View Full Version : How Syler actually gains other peoples powers....

I hope in upcoming episodes Syler's Power Theft ability is finally revealed.
All we know is, is that he does something with the brain, but what does he actually do?
We all know Sylers' main motivation to lie, steal, cheat and kill people to have other people's ability is because he felt like he never was accepted as being one of the special people (when he didn't have any powers) and also not being special in his mothers eyes.

Sylars only purpose is to become the ultimate in Evolution!

Yes Sylar considers it to be an "evolutionary imperative" to make himself "all that he can be" -- WITHOUT having to join the army.

And he might be simply destroying the brains afterward so no one else can do the same.
A more amusing theory however is that Sylar actually consumes the brains to gain the powers, studying them first so that he can understand and master them once gained.

Brain eating ?? I don't know...
So does that mean his ability involves being able to eat brains and absorbing the powers ?
I know that he is able to see how things work but how do they explain him being able to eat the brains and absorbing the power. So what if someone like HRG ate Claire's brain, would he also be able to regenerate.. ?
Also if Sylar's power is Intuitive aptitude does that mean Peter has it since they have met before ? If so, then Peter can also eat brains.

Well, he is doing something with the brains besides just studying them....I mean they're not eating themselves, are they. He might just be destroying them as I said above in a selfish bid to become "the One" a la Jet Li.
If so, then Peter can also eat brains.
Well yeah but why would he? He already absorbs powers without having to do a thing.

Now am getting even more confused. If Peter has absorbed Sylar's power then how come he can't see how things work.
Peter is having a hard time controlling the powers to a point that he is even afraid of using them (e.g. He let Ted get arrested).
How come he can't understand the powers the way Sylar does?

I think Peter would be a great way to show us how things work.
Peter: (While walking aorund Claire with a clock sound) Claire I can see how your power works.
Claire: Peter what are you doing? Your starting to freak me out.
Peter: I can tell whats going on in your head!
Claire: How?
Peter: I dont know I just can! If I could get to your brain I think I could take your power!
Claire: Sylar takes out brains, what do you think he does with them?
Peter: If I could somehow absorb your brain tissue, I could alter my DNA to your abilty.
Claire: Absorb? How?
Peter: Oh my God! He eats them!
(Cameras zoom out, as the music fades in: and cut to commercial)

How come he can't understand the powers the way Sylar does?  It might be because Sylar actually studies the brains and Peter doesn't. It's interesting to note that if Sylar truly has a natural power then Peter should have absorbed it long ago....during their first meeting at the high school. If that's the case, from then on Peter should have been seeing the world in a whole new light....plot hole? If it's not a goof, then maybe Sylar doesn't really have any natural powers at all, he's just highly intelligent when it comes to figuring things out...

Some of the most repetitive talk they have on the show is what Sylar does with the brains. Thats why they dont show us, they know were talking about it!

has to be something with dna in ur brain or something like that, in episode 2 i think it was when mohinder went to his apartment he had 2 books open with a head cut with brain, so i doubt he eats them

I've never really believed Sylar had a power to begin with. No wonder when he was checked by HRG's doctor they didn't find anything besides Telekinesis...
I think he's just smart. Must just be high IQ or it's merely talent. I think the writers might not have come up with a theory yet. Am guessing that's why they are keeping us in the dark.

Sylar obviosly had a power in the beginning. There was no way he could of known Suresh's weatch was two seconds off otherwise. Wether or not Sylar actually eats the brains is something the writers hint at but haven't stated as being true as they think it might be "silly".
When Sylar was tied up in Mohinder's apartment he he says something like "Give me the list so I can sink my teeth in"

What he did with the watch could be merely because he has a high IQ. It doesn't necessarily mean it's a power.

I believe he was speaking metaphorically. It can't be that obvious.
It was merely a figure of speech.

umm i doubt somebody with a high iq can tell a watch is off by a few seconds standing like 5 feet away from them by just listening to it.. i think he can just sense how things work maybe kinda like a spidey sense but only if something is off

Sylar has "Intuitive Apitude", the ability to see how things work. The writers, creater, producers and actors have all said so. Go ahead and forget the high IQ thing.
Has for Sylar eating brains; I truly believed he didnt for the longest time. Now it has to be considered after Molly saying "he looks into your soul and then eats your brain" or something really close to that. I dont think we will ever be able to really tell, unless they come out and say "Sylar eats brains".
