My mom noticed that Peter and Claire were wearing their seatbelts, but seeing as they are indestructable do they need them? Just a little amusing.

They could always try explaining the situation to the officer...

Or the cop could walk up to the car and not see anyone there!
I wonder if Peter could make the whole car invisible!

There are more reasons for wearing seatbelts than keeping you from harm in a wreck. Besides the obvious "Click it or ticket," motivation - not wanting to be delayed while dealing with some poor cop's unknowing distraction while they're trying to save the world - there's a control issue. Have you ever lost control of a car while you were NOT wearing your seatbelt? Try staying behind the steering wheel.
Geesh, if you want to see people really pick nits, go to the message board of a popular TV show some time.
