View Full Version : Would Sylar eat himself if he had the chance?

I think he would.

If Sylar eats Hiro's brain (and I think he should:lol: ), he could teleport himself back in time and "offer" himself to his younger self, as "the best Christmas present ever".

Alternatively, he could teleport himself into the future and eat his future self (who would presumably have a lot more powers), and then return back to his original time "a better man". lol (technically of course this would not be possible as going into the future means leaving the present and hence there would be no "future Sylar" to find...lol)

Anyhow, let's just hope Sylar manages to eat Hiro soon so that my dream of Sylar eating himself can become a reality. lol

Their rich, tasty courage."

Sylar (aka Shang Tsung) doesn't just eat people's brains, he eats their souls, too. And only "the chosen one" -- Peter aka Liu Kang, can stop him.

And there's still no reason to assume Sylar doesn't eat brains. Lol.

The creators already said he doesnt eat brains.

Their powers originate from their brains and when Sylar kills he see's how they work then alters his DNA to match.

And then he funds his madness by selling their brains on the black market!!

Yeah I agree I don't think he eats brains or in .07% Sylar would've had blood on his mouth not just his hand when he was painting the future after killing Isaac.

Actually, Sylar does eat brains.

Bennet mentions that Sylar's powers are a product of using foreign DNA to alter his own, but the mechanism behind this change was only implied in the television series during episode 18, "Parasite". As Mohinder is interrogating Sylar, Sylar's facade of civility breaks and he yells "Give me that damn list! So I can...sink my teeth in..." In an interview with Heroes writer Bryan Fuller, Fuller says that "[Sylar] kills people and he eats their brains and he, like, digests their power."

Taken from a site that allows the end user to edit it! An interview with Kring said that was the original idea, but they abondoned due to viewer response. They did say we know by the end of the season.

If he was a hot dog and he was starving, yes he would eat himself.

(props to anyone who gets that reference)

If it's as simple as that (which I highly doubt), then why are the heads always found hollowed out? I don't think he's collecting them like a watch collection....though he might be. He must be eating the brains as well, not only studying them. Because after all that studying, he could probably use a snack.

no thats not true, thats not what the interview said. kring said that that was his idea but he didnt MENTION it on the show, because it might sound silly. mentioning and abandoning are 2 things, and it had absolutely nothing to do with veiwer response(I dunno where you came up with that)

Right, Kring has confirmed that Sylar does eats their brains. They made the decision, however, not to go into detail ON AIR about that fact. It has been stated by HRG rather creatively, though.

...and Sylar didn't have a bloody mouth because he's not a messy eater. Just because you're evil, doesn't mean you don't have good table manners. :D

I don't know what he does with the brains all I know is that they are missing. I can see why eating would be an easy explanation, but his power is to analyze and adapt. Eating brains doesn't really seem that great.

The future hero was killed with a bullet. Which is so ****ing wierd becuase he should be able to stop time the second he hears the shoot.

My understanding is that bullets travel faster than sound! PLus it does take him a second to do that squint thing.

He may or may not need to physically ingest the DNA found in the brain, which would then be incorporated into his own. Then he would switch out powers by switching out dna strands, and thus when he was "dead" the only power they could find would be telekinis, because that was the only strand activated at the time.

I myself prefer the theory that he anaylzes the brain completely, and in order to complete the analysis, must destroy it in some way.

I realy don't see him actualy just consuming the entire brain- and if he does, we will probably never have evidence of it, because as Mr. Kring said- it would just be silly.

They have never cleared up if they found a brain or at least the left overs of one.
Have they?

chrisxs5

As of right now, I dont believe there has been evidence of leftover brains anywhere!

The Ninth Doctor

I can't think of any. Which lends credence to the idea that he does more than just examin them. (Or, maybe the examination ends up destroying the brain.)

Xanderman

He could just be destroying the brains after examining them so that no one else can get the powers the same way....he likes to be "special".

Personally though I still hope he eats the brains.... Whether it's out of necessity to gain the powers, or simply out of hunger.

That is a good point.

If Sylar got time travel, instead of offering himself to his past self, would his various temporal selves try to outdo each other and become more special? A sort of Kang VS Imortus thing?

A sort of Kang VS Imortus thing?Well the most "future" Sylar would be most powerful and so would be at an advantage. And a future Sylar couldn't risk eating a past self without destroying himself in the process. His only option would be to offer himself...who knows, he might see this as an "evolutionary imperative". (Kang/Imortus? Where's that from?)

The Ninth Doctor
06-29-2007, 07:46 AM
By effecting his past self, he would split the timeline, thus both being able to attack his past self without harm to himself and also would shift the timeline to the point where it might be possible for other "past" selves to be just as powerful as the sylar originally doing the timetravel, they'd just be from differant timelines.

Kang and Immortus are from marvel. Basically Kang has a temporal empire, but his massive time travel to create this empire throughout time caused a very messy series of timelines to come about. Kang eventually got bored with no challenges to his empire, and eventually was aproached by some cosmic being to attempt to undo the mess he had made. He began to try and stop his past self, and became Imortus.

But if there is ultimately only one universe however, without the possibility of multiple timelines co-existing, then avoiding paradoxes becomes quite problematic.

Lol sounds cool.

Hey is there any chance you could explain 12 Monkeys? That's supposedly supposed to make sense but it's complicated.

Yah, if there is only one timeline than my scenerio can't work.

I honestly don't know what 12 Monkeys is. I'll try and look it up though.

12 Monkeys is a really dark "end of the world" type sci-fi movie that involves time travel. It stars Bruce Willis. Great movie but a little depressing...

I'm surprised you haven't ever seen the film or even heard of it before, you seem to be really into time travel stuff.

I'm into all the theoretical physics stuff. 12 Monkeys does sound cool. Thanks for tipping me off, I'm going to have to check that out.
