How is it that Matt didn't realize that Sylar was Nathan. He can read minds. At one point you would think that it should have been found out. Unless somehow every time that Nathan/Sylar met with Matt the Hatian was around. I find this hard to believe, so either Sylar has yet another power we don't know about or. it is just a hole that the writers didn't consider, or possibly Matt new and he really is an evil s.o.b. in the future.

Actually, as far as I can remember, the Haitian and Matt were almost always around each other regardless of whether or not Sylar/Nathan was there as well. I could be wrong but until the end when the Haitian was guarding Hiro he was around Matt quite a bit. I just assumed the Haitian was Matt's partner like he was with HRG.

yeah I was thinking that too, but to think that in the entire time leading up to that the haitian and Matt were always together when Matt was with Nathan is kind of a stretch, but I guess it is possible.

possibly Matt knew and he really is an evil s.o.b. in the future. Definitely possible, Matt was pretty evil, he murdered people without a second thought. And he didn't seem too surprised when Nathan displayed different powers and transformed into Sylar, he just went back doing what he was doing.

But maybe he's a victim of Sylar's mind control ability? Another possibility I guess.

You guys forget that if Haitian is always with Matt and then when Matt is with Nathan/Sylar.. then Haitian powers will also force Sylar to revert back to his real form.... Most plausible is that Haitian is ultimately loyal to the Petrelli's so he will block Matt's mind reading abilities whenever he's near President "Nathan Petrelli."

This is doubtful based on the events near the end (see my previous post). It seems Matt knew. Loyal or not, the Haitian seemed pretty twisted himself, seemed to have no problem murdering Hiro. Only Mohinder for sure seemed to have no knowledge of Nathan's true identity.

The true heroes were revealed in this episode... It turns out Matt and the Haitian aren't among them, these two are actually scumbags at heart.

Not scumbags at heart. The events that led up this day made them the "heroes" that they were.

Sylar needed these two to acheive his ends.

Maybe they know they cant defeat Sythan(got tired of writing out the names, so I named them) So instead they were trying to make sure those with dangerous powers didnt go near him, making him more dangerous if they got he got theirs!

PLus Matt only ever talked to Sythan over the phone until that last scene where he did turn and do a double take!

well one thing i don't think anyone considered is that if Matt didn't know Nathan before Sylar killed him, or had just met him briefly, he may not have noticed a difference between the two. Especially since Sylar said nathan was already starting to turn evil when he killed him. It could be that Matt thought he was evil but didn't realize it was Sylar. It didn't seem like Matt would have taken issue with following an evil leader.

Matt did make reference to choicing a side, even if it was the wrong one. Or something to that effect!
