Ok, so I'm a HUGE movie buff and The Godfather trilogy remains one of my favorites. I'm also an absolute video game junkie (take that boys ;) ) and I know I'm kind of late on this, but I just got The Godfather video game for my PS2 (even though I'm playing it on my brand new PS3 :p ).
What's the deal with the story being out of order? I mean, Luca Brasie dies after Tom comes back from California. Why is it like the third mission? I haven't made it that far at all, but I've already got a gripe against this game.

You have a PS3? Ya' should have gotten the Don's Edition. I hear it's almost as good as the Blackhand Edition. :p

Yeah, I have a PS3. I love it. I will never buy an XBOX. For the same reason I own a Mac.

The Don's Edition is the PS3 version of The Godfather and has supposedly a ton of more missions, better graphics, and a bigger city than the one on PS2. It also uses the SIXAXIS controller for the execution moves.
The Blackhand Edition is for the Wii, and basically has all the extras the PS3 version has, but not as good graphics (still a bump up from the PS2 version though) and - IMO - more intuitive, immersive motion controls. The Wiimote is your right hand and the nunchuck your left and you can pummel the hell out of people. It's immensely satsifying. You can also use the pointer function to aim your weapons more accurately.
Neither one fixes the chronology of the missions, I'm afraid. I never saw the movie, but I did read the original novel by Mario Puzo and liked it a lot. The order of the missions don't bother me that much. Quite honestly, I spend most of my hours taking over business, going after the compounds, gaining control of the warehouses... and randomly beating up people on the street. It's that much fun on the Wii.
I take it you're not a Microsoft fan, then. Ooooookay. :)

I can't stand that the chronology is out of order. I'm to the part where the Don gets shot, and Tom still hasn't even been to California yet.
I think I just ended up getting the PS2 special edition version. I didn't see the PS3 version when I bought it and didn't do enough research into it to look.
I got Resistance: Fall of Man and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion with my PS3. And I got The Godfather for free. I'm just now getting around to playing it.
I don't really like the Wii either. I just feel dumb swinging around my arms like that.

:\ To each their own. To me it's more the idea that I'm part of the family, making my way in the world, rising up the ranks of the mafia. Technically, you're not playing as a character from the movie, so you really have no business participating in any of the story missions when such a character was never seen or mentioned.

You don't have to. A lot of games only require a mere flick of the wrist to get the action to work (unless it's a bad game). In fact, the only time I've ever found myself flailing my arms wildly is in the company of friends when we play competitively. It's just fun. Pure, simple, unadulterated fun. My arms are still sore from a session of intense Wii boxing the other day against my friends.
