So I've actually been "working" on this video since December. Basically, I almost finished it and then just forgot about it. So today, while looking through my external, I found it and decided to finish the three seconds I had left to edit.
This is a House/Cameron video/spot set to the song "It Ends Tonight" by the All-American Rejects. It's basically their story in the first season, when I actually really liked their relationship.
I cut this video on Sony Vegas.

And remember, feedback is brilliance/great/excellent/godly/nice/the Holy Grail/worth its weight in gold/amazing.

Xia,
I didn't know that you edited videos. I have been reading feedback from you for so long, that it almost seemed weird to see a video from you. Now you know how much I like H/C and this is one of the few AAR songs I actually like. With that being said this was an awesome video.
Overall I was very impressed. REALLY AWESOME pacing. I thought you edited to the song very nicely and I really enjoyed your use of b/w for flashbacks and the black fades to the piano chords. Awesome scene selection too. One thing I really liked about this video was how much you made House seem saddened and depressed over Cameron, when in actuality they never had a relationship together. Speaking from experience, H/C vids are some of the hardest to edit because it is a relationship based all on glances, sexual tension, etc..
My favorite parts were :
- Can't explain myself at all @ .21. For some reason I have always really enjoyed that moment from the Pilot. The look on House's face matches up perfectly.
- The House flashback seqment on the field starting @ .23. I loved how you turned that scene into a depressed flashback moment, when in actuality it had nothing to do with Cameron.. :D My favorite part of the video.
- Cameron leaving House's apartment @ .42 for "Maybe it's best you leave me alone". Another great lyric match.
Now my only two gripes were :
- The shot of the show's credits @ .17. How I got around this for that scene was using the pan/crop tool to scale the scene up and position it so that it got rid of the credits.
- The ending to me was just a tad bit abrupt with the song. Even though you faded it out, it just seemed to cut off too early, like there was more of the song to go. Didn't have a natural ending sound to it.
****************
But overall awesome video!
You should take off your reviewer's hat every so often to cut more videos. Especially since you have Vegas. How long have you been cutting on Vegas for? I am looking forward to your next creation.

HOLY CRAP! Thanks for the awesome detailed feedback, Ryan. Really made my day. :D
Yeah. I've always really been interested in editing, but I never really got around to doing it much. Plus, I feel so dang intimidated around here with all the amazing video editors that I don't want to post anything that I'm not 100 percent sure that I like.
Thanks for the comments about the pacing. I'm really big about the pacing of a video, especially making sure that it's not too slow. I'm glad that you liked it.
I really appreciate your kind words about the scene selection and about the lyric matching. I really had a limited amount of material to really work with since, you're right, House and Cameron don't really have a lot of ship-y type moments.
The flashback on the field is actually one of my favorite moments, too. I didn't want it to be too depressing like a shot of him detoxing, and the one on the football is a nice long shot that, when coupled with the right black and white shot, looks like he's thinking about Cameron.
Um, your two gripes:
- Yeah. I didn't really notice that until I had already posted the video on Youtube and KSite. I'll remember it and notice it in the future.
- I heard a lot of complaints about the length of the song. I'll remember to make it longer or cut it better next time.
As for cutting more videos, I'm working on a Heroes video right now. Um, I'm also hoping that I can do some sort of Smallville video soon without looking like I have no idea what I'm doing so I can get feedback in the Smallville Creative Endeavors section.
Thanks for the feedback once again! Really made my day!

No problem Xia. I figure it is the least that I can do. You write novels of feedback, everytime you leave a review. :)
In regards to the length of the song, I thought the length of the video was fine. The song just didn't have a natural sounding end to it, like it was forced to end early. So I think the length of the video was perfectly alright. I have actually gotten used to liking shorter videos way more than I used to. I think you just needed to go further into the song and take a chunk where the song ended more naturally and put it in where you ended the song.
Audio editing is probably the most underrated aspect of vidding in my opinion. If you can get seamless at audio editing, it only makes you that much better. Especially when you start to realize that it gets harder and harder to take up a whole song due to lack of material. That is why I usually try to keep all my vids @ 3 1/2 minutes or under. Usually in the 2:15-2:45 range.
Once again, great vid. :)

I definitely agree about the audio editing. I've always liked shorter videos; unless the video is going fast enough, my focus tends to slide after around the 3:00 mark. :D And it's definitely hard to get totally seamless audio editing. I've noticed that not many people do it around here, but when they do, it's either really fantastic or really noticeable. So I'd really like to fit into the fantastic category, especially since I never really liked editing huge, long videos, anyway.
Really, the big reason why I cut this song was because I knew that I wasn't going to have enough material for this song, especially being a House/Cam vid.
Thanks again! Really appreciate it!
