peter saved the world by saving claire. Otherwise when hiro stabs sylar he would of regenerated and probably explode aswell.

Nathan's line "You saved the cheerleader so we could save the world" seemed to imply that because Claire had been saved it changed history so that Nathan would meet Claire and make the right decission. Had he never met her I'm pretty sure he would of gone along with Linderman's plan.

Peter saved the world because he convinced Claire and Nathan to believe that they can help people. His (and Hiro's) hero complex is contagious. I have a feeling next season he will better understand all the things he can do. I hope so anyway, becuase that new villan that Molly described sounds terrifying.

The homecoming confrontation with Sylar kept him from becoming immortal. Now he is more like Valdemort in Harry Potter, slinking away to heal his wounds.

Or maybe the sanitation dept. took him away. I can see Sylar in a trash compactor.

The problem I found with this entire storyline is that the explosion would not destroy the world; it would just destroy New York. Everyone thinks that Peter not exploding in NY saved the world, but the world was not in peril

it just stopped sylar from being unstoppable.. unless he kills claire, which can save the world

Yes stopping NY from blowing up prevents the war between mutants and humans from arising. So the world was saved from peril, at least for now.
