For somebody that supposedly has "all of Jor-El's knowledge", Lionel sure didn't know not to use the kryptonite on that phantom. Now he's JACKED UP! Bizzarro in the house!

You can't blame Lionel. maybe that was one part he didn't recall. Give 'em a break!

Lionel doesn't _know_ all that knowledge. He's only an oracle by which it can be accessed. For example he didn't somehow know Kryptonese, he had to learn it from the writings he did "under the influence." :p

I am glad the writers further explained, albeit vaguely, Lionel's role with the whole being a vessel of sorts and being possessed with Jor-El's knowledge etc...There are still a lot of "holes" to that storyline imo...but anyway I am glad at least they tried to tie up "some" loose ends...
But the thing that still has me scratching my head in regards to Lionel's sudden "good intentions"....are his actions towards Jonathan Kent...didn't he call JK to meet him at the barn and there he showed him (what was alluded as being some damaging proof regarding Clark) hence the fight between them which contributed to Jonathan's heart atack (Reckoning)....
Was this ever explained? Obviously, Lionel never told Martha or Clark that he was there that night....and of him showing something (which I don't think was ever specified) that obviously made JK very angry....so is Lionel really good?? I mean I know he could be "helping" Clark in this particular situation due to Jor-El choosing him as a vessel or whatever (why Jor-El would pick Lionel...someone who has/would caused harm to the Kent family that raised his son is another mystery) but that doesn't mean Lionel is necessarily a good person....placing Lana in danger....the incident with Jonathan....among other things makes Lionel's true intentions very contrived at the moment...at least for me :\

Lionel did confess to Martha he came to see Jonathan on the night he died. It's about Clark, he knew about the whole intergalactic thing. I think the crumpled picture is Clark's spaceship or a frame capture of him saving Lana in Lockdown. That's what sent Pa Kent over the edge. He thought Lionel was going to expose Clark.
I think Jor-El chose Lionel as his emissary because they're both so similar in their psychological profiles. Ruthless, twisted, manipulative and have an annoying tendency of always speaking in riddles, never getting to the point. They prefer to play mind games with others instead.
They're good guys yeah, but not in the conventional sense.

Thank you for clearing it up for me....Do you remember the episode(s) this was revealed in?

Well, that would make perfect sense lol
All about Clark

Even if Lionel knows what Jor-el knew, knowing how a Kryptonian responds to yellow sun could be completely different than a Kryptonian lab experiment that went wrong affected differently and even Jor-el might not now the affect since this lab experiment may never have left Krypton's sun. Hope that made sense.

I thought this same thing then i talked to a friend and they brought up a good point.
What if Jor'El did not know what the outcome would have been using green K on the phantom since it was an experiement if that is the case there is no way Lionel would have known
