After watching the episode, reflect on what you think about Phantom, which is likely the last finale that we can call a season finale (vs. a series finale). Do you think it was a fitting end of a season having the themes it did? Would you consider it a classic Smallville type season finale? Was it unpredictable at all as Exodus, Covenant, and Commencement were or was it pretty predictable as Vessel was? Are you happy with the cliffhangers and do they make you wonder what's going to happen, or are they also predictable? Talk in depth about this episode in terms of how it did regarding the elements of a typical season finale here.

If Al/Miles get there way then we won't be having the last finale before the series finale until 7-22. But if this is the last before the series finale, I have to say that next year will be looking good based on the spoilers we have for this finale.

i think if next season was the last season they would have said it already seeing how they mentioned how they need to start the story arc to lead to the end of the series. they said it will probably end in season 8.

...Sticking fingers in my ears, closing my eyes tight and yelling , "The show will never end, the show will never end, look at simpson 18 years. smallville can last 18 years".........

First of all, The CW has just now officially renewed "Smallville" for a 22 episode Season 7. 2nd of all, the workers on the show said theyre focusing on Season 7 before even thinking about if its the last season or not. They said if there was a Season 8, that it would be the last. Personally, i dont think that they could possibly even try to wrap up everything in Season 7 without making it seemed rushed. On the other hand, Season 7 and Season 8, 44 episodes would wrap up Clark, Lex, and everyone just nicely. Considering theyre going to have more mythology and more DC Heroes next season, im pretty sure well get a Season 8. Its CW's most popular show and i dont think theyll let it go so easily.

Tom Welling is already thirty years old, he will soon be out of his prime teenagishly looking years, another three seasons as a "young Clark" would be streching it a little.

He is right now in the prime movie acting age group, I would like to see him move on to some major movie roles.
As well as the others MR is thirty five, thirty six on July 11, Erica Durance turns thirty next month, these actors, if kept on one series will never make it into the movies or other series unless they get to move on.
Recently, when I went to see TW's movie "The Fog" or when he was in "Cheaper by the Dozen", I heard several people in the theater say "That is Clark Kent!" when they saw him on the screen.
For me, one more season since they didn't wrap it up in season six.

Uh...they could try having the episodes carry arc story rather than be fillers. Seriously, it wouldn't be hard to end Smallville at Season 7. All we need is a couple main things:

-Clark to pick up an interest in journalism
-Clark to go to the FoS (wither throughout season, or at end) for training
-Something has to be done about Chloe
-Something has to be done about Lionel

Throw in a nice mythos baddie for the season, and you have a great ending. In 22 episodes I think they can pull it off.

Why does something have to be done about Chloe and Lionel? Just because they weren't in the comics, does not mean that they have to die. I'm having flashbacks to the weeks before Reckoning now. Ugh!

Agreed, 7 just seems like the right number to finish it off at.
I love the show, but they need it end it off on a high note, not drag it out to 10 seasons.

I think this was another great season finale. Some parts were a little predictable, but others came from left field. The cliffhangers were amazing. I'm very much looking forward to season 7.
