View Full Version : Hes absorbing your power

So when Peter takes other peoples power does he littrally absorb and steal a bit of other peoples power?
I think he absorbs the power but might not take it full on - so he has the power but is not as powerful as the original person?
And even so - Peter didn't even have to touch Ted - before Peter seemed to have to make physical contact to absorb powers. So now, Peter can be walking down the street and just suck powers from people? Scary thought lol.

Poor guy. I'd calm down if I was him though. If he freaks, he might explode a little to early.

LOL - Pre-mature exploding would not be recommended for Peter. What will the other Heroes say!

^^exactly, i think the fear of exploding will cause him to explode. and like claude said, `you can fly. you`ve done it, your body remembers how, the only thing thats stoppin you is you. you`ve absorbed these powers, now im gonna teach you howda pull em out 1 by 1.`

So if Claire (Ted or Matt) can calm Peter down - make him focus then he won't explode. That makes sense. Peter is making his own destiny come true. He needs to fight the future instead of embracing it.

LOL - Yes...it's too easy isn't it - to walk that fine line.......lol......and then to jump over the line running towards where you know you shouldn't go....lol.....
Peter needs to remember his 'training' and focus. If he can focus himself more like he did as his 'future self' then he'll be ok. But then again - maybe it's not Peter that explodes - maybe it is Ted.
Suddenly I feel like we're talking about Luke Skywalker......'use the force luke' lol

How did Peter even absorb his powers with no emotional knowledge of Ted?
And how did HRG know that peter could do that? Are there others like him?
HRG probably has a file on Peter. He probably also knows that Peter is related to Claire.
Peter 'emotional knowledge' of Ted? Not sure what you mean there. Peter usually has to have some form of physical contact to absorb the powers - but maybe Ted's power is so powerful that Peter absorbed it when he walked by?
Merfish
05-07-2007, 08:52 PM
by emotional knowledge, like he has to think about said person to activate his or her ability
Chlarkerlover
05-07-2007, 08:56 PM
That's only true AFTER he's absorb the power, he can just pick them up. Plus, he saw Ted, he might have thought "Wait a minute..." then suddenly his hands were glowing! god it must suck to be peter.

Well you gotta remember that he absorbed the invisibility without knowing it as well, he saw the man (name escapes me) but didnt realize he was invisible until later.
And as far as activating it im not sure if its an emotional link or just a concious rememberance of using the ability. And it seems that some are just easier then others, as in the future he can use the invis/telepathy rather easily but has to concentrate to stop time, so eh i dont know how it works but he can do it.

thats how it always been he's never really needed to touch anyone to gain there power he just needed to be around them for a little bit
what i said was when peter was absorbing ted's power i would have told ted to run away so he couldnt fully get it or something or knock peter out like claude did

Yeah it does suck being Peter then - because he could be walking down the street and get some really freaky power that doesn't turn up until later on......
I do think that he has to think about a certain power to call it up to use it though - but maybe when he's in peril or distressed he can unleash a power he didn't know he had.

"Peter is making his own destiny come true. He needs to fight the future instead of embracing it."
I totally agree. I cant understand how Peter intentionally tracking down Ted, and absorbing the power that makes him blow up New York is helping "save the world." I would think that if Peter steered clear of Ted, and maybe took a vacation away from NYC, that that would do it, lol.
^^You avi is so good lol. And yes I agree. If Peter had left NY then he might have actually saved the city that way. But then again - maybe it's not him that blows up it's Ted and Peter needs to be there to stop him? - With this show - anything is possible.
Can't wait til Monday. :D

I think they are suppose to explain why He meet Ted in Mondays ep!
angeloo
05-09-2007, 09:06 PM
he didnt meet ted they were trying to find out what that guy from lindermans company was doing, also peter just has to be in distance to absorb peoples powers, what i thought was funny is when he saw matt the expression he had was he was trying to read there minds lol, and also HRG has seen peter fly and use TK on top of the roof when they tried to get claude

I think the thing about Peter's power is that he has to experience it in order to take it on. I don't think he just goes on absorbing powers from every1 say when he's walking in a crowd.
The power has to actually be used in close proximity then he will acquire it. Like when he took Claude's power of invisibility, Claude was using it at the time. And the same applies to Matt using it against him. And btw Ted happened to be in the next room when Matt was interrogating Peter. So maybe Peter absorbed his power then but just didn't know he had.
Also, I think Peter's going to calm down and think that "Hey, i can control it, i don't have to blow up the city after all ". And then maybe in the season finale he eventually does blow up probably due to some incident like a face off with Sylar or something of the sort.... You know Isaac's paintings were never wrong so am pretty sure Peter will cause the explosion......
RedPhoenix23
05-10-2007, 01:57 AM
Isaac's painting never exactly showed Peter exploding. One painting has an exploding man - but there's no distinguishable features to the face or body to say for sure it's Peter, Sylar, or even Ted.
kazek
05-10-2007, 05:02 AM
Yes the painting doesn't point directly at Peter but Peter's dreams do and even Linderman implied it...
In episode 19 when Nathan said "You know the exploding man is my brother"..... and Linderman was like "We all have our role to play. Peter's curtain call will come the day after you're elected".....
He doesn't say it straight out but that ought to tell us Peter is the bomb....
Anyway no point dwelling on that... we'll only have to wait and see....

Oh you guys are bad lmao - don't ever change. :D
I'm not so sure that it is Peter who explodes anymore. And sure - Peter has dreams etc but he doesn't see himself literally explode he just sees the beginning of it and the end result? I think that Peter will be able to control it but Ted will loose it and that Peter will have to try to draw Ted's power away some how - I think in the end - it's not going to be just Peter but a group effort to take down who ever is going to blow [laughing as I write this I'm so immature]......
I like that the show keeps us guessing - One minute you're sold that it's Peter who's gonna blow and the next you're certain it's got to be Ted.

LMAO
So how about this - Ted looses it and Peter takes him up to let him blow up away from every one else - Peter falls back to earth unconcious and the city still suffers minor damages but doesn't blow up. Thus - Ted is dead and Peter saves the day but everyone thinks he's dead and Nathan uses the sympathy for the loss of his brother to win the election.

And we're sorta on topic - Heroes is a sci fi show (kinda) and a super powered person show so it does tie in with other shows that have the same genre or come on the same channel or are just shows we might like lol.
And yes....Peter does rock.

Nothing wrong with a Male-nurse. But most people think of Meet the Parents when it comes to Male-nursing and it made it more of a joke. I don't see anything wrong with it. But since Meet the Parents I used to chuckle about it - but I do have to say that Peter stripped that image of Stiller from me......lol.....
Guess it takes someone special to go into that profession KNOWING that there would be a lot of jokes made at your expense. But then again - that kinda goes with most professions...........

Peter doesn't absorb the powers of others, he copies them empathetically. They're exacty as strong as those that his "benefactors" have aswell.
He doesn't need physical contact to copy the power either. Mohinder says in one episode that Peter's DNA automatically rearranges itself to match others with powers around him so thats why he started glowing when Ted stood near him. To recall the different powers Peter just remembers how the different "benefactors" made him feel (emotionally).
chrisxs5
05-21-2007, 06:45 AM
I completely agree with you! I think he is also beginning to move past having to recall them at all and getting closer to them being complete reflexes.
