I don't understand how Sylar was able to start time again. He knew that Hiro was following him, and he didn't do anything about it. He must of sensed Hiro had a power at the loft, and was curious about him. The only way he might of un froze time was his power of figuring things out. Being in close proximity he figured out how Hiro does it and adapted to it.
I think it's the fact that Hiro was not prepared for what he was doing. He was scared and lost concentration - then Sylar was able to break out of it.
Of course - it could be related to time somehow - since Sylar started out with clocks and seems to be drawn to them and how to fix them....you never know.

i know its weird. maybe it has nothin to do with time but with sylars understanding of other heroes powers. either that or hiro planned on unfreezing time right before hitting sylar and sylar just has fast reflexes. too bad about the sword though.

I'm gonna go with the lost concentration during the moment of attack. It wasnt as if Hiro had his heart behind it and he was obviously freaking out about it, so I dont think its to hard to think that maybe he just lost focus and messed up :(
Actually someone said in an interview a while back that Hiro's sword would be almost like his kryptonite. I don't think Sylar broke out of it, I think that when Hiro pulled his sword he lost concentration and accidentally broke his time freeze on his own.
Hiro's words to Ando were that he "failed." I figured it to be his lack of concentration, not Sylar's doing.

I also thought it was that he lost concentration, I think the whole eye moving thing was for our benefit only!

The eye thing was awesome indeed, it almost reminded me of a shark.

i thought that sylar had made it look like time was paused of something
but that doesn't really make sense, it was wierd

Nothing to deep into this now. Hiro lost concentration and got nervous and hesitant about killing Sylar. Therefore time starting up again as you notice Sylar's Mother falling to the ground.

Its also possible that Hiro unintentionally unfroze Sylar when he touched him with the sword. We know that physical contact with someone will pull them into his time stream.

I thought that at first but Sylar's mother fell just as he was getting ready to strike, so I'll have to echo everyone else and say Hiro lost concentration.

Thats good in theory, but that doesnt explain how Hiro moved DL and all the people in the car accident about twenty feet before time started moving again in nothing to hide. Hiro's good, but i dont think hes THAT good.

Plus when Sylar unfroze, his mom fell to the floor. So time itself was unfrozen, not just Sylar.
