Honestly, what part would Lois of had in this episode. It was a pretty full (some people will disagree) episode as it is. I would've liked more Mionel's scenes like the spoilers said.

I didn't really notice Lois was missing until after the episode was over and I thought, 'Hey where was Shelby? Probably with Lois.' :p

Mercifully, "Lois" was absent. SHe drags down every ep she's in so I always consider it a plus when she's gone. THe truth is, they don't know what to do with her and she has been absent from all the really important eps lately, anyway. SHe's a superfluous copy of Chloe and as such dull and pointless for the most part. Sad to name a character Lois then make her so appallingly dull and useless.

LOL, Lois wasn't in Progeny so what dragged down that episode? Saint Chloe perhaps.
FYI, Combat is way more important than Chloe finding her mom.

I knew it was a bad idea to introduce Lois in S4. Right now, the writers have no clue what to do with her because she doesn't become CK's love interest till Metropolis.
Don't worry, you'll see her in Noir. I'm sorry to say that the DC Lois Lane that I love has become an eye candy in this show.

Personally I am happy that they have been keeping Lois's appearances to a minimum. I have always loved Lois Lane. But Smallville was the first Superman related medium to make me dislike the character. Her appearances are always forced and it always seems like they are struggling to give her something to do, hence making her have romantic interests in guest heroes, the lightswitch into journalism, etc.. ED may have sex appeal out the yin yang, but the writers have just made her such an annoying character IMO.
Also, can someone explain to me why ED is billed as a regular cast member? I know that Erica has been with the show since S4. But she always makes appearances sparingly through out the season. She should either be a full time cast member like the rest of the cast, or be billed as a special guest star in my opinion. The fact that she is billed before AM still pisses me off to this day.
Look at Amber Benson in BTVS. Granted I didn't like Tara. However, I always felt it was wrong that she was in basically every episode from S4-S6 and she was never billed as a regular cast member. Yet ED who appears sparingly through out the season, gets a spot in the opening credits.

That's why they have "Justice and Doom" in the commercial breaks- to fill in the absence of other characters.
She was investigating the whole "Ezra" thing with the "super soldiers".

I have never really been into the Ezra Small mythology and having Lois Lane in a live action comic book sequence during a commercial break, is not the same thing as Erica starring in an episode.

I agree vyperman, why is ED billed before AM, they did this too with Jensen Ackles.
The writers really have no clue what stories to give her. Although she did mention that she'll have a stronger story arc S7, but knowing the writers it will probably either be her in leather jumpsuit or a star spangled banner two-piece.
I love Lois Lane but I'm just not sold with ED. I actually would have preferred that Vine lady in Wither to play Lois Lane.
That live action comics is just another commercial filth to shove their sponsors down our throat. cough*yaris*cough

How is Erica a perfect portrayal of Lois Lane?
Is Erica sexy? Yes. Grantes he has the sex appeal of Lois Lane down.
But the character development of Lois has been terrible. She spent the majority of the show trashing what she is supposed to love doing and being thrown into ridiculous plots and relationships. Then in her spare time she was annoying the hell out of viewers and making it seem like she was destined to be Clark's long lost sister.
Just because she was lightswitched into journalism this season doesn't mean she has been the perfect Lois Lane.
I loved Lois in the first 4 eps of S4. There was sexual tension with Clark, and she had a purpose for being there. If she had guest starred a few times per season after she said "See yah around Smallville" I could have really liked Lois. But starting with Spell, they just turned her into a cheap gimmick in my opinion.

I agree, that in the first few, very few eps of S4, she had a plot. But I guess Lois took a day off from Smallville to dance at the strip club. It seems the writers have manage to desecrate another canon.
What happened is this, the writers totally diluted the character of Lana Lang and poured it to Chloe, because in the comics, Lana becomes a reporter, news anchor too. She also was Clark's greatest protector of his secret. She even stalked him awhile and continue to pine over him. The whole journalism is then invested in Chloe. I understand that she's a fan favorite, but it totally ruined the canon when Lana Lang and Lois Lane's character has been diluted and massacred by these "writers".
I like Chloe too, but I just don't like that the writers have no consideration for the mythos.

i dont think you are ever going to see Lana become a reporter/anchor anywhere near Smallville:lol: ....how did they dilute Lana and pour it unto Chloe?...in the early seasons Lana and Chloe were on two totally different trajectories.....for the series, they needed the reporter/investigative type person to work with Clark, and then they needed the girl next door kind to be Clark's love interest etc...that was what Lana was in the mythos...his highschool sweetheart...so there really was no overlap or dilution in that respect
Chloe didnt cause Lois Lane's character to be diluted either imo. the tricky thing here is that Chloe had all these journalistic aspirations long before Lois Lane came on the show...this was her trajectory since the begining...and i think it would be dumb to all of a sudden say "ohh no Chloe isnt interested in journalism anymore...move her out to the suburbs or something"...granted, there is a risk it may happen for the future :\
the thing with Smallville is that now we have 2 confidants and 2 reporters...(and ppl have always wondered how they plan to work that) all tptb have to do is write them all better. Lois will be continuing her journalistic arc next season for sure..and we still dont know what is up for Lana..
SV never really followed the mythos exactly..though there are some basic things that will remain
on topic: where's lois?..preparing and investigating for prototype
