Didn't one of those Samurai look like Hiro's dad? Could that possibly be his power? Would explain why he knows "a thing or two about killing".

Yes we did. Hiro's dad told him not to go after Ando but Hiro defied him and did it anyways.

He was in the episode earlier, he gave Hiro the sword.

The samurai with the Symbol flag sure looked like Kaito to me.
