the`ve all changed so much. nathan was hiro`s friend, even let him see linderman. hiro`s a hardass and peter`s just terrible. what if killing sylar, and everything else, still changes hiro into this monster, same with peter? and nathan, can he change at all?

Right and right. But I don't think the future versions of themselves were all that bad. They were products of their environments and their experiences. Hopefully, Hiro can take some of that knowledge and try to make sure that this particular version of the future doesn't happen.
