, and then next minute throwin over a table to grab a weird looking artifact.
Yup, the first episode I watched was 'transference' an still today it remains my favourite episode lol.

But how did all of you first get into smallville? And what were your first impressions of the show?

First episode I saw was some reporter that reminded me of Rita Skitter in H.P. and she turned into water and drowned people. And then this beautiful woman declared to another beautiful woman that she still loved Clark. (Hydro) I was thinking - Clark Kent? My son had to explain to me what the show was about. I had never heard of it before.

I saw a few more episodes and wondered how all these soap opera type relationships had come to pass. Why was Lois Lane making out with this very handsome Green Arrow Guy? and Why was Clarks supposed teenage girlfriend marrying Lex when it is so obvious, even to a new viewer, that she doesn't trust him? And who is Chloe anyway? And what’s up with Clark pining away all the time?

In search of answers I ran down to my local library and devoured Seasons 1-4 in a matter of a few weeks. Sometimes watching 4 or 5 episodes a day. And then when I went to check out Season 5 it was backlogged! After waiting 3 weeks I said forget it and went out and bought season 5 on eBay.

Haven’t missed an episode since.

Last year i went to see Superman Returns with my church group and about 10 days later i was flipping through channels and i came upon it I heard the name Clark Kent so that got me interested The episode was Onyx after the beginning so i saw this villain Lex that only seemed natural i thought at first it was some superman tv movie until i never saw him change into tights and at first I thought Lana was Lois and so on but when i saw it again the next night ( yes one of the local channels were i live in plays it twice a week , on the weekend) after that i went to the video store to find what they had they had the 3rd season so i watched that then i slowly but surely found the rest of the seasons online and saw them and i watched the six season from start to finish

I came in when I saw a preview clip of Clark telling Chloe in the hospital that he's really an alien. I thought, "how neat is that?" I liked Superman as a kid, so I Netflixed Seasons 1-4 (I would watch entire DVDs in one sitting). I was completely fascinated.

I have all 5 seasons on DVD and both of the CD's I am always posting on this site has well as the CW lounge. Lol, honey, I know exactly what you mean! I had to cram in seasons 1-5 in a matter of about 2 months myself while keeping up with season 6.

My first contact w/Smallville was back in the day when it premeired; I remember the promos had my family mildly intrigued - a show about Superman? that's kinda cool. Uh, unfortunately, we really didn't like the Pilot. None of us knew enough about Supes to understand who the heck the Lana girl was and the whole freak of the week storyline was too bizarre for the unprepared. (we don't watch a lot of tv. lol) It all just seemed too teeny too, even tho I was one myself.

Anyway, flash ahead to last summer with the release of Superman Returns. I watched it and although I had iffy feelings about the movie itself it sparked a huge interest in Superman for me as I realized that the mythos was so much richer than I'd ever known as a kid; I rented the old Supes films I-IV that same night and fell in love. :D When my college roommate heard about my quest to learn all things Super she casually suggested that I start watching "Smallville".

I'd completely forgotten about that show but was like, hunh, now I know who that Lana girl is and that AlMiles didn't make up the town name or anything so I'll give it another try. So I borrowed the first disc of season 1 from the library and um yeah, I still hated "Pilot", the teeny-ness and the freaks.  I was still not ready!

A month or so goes by with me resorting to watching the cartoon Supes/Bats movie, reading early 1940s Supes comics and delving into the history of the whole phenomenon. I hear from another Lois fan that ED is the best Lois on screen; she gives me a list and so I watch the first disc of seaon 4. And fall in love with Clois! :D The whole Lana witch thing etc goes wayy over my head -and seems really boring- so I only watch the Lois episodes of season 4 up until Commencement.

Commencement/Arrival was just sooooo awesomely Supermanly with the Fortress of Solitude, the alien ship, and Zod's disciples! Then and there I was like "gosh darnnit, this IS Superman! I'm going to have to go tackle the Clana-heavy beginnings and watch all seasons properly." :p

So I did. And now I can happily say that I love "Pilot" and even a good chunk of Clana. :) It's a really good show, once you give it a real chance.

I'd stopped on Smallville before, while channel surfing, to oogle Tom Welling but I never lasted through commercial.

I don't know why but for some reason during Season 3 Lex and Lionel were interesting enough that I stopped. So I think I watched Shattered and Asylum and kept on watching to see how everything would come out. The Lex/Lionel conflict in that season kept me watching.

Then I had to know what was going on. Why is Lex here? Are/Were he and Clark friends? Coming in on Season 3 I was very confused. So I bought the first season DVD's and those wonderful cliffhangers kept me coming back for more. So I bought and watched Seasons 1 and 2 during the hiatus before Season 4, watched 4 while it was on air... I was in love!

Well'p, here's my story. I never used to be big into Superman before the new millennium. I casually caught the movies on cable or curious video renting, but not much beyond that and some cartoon watching of Superfriends and the Bruce Timm animated series. Upon the time the series premiered, I caught vague glimpses of the advertising it had, as well as a scene of the Pilot if I remember right (the one where Lex has just finished fencing and talks to Clark about the friendship they'll have). I wasn't much interested and didn't have that much interest in Superman to begin with.

THEN...Then came the TBS reruns of Lois & Clark. That show had me so hooked, the whole Superman dynamic had me intrigued like never before. I loved that series so much that my heart was open to Superman! I loved the Lois/Clark relationship, Perry and his Elvis loving ways, the rivalry with Luthor and Intergang, New Krypton, etc. Fast-forward to Fall of 2004, commercials for the Smallville Season 3 release were popping out on TV. I started to remember about this show and said "Yeah, Superman's origins!" That commercial really did intrigue me much more than the "Pilot" scene I glimpsed years earlier, especially when Kara/Lindsey proclaimed to Clark "I'm from Krypton". I then started to catch some of the new airing Season 4 episodes, some of the earliest I can remember were "Bound" and soon enough started on reruns of older seasons on ABC Family IIRC. I was so fascinated with this new interpretation (even thought it may be in continuity with L&C at one point, lol), I got the Season 3 release for Christmas and was hooked like a crack addict.

Ever since then, with the exceptions of some noticeable road-bumps and DRAGGGGGING in Season 6, I've loved this show even more than Lois & Clark. I have all first 5 seasons, including the Canadian-only release of the Pilot and Metamorphosis; simply so I could have that extra interaction between Clark and Lex after the bridge incident. I got the Smallville Visual Guide and a few books, just enjoying the series so much. Well, that was my story!

I grew up on a farm in Arkansas in a smalltown, across the field from the "girl next door". Sound familiar? Yep, i could totally relate to CK's life in SV...minus the whole superspeed/superstrength thing and meteor rock!

A friend had S1 on DVD and swore it was the greatest thing. I took it, watched it, and became obsessed by it. Bought up every season and jumped in on S6.

That guy was right....it is the greatest thing.

Before last summer, I knew absolutely nothing about Superman. Right before Superman Returns came out in theaters, I decided to rent Superman 1 and 2, and I loved both of the films. I then watched Superman Returns, and the movie was amazing. After that, I decided to give Smallville a try. The first couple of discs of season 1 were difficult to get through, but the show got a lot better later into the season. I was hooked!
