I don't know. That idea is really cool, but that story would take a long time to tell, and Hiro in the 1600s for an entire season would be really annoying.

hiro must come back, the main reason for watching is for him. i have enjoyed watching him develope as a hero more than anything else in the show.

Agreed. If it's an episode or two fine, but if that's Volume 2, I'm gonna be mad

I think the lone samurai on the hill was his dad, and that is his dad's power, he never dies, and he is the Kensai or whatever.
we also now have a glimpse at how Hiro became so hard and Samarai like in the future. He is about to train with the real deal.

Wikipedia entry on kensai:
In Heroes, teleporting, time-traveling Hiro Nakamura learns that his "future self" has a katana of legendary power, once owned by a heroic samurai, referred to as Takezo Kensei. The story, as told to Hiro by his father in childhood, states that this warrior has great powers that he could not control - that is, not until he found and claimed this mysterious sword, sheathed in a field of ice. This katana bears an RNA-like symbol alluding to one of the TV series' themes, which is later defined as two Japanese characters fused into one: "Great Talent" and "Godsend".

I like the idea that Hiro's dad can't die. George Takei RULES!

Hiro is not Kensei but they are related. Kensei was on the horse.
Hiro probably should have died, taking so many steps to stab Sylar. That was 3 seconds longer than Sylar has ever needed to react. Hiro should have appeared right behind him.

Having control over time and space beats just about everybody. If peter learns how to control hiro's power, he's about the only one who can challenge this incredible ability.

I believe the Samurai on the hill is Kensei from the stories. I don't believe it is his Dad but rather Kensei is a distant member of his bloodline.
I also believe that Volume 2 is titled "Generations" because it will deal with multiple generations. We'll see Hiro and Kensei in the distant past, the main group in the present, and the parents of the main group in the recent past.

Cant go with you on this one. Look at the picture story of Kensei, there is another warrior there with him. I think that is Hiro!

i hope you guys are kidding when you think it is hiros dad that is the warrior.....that would make his dad over 300 years old and heartless....very very unlikely that the warrior is him....it is probally his great grandfather

Yeah I agree as well, I think they will take an episode or two as Hiro trains with the Real McCoy and comes back ready to fully express his powers.
One question. I wonder what the eclipse at the end is going to signify. I realize its the same one from the show open, but I wonder what it will mean. I'm already highly anticipating next season.

If it were him then he would've known Hiro was the one he was going to meet the entire time, instead of waiting. He has just waited for the one that has been passed down through family stories for years! Thats why he was surprised it was Hiro. He didnt know who and thought if Hero kept being a failure then how would He (Kaito) be able to pass down the family heritage a training for the ancestor that returns.

The eyes of Kensi looked a lot like George Takei to me, I need to get a close up screen cap of the eyes.
I had the theory that Hiro's dad was long lived or immortal for a while, ever since they pushed that he read Hiro the stories as a child.

It is hard to find a comparable picture of Takei where he isn't smiling, I was searching for one of him slightly looking up as in the secne.
I am 90% sure it was his father, I can just imagine the dialouge next season
It is gonna be good.
I bet we find out when the spoilers start seeping out.

didn't Linderman have a painting of Issac's in which someone with a sword was fighting a dinosaur or dragon or something to that effect?? I remember it being talked about when the episode aired.

^ yeah I wonder If we'll get to see a computer generated dinosaur in the later episodes.

That picture was most likely referring to when Hiro got the fake sword from the museum, and saw a dinosaur model.

Perhaps the eclipse symbolizes when the super heroes first get their powers, not saying the eclipse causes the powers, just symbolizes it, like a change, I dunno I am tired lol.

Yeah, so maybe he pulled a highlander. Claimed to be dead, moved somewhere else, and took a new name.
