So someone gets hurt in Metropolis and this time the specialist is in Smalliville? Anyone else troubled by this.

They have to have specialists in Smallville by now; look at all the freak accidents that happen there.

Hahaha, I wish Clark would have said:
"I'll send in the best specialists from Smallville".

I think the joke is that Lana has her own specialist. Shes been in the hospital so much lately. Her specialist probably comes to Smallville when needed.

I'd imagine that Lex's presence has had a positive effect on the quality of service at Smallville medical. Makes sense to me.

Yes, it's great, Smallville Medical Center. Town has a population of what, 300 people but one of the greatest specialists around? Guess all that insurance reimburments from the Luthors and Lana (if she had insurance)-for the amount of times Lana and Lex have been in the hospital, it should be a major trama. BUT REALLY-ANY MAJOR CITY would have a number of trama hospitals with specialists on call to take a bullet out (?) of her shoulder. Not like she is a sports figure or surgeon that would need micro surgery to make sure their career isn't lost. (OH MY GOD, I can't lift my ______ (fill in left or right depending on what view you saw) arm to pick out clothes and sign the charge receipt!!!!!)

Lol...of course...she couldn't be rushed to Metropolis if she was already there, right?
She had to be rushed SOMEWHERE.

Geez. When people are injured in Smallville, Lionel ships them to Metropolis. I think he just likes for people to die en route.

Smallville canonically has a population of around 40,000 I believe, as stated on the "Welcome to Smallville, Meteor Capital of the World" sign.

omigosh, that did indeed irk me. it's happened a few times before too. Someone will get injured in metropolis, but be in the smallville medical center....as if metropolis didn't have any medical centers at all. it's a little bit, well, a LOT ridiculous.

I had a problem with sending her to Smallville's hospital, too. There _is_ some distance between Metropolis and Smallville, and let's be honest, gunshot victims practically always go to the closest hospital. Especially in a big city where generally the best doctors and specialists tend to be, not a small town hundreds of miles away.

TPTB don't think. That's all it comes down to.

There's absolutely no reason why she had to be sent to Smallville so quickly. Maybe after a few days of being okay for some rehabilitation or something, but right after she's been shot?

Lana surely has her own specialist in Smallville now. She's paying rent at the medical center because she has her own speical room reserved for her all the time. Lex is going to give her her own wing soon. The Lana Luthor (memorial) wing.

I thought that was very ironic. How many times did Lex say in the early seasons "I'll call in my specialist from Metrpolis"?
And now the specialist is in Smallville.
Maybe Lex realized he's married to the one girl in all the world who should have her own personal nameplate on the door hospital bed kept open for her 24 hours because you never know when she'll be:
shot, stabbed, hit on the head, fall from a height, attacked by a meteor freak, attacked by a non-meteor freak, driven off the road, hit in the face, drowned, buried alive (ok, that happened to Chloe but you know it's coming for Lana!), etc. etc. etc. and figured he should keep his own doctor in hand for when it happens!

I think that it might have been easier to just say that Lana had to go Smallville Medical than to have to build a set or change the Smallville Medical set to look like a hospital in Metropolis. This had to be the reasoning behind it cause I don't think I'll ever believe that someone is being sent to Smallville to have specialist take care of them.

No kidding. If I were a trauma surgeon, I'd move to Smallville in a heartbeat. You'd be making some BANK with the sheer number of injuries and near-death experiences that occur in that "quiet little town."
