It appears everyone knows about Clark according to the dialog we heard tonight......

Lex: You're the last person I ever expected to dig shrapnel out of

I can't quite rmember Clarks reponse...but it seemed he admitted a little something to Lex.

I think by that he meant he didn't expect to be helping Clark anymore rather than meaning he knows the secret.

Basically, everyone but Lex knows Clark's secret.

And here's Lex with resources out the wazoo and he can't figure out Clark. But to be fair, everytime he's close to learning something, his perspective is changed when something like tonight happens. He mentioned the chisel but I couldn't hear what Clark replied. Yet, there's Clark bleeding with shrapnel sticking out of his arm and unable to move the debris off himself.

Everyone forgets hat Jimmy and Lois have no idea that Clark has a secret. Maybe Shellby also.

Another reason I consider Smallville, Ultimate Superman.

In the Ultimate Spider-Man comics everyone and their mother knows Parker is Spider-Man except J.J.(his boss).

I think it's dumb that Lana knows, but ya... Lois, Jimmy, and Lex don't know, but thats only three people.

I don't think that its dumb that Lana knows. After 6 years, its finally time. But the way they introduced the secret to her was such a joke. It was so bad, I'm litereally laughing. You'd think that after all the talks of secrets and lies yada yada yada they'd be able to think of a more creative way to introduce Lana to Clark's secret. All of the times in Season 3, when TPTB had Lana hover around Clark's secret and eventually had her find it out and then lose her memory at the end of the episode were all better than the way that Lana found out the secret. For god's sake, even Chloe's reaction to his secret in Rush was better than Promise. They should have taken a page of off Blank. I loved that episode.

Hear hear. For a guy that's so intent on keeping his secret, Clark sure lets it be known. Don't forget all the meteor freaks that are put away in Belle Reve.

It's ironic that the one person he should have told (his best friend Lex) who would have done ANYTHING to protect his friend, is the one person Clark never trusted to tell.

Now I see why Lex is so very pissed off at Clark in the future!

At that time...a few seasons ago...wasn't it more Clark's parents that didn't want anyone knowing??

Also Lex has always been obsessed with Clark since the very first day they met..on the bridge...I wonder if Lex would have turned Clark into a Lab Speciman.

Yeah, Clark wanted to tell Pete and did so against his parent's advice. There was a girl he liked I think he wanted to tell also (Alicia?). And he wanted to really cut loose when he was on red K (but that's another story I guess). He never wanted to tell Lex.

I think if Lex found out about Clark now, he'd most likely experiment on him. Now that he now longer cares for Clark in that protective brotherly sort of way.

I haven't read this in any of the threads, so I'm not sure now, but wouldn't that mean that Lex was the one who took the chisel from Lana's drawer in Trespass? It seems to me that's what the writers were trying to tell us from that line.

people that know: Martha, Lionel, Chloe, Lana (kind of), Shelby

people that don't know: Jimmy, Lois, Lex

although the people that don't know are always suspicious

See, this is what I don't like about this episode. This episode set up a REALLY great storyline that, if the producers had the cajones to carry out, would revolutionize the Superman Mythos, and cement Smallville as an official backstory. Just like the Chlois theory. Lex. Luthor. Knows. The. Secret. Imagine what that would do to the mythos. The idea that Lex has always known that Clark Kent was Superman. No longer would Lex look Galactically Stupid in the future. To borrow from LnC.

And it's so perfect, because Lex has all the pieces in front of him. He knows about the chisel bending. But he also knows Clark is flesh and blood. But he's got the answers lying before him. Kryptonite. He knows what it does to Kryptonians. He knows that Brainiac and the others were looking for Kal-El. He knows about the Kawatche prophecies, and the stones, hell he even knows the name of the planet Clark's from.

I'd tell you what would be the capper to this series. Not CK in the suit flying towards the camera. No. Him flying towards the camera, over Smallville, and panning down to the roof of LuthorCorp, with Lex staring up at him and saying "The war has begun, my old friend.'
