Clark threatening Lionel kinda made me laugh.

It's great he's finally stepping up but it's just the way he said it.

Lionel won't be laughing, Clark looks really pissed off.

I'm glad that Clark is confronting Lionel, I just found the scene funny.

Clark never threatens anybody.

I don't know. If I had to deal with Lionel I'd keep the gloves on, personally.

Lionel is a bit dirty so gloves might not be a bad idea. Lionel looked a little shocked that Clark was threatening him. I wonder if Lionel really believes he's helping Clark out or if this is just yet another Lionel-sham used to get what he wants while acting like buddies.

I'm guessing it's because he's trying to get what he wants and that he's chosen the side with the biggest guns but that will soon change I think to reveal that Lionel is indeed on his own side.

yeah, Clark's not good with the threatening...

I sorta laughed 'cause it seemed pretty meager....

"The gloves will come off, what do you think about THAT option?"

All Lionel needed to say was 'but you're not wearing any gloves' and it would have made me completely burst out laughing.

I think I saw some genuine fear in Lionel's eyes hidden under that tough exterior, its about time Clark put him in his place

If I where Lionel I'd be craping myself at that moment when Clark threating him.

Clark could really seriously hurt someone.

Really hurt someone or kill someone........

This whole duality bit with Lionel is bothering me. He's supportive of Martha, but threatened to kill her son in order to force Lana to marry his son. There's a lot more examples of that but I have no idea where his character's motives are, any longer.

the gloves are off!? Michael Jackson, i KNEW it was you beneath that hot exterior of dark hair and a chiseled jaw line!

All about Clark
05-11-2007, 12:35 AM
^That's the problem. Even with Lionel is trying to do good, he's still pretty bad. He apparently only knows one way to get things done. I really hope he doesn't turn on Clark.

The only action I didn't understand from Lionel is the "marry Lex or I'll kill Clark" business. Outside of that Lionel hasn't been too out of line in terms of what I think the character is capable of. But then again his conversation with Jonathan that lead to his heart attack.

I don't know. I just think Lionel is too "back and forth" to be reasonable for a character. A flaw in the writing, not the actor btw (whom I have the deepest respect for).

I think lionel should have replied "what does that even mean?!"

because that threat made no sense.

but precisely is clark going to do?
tell martha or beat up lionel, are clark's only options, i can't see clark hitting lionel ever.
telling mommy her boyfriend hurt your feelings is not really taking the gloves off.

Yea I think that was the best part of the show, even though that was kinda a cheezy bullying line.

I liked it too, imo it was my favorite line. Lionel really was scared because Clark will find out.

The threat that he once made, "Stay away from my mother" had no backbone to it and he never followed through with it. I can almost guarantee that he meant it this time and he really is pissed. If I were Lionel, I'd line every wall of LuthorCorp with kryptonite.

In that scene Clark scared the @#$ out of MB

:( Actually Clark should be grateful to Lionel because he saved him from making the biggest mistake of his whole life, that is; to be content with the fool of Lana, the truth is that Lionel was the hero who saved Clark of doing that and also saved us from standing more of the Cklana nightmare for another season, Clark should be eternaly grateful with Lionel:D :p :)

Haha, that was great. A little reality check for Lionel. Before he gets out of hand he needs to remember which main character shoots heat blasts from his eyes and can rip apart steel. Good for Clark.

LOL Agreed. Lionel can just wear a small Krypto'ed necklace, or green-K-lined wallet, and Clark won't do a bloody thing... The threat was completely unnecessary. What would Clark really do? He ain't gonna kill 'em - he won't hurt 'em either since Lionel knows and bribes everyone on the friggin' planet...the Alien Task Force that was looking for Alf will be all over 'em. LOL

*Steps into the screen*
Um, Clark? Lionel was the one that redirected his obsessed son from pursuing you. The man you want to beat with your bare hands within an inch of his life is over there- *points to Lex*

Carry on.

I found that kinda funny to the way he thrreatned lionel. But clark must not forget that lionel knows his secret.

I think Clark threatened Lionel to stay way from his mom before. Little good that did

When Clark said that line his eyes were all intense and I thought "shades of Kal".
But yeah the line itself was kinda goofy. I sat there also thinking "yeah, what are you going to do, sic Chloe on him? Cause the worse you would do is give him an open handed smack like you do with all your enemies."

I love Clark but wow unless he's Kal he's not too good at being threatening.

Superman´s gloves are never meant to come off, what ever he does to bring justice to the world has to be within JUST limits and taking the gloves off means all bets are off and that is not Superman (or future SUperman for that matter) talk. So I was very displeased by that line and Clark´s "mobster" atittude. Superman is about justice not vengance.

I agree with you completely. Clark should be more subtle. I like Clark-Superman because he works within just limits and he always chooses what's right, and he doesn't know the word revenge (ok maybe he knows but stays away from it :)

The threat doesn't really make sense. Lionel knows his secret and his weakness. Surely Lionel always carries a bit of K just in case, maybe incased in lead to stop Clark getting ill when he's not a threat to Lionel. But Clark's power lies in people not knowing his weakness to K, if you know it and have it (as Lionel always has right back from S2) really Clark is weaker than a human...he's helpless against Lionel because of that!

At first I agreed with that, but then I thought about it. Clark doesn't have to be anywhere near Lionel to hurt him. He can run into him at Superspeed, or even better, blast him with heat vision rays from yards away. So in that case I'd say the kryptonite is pretty useless.

Or if he was really desperate, tell Ollie and Co. to do something to Lionel.

Dean_19
05-17-2007, 03:37 AM
That's true. I wonder if Clark supersped towards someone with K and then supersped away after smacking them one if he'd get sick? If he was only in it's proximity for a micro-second he wouldn't get effected would he?

shanemak
05-17-2007, 08:59 AM
I wouldn't think so. Because in Arrival those 2 krytponians could get away while exposed to kryptonite, 1 even managed to pick up the door. In Splinter where Clark was exposed to silver kryptonite, he was able to still superspeed away after Chloe used it on him.

Dean_19
05-18-2007, 05:37 AM
Makes you wonder why he just doesn't superspeed away the moment someone gets it out...!
