Jimmy didn't fall for Lana in real life, he simply saw her as "the damsel in distress" in this story and his mind took it to the next level in his dream. Since he saw himself as the hero then he got the damsel, that's the way it works in old movies, at least until the damsel is (usually) revealed to be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Yes, but if we see Lionel "taking kindly" to Lana soon, you're going to have to admit that EVERY single male in the world has to fall for Lana.

My question: Do you think Chloe could get Jimmy to commit murder? Somehow I actually doubt it. He'd say, "Why? I don't think that's such a good idea." But when looking at Lana . . . who can question these things?

Lana didn't get Jimmy to commit murder either. It was a dream, inspired by detective stories, where the parts all played out as they classically would. The femme fatale can get the hero to do anything until he realizes who she really is. It wasn't like Jimmy was in conscious control of his decisions in dream-world. Surely you've had a dream where you've done something you wouldn't normally do in real life? Everyone has.

What I think has been missed is that the dream was a plot device. It was used to get the focus onto that cigarette case, and a cool way to have a filler episode that wasn't same-old same-old meteor freakville. It wasn't Jimmy's actual intentions nor was it what actually happened in the real world (Clark isn't sleeping with married Lana while secretly being undercover for the MPD).

Lionel seems to be manipulating Lana the same way he's manipulating everyone else. Maybe he'll turn out to be a good guy but still only knows how to manipulate people to do the right thing? Maybe he'll still be the MB we all know. Even if Lionel "takes kindly" to Lana it will be as a Father-in-Law and friend to Clark, not as a suitor.

I've always kind of assumed that Lana has some kind of meteor freak power that makes everyone adore her, fall in love with her, stalk her, obsess over her, etc.
