Yeah I didnt get that either, Lex said he saw what happened when he hit Clark with the chisel. So Lex knows that Clark is at least part freak ?

i really didn't like that at all. they are playing it way too close to lex finding out about clark. there is no way that in the future lex will not put 2 and 2 together and figure out clark is superman.

^I disagree, the MIB mindwipe is too darn easy these days, he will not get convenient amnesia...

10 to 1 that chisel is in his Clark mystery room.

If you saw one of the director cuts, Clark actually took the chisel back in...oh shoot, the stalker episode...

I think Clark has the chisel; I don't think Lex has it or we'd have seen him staring at it at some point after Crimson. I believe Clark knew Lana had it, raced in, grabbed it and raced out.

It's true that in the Director's cut, he was straightening it out in the barn when Lex walks in to give him his invitation to the wedding.

yeah i thought that was kinda weird... and Clark didn't even offer an excuse. Strange

I may be totally wrong about this, but I think when he said "I saw what that chisel did to you" I thought he meant about how Clark hit the ground because his mom brought out the Kryptonite. Didn't Lex say right after that " I can't believe I ever thought you were special" or something like that. For some reason I had trouble hearing some of the lines on the show last night, but I thought that was what I heard.

Lex has seen over and over Clark bleeding and such, by now he should be almost convinced that Clark is "basically human".

Actually he made reference to the chisel "bending like an accordian". Basically he believes Clark has abilities, but he can't figure it out yet, because of the conflicting evidence.

I was really hoping Lex didn't see that, how did he see it... he was half knocked out when it happened!

Thanks, that clears it up for me. I don't know what was up with the sound on my tv last night. I totally didn't hear the line about the accordion. I'll have to re-watch it.

I'm not sure, cause I wasn't at home when I watched the ep, and I haven't had a chance to check my recording of it on my DVD recorder, but I could have sworn it went something like...

Lex: I never thought I'd be pulling shrapnel out of you. What's up with you, i saw the chisel Clark, it bent like an accordian when I stabbed you with it.
Clark: Doesn't matter.
Lex: You never could trust me with your secrets.
Clark: You never could stop investigating people with abilities different than yours.

Its not exact, but that was the gist of the conversation. I'll have to check my recording later to give you an exact word for word. or someone else can if they want.

Lex is so confused. One minute Clark seems to be a freak, then the next minute he's bleeding or is hurt in some other way. Lex has been trying to find out about Clark for a long time, and he's still confused.

Everyone seems to be really happy with this episode but I honestly did not understand what was going on in this episode. I didnt understand what did Lex say to Clark about the chisel. And then Chloe knows that Lana knows about Clark but she didnt tell Clark. And then how could Clark be ok with Lex after knowing he threatened Chloe and married the one true love of his life. Everyone seemed out of place, out of character and this was like fastforward Smallville. Was I the only one who was shocked at how Clark blurted out about Lana having second thoughts about marrying Lex? Tht was so not Clark Kent like...hes secretive not like this. I love Smallville but this episode was kinda weird, I wish I could watch it again on youtube or something.

Here's a transcript of the Clark/Lex conversation, some of it was hard to make out.

Lex: You're the last person I ever expected to be pulling shrapnel out of. I saw what happened when I stabbed you with that chisel, Clark. Thing accordioned like it hit solid rock. I don't know why I needed so badly to believe that you were more than human.

Clark: Nothing is ever good enough for you, Lex.

Lex: Yeah, well the truth would have been. You may be flesh and blood, but you've been hiding your secrets from me since we met. You never trusted me.

Clark: Would it have mattered? What are you really doing down here anyway, Lex? Trying to find new ways to exploit the people that have a different ability than you?

I have to agree with the gist of this, but I thought Clark in talking to Lex about Lana and her reluctance to marry him was about Clark trying to get answers that he couldn't get from Lana. Also maybe a little bit of trying to hurt Lex's feelings... I think Clark sees that Lex does indeed care for Lana in his own twisted way.

i think that lex has the chisel. he probably took it from lana. I dan't think that the writers should be lettting him get this close to finding out CK's secret though. but i liked the continuity.

Well, Smallville is a sort of reimagining of Superman. I think it would be kind of cool to have a Superman mythology where Lex does know and he's not trying to kill Superman all of the time...but he definitely does try sometimes.

As for the chisel? Yeah, I think he took it. It's Lex, it's his house.

Lex was in the middle of being choked to death - he wouldn't have noticed the chisel being bent.

I think Clark was set on the fact that he was going to die in that cave. He probably wanted to get one last hit at Lex before he/they both died.

I don't think Clark "is okay with Lex" after all the things he's done, but it's like Clark said, he doesn't get to choose who he saves.
He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he let someone die, even if it was Lex.

Thanks Ki.

I knew I got some of it right, but it was off the top of my head on one viewing.

Its sad, Lex has all the pieces of the puzzle right in front of him. He knows about Krypton, Kal-El, Zod, his followers. The stones, kryptonite, all of it. And he knows that Clark's somehow, in someway, connected to all of that. But he's just got a few of the pieces in the wrong spots. If he would just step back and take one really good look at what's in front of him he'd have figured it all out.

Take a knife, stab it into concrete. Then take a knife, and stab it into a mattress. You can tell the difference. It may be hard to go into the mattress, like it is through flesh, but it'll go in, stab all you want at the concrete, you're just gonna break the knife and hurt your own hand before you put any real damage into the concrete.

noo lex just meant he could feel it when he stabbed clark. like the pressure he exerted into stabbing clark went right back to his hand when cuz clark was like a steel wall
