Just a question--do you think the CW would be smart to make a reality show where a bunch of people would enter a competition using their ideas and be judged on those ideas where the winner would get to become a Smallville writer for an episode?

I think this would be good because many Smallville fans would watch it...and we all know that Smallville is one of the highest rated shows on the CW. What do you think? Good idea for the CW to do, or a bad one?

Kind of like a live Kryptonsite message board.

Think of the debates they would have!

I know. Just imagine if they also would have a hotline where people could call in and make it interactive. It would certainly be interesting.

Meh, no thanks, there are too many reality shows as it is.

I would not want a show. That just wouldn't work.

However, if they held a nationwide contest, and then selected a winner to write an episode for S7 that would be great. They should have Smallville fans send in fanfics they write, and decide on the best one. Grandprize winning a trip to the set, meeting the cast, and writing an episode. Runner ups could get DVD's, merchandise, etc.. I know for a fact that there are fans out there, including people on this site that could turn out better episodes than the ones we have been getting.

You know, v7, that's a really good idea. And the way the show is structured, it's possible to drop in an episode that doesn't necessarily further the arc of the story -- it could be anything. It leaves endless possibilities for ideas.

....If it was nationwide then there would be one kick ass episode because us fans know what we want to see, if there actually was one, then I would recommend you to do an episode

If the writers really wanted to use fans ideas they know where to find them. To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if they checked out the fanfics on websites like this and if they came across something they liked if they would contact the creator of the idea.

As for the idea of the reality show I think you would have to have a unhealthy obsession with Smallville to actually have a interest in a show like that sorry man.

I can tell by a lot of your posts that you would like a shot at writing my episode for this show and I think your best shot at it is keep writing the fanfics you work on here and try not to stray too far from from the formula they already have in motion.

Yeah, what fans want to see would really make for a good episode (sarcasm intended). Let's see, Clark goes to the fortress, puts on the Superman suit, comes back and dumps Lana without ever looking back and gets a job at the DP, Chloe becomes Lois and Lois dies, Lex becomes evil and starts sending super-freaks after "Superman", Jonathon comes back from the dead and he and Martha have some necrophilic loving, Pete returns from Wichita sporting Old Spice and marries Lana, Lionel dies a horrible death at the hands of Lex, Lex looks at the camera and says, "I'll get you Superman muhaha!" roll credits.

I don't have as much faith in the fans as some of you do, clearly. ;)

I think it would be good because it would add some new storylines and stuff like that, but I don't think anyone would watc hit.

I love Smallville but I wouldn't even watch it.

Well....obviously the winner would get a filler and someone with talent at writing and knowledge of Smallville could create better episodes than the fillers we get.....why dont you just check out fan fics

Because too many of the fanfics I've seen degrade into fanboy/fangirl wet dreams that would never work on a practical level for this time of show with the budget it has. There are talented writers out there that can work within the constraints that would be necessary, sure, but I don't trust about 90% of the fan population to do that.

Well, as far as budget goes, if the idea would be too expensive, they could always trim it down to fit the budget. Whether or not it would still be good after trimming could be part of the competition and be what filters out plots that would be way too expensive during the competition. Perhaps ideas like that could be saved for a seperate project with its own budget, like a Smallville TV movie if such a thing ever happens.
