View Full Version : Was Jessica just a "personality"?

Here's a good question my Wife brought up. Was Jessica nothing more than a personality for Nikki? She related her "bad ass" side to Jessica, and thought she was the weak fragile one. But when she realized SHE really had the power...when she looked in the mirror, Jessica was gone.
What does everyone else think?

I think it was spilt personality..It probably started after Jessica died.
though who knows?

i think that nikki was just trying to find a way to justify what she had to do to take care of her son. a single mother will do anything for her child, and nikki didn't like the things she had to do. jessica was her sister and not her split personality, she wanted to take care of her sister like she always did. now that she dont need to worry bout micah jessica isn't needed anymore. nikki also found her own strengh there in the end to take care of things without jessica

I think Jessica was trying to make her strong, and when she did her job was done.
I also think that Jessica was just an after effect of Nikki's sister dying and the stress of having a son and a husband who wasn't there. I think that she was always in control of her power but that she was afraid of it and Jessica was the 'Hyde' of her personality to keep it in check and help her be strong.
At least that part of the future episode came true. Jessica is gone now - it's just Nikki now. I wonder how Nikki will deal with Jessica being gone. Still - I have to wonder about the tattoo........

I agree with chrisxs5, I was about to say the same thing. Jessica is really her older sister, and she just wanted to protect Niki, and now that Niki can protect herself, she doesn't need to stay anymore.

I think if she were to need her again then she would of course be back. So I dont think we have seen the last of her.

I will admit, while my wife thinks it's the alternate personality, the Tatoo throws me right off. My original theory of Jessica was that her "power" was to be able to possess bodies in death. OR she's not really "dead" and just in a coma somewhere. Now NIKKI's power is for sure super strength...we've seen that now.

thats been my theory all along...that Jessica could posess bodies......and now that she "taught" Nikki how to use hers.....

I don't know, Niki was the only one to see Jess. Let me just say that it was awesome Niki learning the SHE HAD DA POWER. :rotfl:

You forget that Parkman could hear them both at the same time though.

He didn't see her though. He only saw Jess, who was at the time in Niki. I think it was all in her head.

Nikki is her name, the name on her birth certificate right? So Jessica was the split personality brought on through her childhood trauma to take the place of her sister. To protect Nikki.
Jessica is not gone. But she has given Nikki dominance voluntarily. I think that's huge. I don't know if we'll ever see Jessica take charge against Nikki's will.
I'm guessing now she'll sort of be Nikki's Jimeny Cricket. LOL! She'll pop up to help Nikki access her inner strength (and physical strength).

I don't know. I don't think she really needs Jess anymore. she can use her strength by herself now.

:D Of course. :rotfl:
But maybe she might get lonely or something;
Niki: God I'm lonely.
..........................

Jess: Yo, whattup?
Niki: *freakin out*

Niki: Long time no see? uh.....What's happening?
Jess: oh, nothing much, I'm still.....dead. And in your head.
Niki: well thats nice.

Most would speculate that it is just merely a split personality, and it could be [anything]. But I am inclined to believe it is more of a supernatural thing. There is the RNA tattoo that shows suddenly up when Jessica takes over. Then when Parkman listens to the conversation between Jessica and Nikki he is distinguishes hearing two different entities or minds.

A split personality created to cope with her sister's death, their Father's problems, and the eventual development of her power. That's my idea anyways, but the show seems to support it 100%. I've been saying since day 1 that Jessica is not the spirit of her dead sister nor the only way she can access her power, but simply a personality she used to cope with it all and which she had no control over.
And re: Parkman. He hears thoughts, she would've been "talking to herself" in her head and that's what he heard.

Heres some deep stuff:
I think Nikki was the one to really die and Jessica is who we've been seeing all along. Jessica hated being the child her father loved less and created her "Nikki" side to feel validated.
...Next time on Dr. Phil!

Thats not a bad theory, but Jessica had a hard time controlling her power, like when she ripped of the door handle. I think that might be the biggest hint it really was her. Either way, the other is not dead, and we will see her later!

During the fight, Nikki looks at a broken mirror on the floor and Jessica says to her "That is not me!".
That is when Nikki kicks her butt across the room :D

:D yeah, 'cause she knew Jess was still in her.

I rewatched the episode and Nikki (Jessica wasn't in control) ripped the handle off the door on purpose. The guys that were chasing them were trying to come through that door and she ripped off the handle to save them time.

we have seen that the powers are all about genetics. the most likely scenario is that jessica had the ability of possession or perhaps astral projection. when she died, it was activated and she entered nikki. nikki's power was super-strength, but she was too weak mentally to use it. jessica was willing to use it and when she showed nikki that she was strong, jessica let nikki take control again.
i think either jessica has moved on(perhaps to another body??) or is now burried in nikki's subconscious, waiting til nikki needs her again.

No, remember Parkman claimed that they were two of him...he was asking her where her accomplice was
