was wondering why Peter didn't just fly or use Hiro's power and blow up in some desert or another safe time in history.

Peter said when he turned to (cant remember who) "I cant do anything"

maybe Peter really can only use one power at a time.

I think his Focus was on "don't blow up"

He couldn't concentrate to use another power...remember that he activates his power through a certain emotion...the whole reason why he was blowing up because of his uncontrollable emotion
However, what I didn't get was that he still could have had Claire shoot him...killing him would stop him from blowing up...and later they could take the bullet out so that he can regenerate...???

Yes, that detail bothered me too. I mean, I understand that the whole "theme" of "brotherly love vs. brotherly rivals" was a main point of the season, but Clarie had a gun, she could have shot him and all would be well, including Peter.
I didn't think the fact that Peter couldn't use any other powers was made clear. "I can't do anything" to me implied "I can't control this nuclear thing".
I think it's muddy to imply that Peter can't use his other abilities in that case because it's never been made clear at a previous point on the show. I understand that was what was meant, but I don't think it was clear enough.
I really had trouble understanding why Nathan had to fly Peter away when Peter could fly away. I know why they wrote it that way now, but I wasn't happy with it. I know it's all contrived, but it felt a bit too forced.

Yeah that bothered me too.. He could have been shot or flew on his own. Wack. Cool scene tho.

man you guys don't get it, thank goodness you don't write for tv.
That was one of the best endings for a season finale since Smallville S1 for me! Incredible writing & Character development.
I hope Lost finale is just as good as Heroes.

It was actually kind of disappointing, and how exactly do we not get it?

Lies, Peter can use more than one ability at a time, in " Five years gone" he used telekinesis and invisibility at the same time. ( He pull a glass with telekinesis while he was invisible.

Look i don't know why it was "dissapointing" for you but let me try to put this show & the finale into contex.
The show is called "Heroes" so when in the finale everyone that is "GOOD" makes the right decisions to make sure they stop "EVIL" from happening/succeeding they become eachothers "heroes". Good prevails!
All the characters were developed & served a purpose and even though we were left w/some questions, those questions were posed late & serve to lead the show onto next season. eg; Mama P's power, sylar, & of course Hiro's trip to the past.
This show is unlike any on TV. It is deep, complex, but very satisfying. We came full circle on S1 and that is a lot to say about a show. Some shows leave more holes than they filled, i would say this show has filled more holes & left way less.
I'm sorry you were dissapointed but i very much loved it for the reasons i stated. I know some will say they wanted more Special FX, wanted to see the City explode, wanted Peter to fly by himself but then it wouldn't be RIGHT! It is about the Story, Characters, & Conclusion. And now it will be about "Generations" :D

Oh that's true. But then again, the invisibility did shut off almost right after the glass moved and we still don't know if that was just on purpose or if his switch to TK made the invisibility inactive. AND considering this was Future Peter we are talking about makes the whole thing kind of a moot point anyways. Future Peter has far better control of his powers then our Present Peter, so of course he got's all the cool tricks down.
The only reason I can think of why Peter didn't fly - other then he may or may not be willing to call up two powers at once - is that he was too focused on trying all he could to stop himself from blowing up. If Peter had stopped doing that for even a second while he concentrated on "FLY" then he might have just gone BOOM right then and there.
Also, Claire shooting Peter probably wouldn't have been a good idea. When Ted got shot, he immediatly started to hardcore freak out with his abilities - and that's a guy who kinda had a handle on them!!!

Wait, what? what's a zonie? Do you mean Arizona? I live within Peter's explosion radius

Peter says "I absorbed all his powers Nathan and now I can't do anything". It was too much, Claude told him his body doesn't know what to do with them all. Thats why he didn't fly on his own. Too much too fast too stressed he lost control.

I'm new here so bare with me :)
I think getting shoot at the brain is a bit different than getting a branch or a piece of glass stuck in your brain
maybe they thought if Claire shoot him, then the brain would be so damaged that he won't be able to regenerate ... that's the why there so many emotion involved in that scene

Yeah, big difference between something stuck in his brain and his brain being scrambled by a bullet...

Like I said in another thread, if he lost control of his radioactivity, how could you expect him to control flight?

I don't like all the people I come across complaining about how Peter couldn't just fly himself up there. Nathan had to do it. Peter said (almost exactly) "I can't control it. I can't do anything." And we know he absorbed Niki's strength, right? IF he got everyone else's (Micah, Molly, DL) at the same time (which I doubt) that'd certainly be enough excuse for an overload and an inability to control the one that sets off when angered (ie. fighting Sylar). If not, same deal; too hard to focus on suppressing the bomb to bring up his ability to fly at the same time without nuking at least a little of NYC (including our beloved heroes).
What I did have a problem with was Nathan hearing Claire and Peter from the air.
"Tell me there's another way!"
"There is no other way!"
*Nathan flies in from at least the other side of the building 200 feet away and maybe as many high*
"Yes, there is."
What the hell?! You heard them, Nathan? When did HE get super-hearing?

I beleive he can use more than one power at a time but (1) he was focusing on not blowing up and (2) doesn't have control of all his powers yet. If he did the season finale would have never happened. The using emotions thing is only because of his miniscule control over his abilities.

Of course he can, he used 2 in FYG.

Why does this argument keep appearing? Its in the dialogue. Just let it go. He wasn't in control.
As for Nathan's hearing, I think it was just a dramatic editing; even though we saw him flying close after the conversion, the flight is realy happening while they're talking.
