I'm just now learing Sylar didn't get Eden's powers. I missed the fact that she killed herself. I originally thought he was making her shoot herself.
What threw me off was that every now and then Sylar would talk in the demonic voice like Eden would use when she was using her power.
I think he had that power all along though. In Peter's dream when he's at the police station he dreams about Sylar and Sylar uses creepy demonic voice then.

That was a great power to get wasted :(
Peter didn't get that one either.

Ok, I just went on Heroes Wiki and dug out some details.
Peter comes into contact with Eden in "Collision". Peter goes to Mohindar's apt. to tell him he has abilities. Eden is there.
So, while we believe Sylar does not have her abilities (although, that is an assumption) we know that Peter has been exposed to her and therefore could use her abilities.
Also, I saw on Peter's character page on Wiki that the demonic voice that Sylar and Peter uses from time to time is just for "cooleness factor" and is not an ability.

In the novel that came out after that episode, Noah Bennett went to Eden's father and told him his daughter died a hero by stopping Sylar from getting a power that would make him nearly unstoppable. He didn't use those exact words, but that's the gist. She forced the gun on herself.
