View Full Version : WOW - The Bent Chisel Reference
Wow - Lex mentioned the bent chisel that he hit Clark with - didn't see that reference coming so soon. At least we know who took it from Lana's (cleverly hidden by the way) drawer.

He mentioned it right before he pulled the shank out of Clark's arm.

No, he didn't take it from Lana. Lex said he saw the chisel after he stabbed Clark. He didn't take it from Clark. Actually, in the original DC for the episode after Crimson, it shows Clark straighten the chisel back out and put it back in the tool box.

Really? - It was right when they came back from commerical and Lex said 'you're the last person I thought I'd be pulling shrapnel from' and then he made the bent chisel reference.
Wow - I need to get out more lol.......

I was surprised by it too. It's almost safe to say Lex knows at least part of Clark's secret for sure. I thought they'd make a bigger deal out of it though.:\

I knew Lex took it. Which means that the director's cut scene probably never happened in the official timeline.

True, they never did show that part of the clip, so Clark taking the chisel isn't necessarily true. However, Lex could have seen the chisel, even if he didn't take it from Lana. I mean, it was in his hand, maybe he caught a glimpse before or after he dropped it.

It's good to know it was Lex who took it.
if Lex didn't tell Clark in this ep I would've just assumed it was Clark who took it from the director's cut.
I do like it that Clark always manages to lose his power, get injured to throw Lex off his trail again.

Or Mack (in Trespass) like I theorized could have been working for Lex the entire time. Lana did say this episode that Lex has always been watching over her shoulder. Maybe she knew that Lex hired Mack to do what he did (but Mack went above & beyond what Lex wanted him to do and caused a messy situation, as what happened with those Freaks in Mortal).

but i was also really refreshed to hear that lex said something about noticing. i always thought that if i had a knife in my hand, i'd be able to tell the difference between stabbing a steak, and stabbing a wall...i'm happy to hear that the writers wanted lex to notice.

In the eppy right after Crimson, when Lex confronts Clark and gives him the wedding invitation, Lex reminds him that Clark kidnapped his fiancee, forcing Clark to apologize. More continuity. I have been impressed this season in the effort to have more continuity in the writing. It makes it a lot better.

Indeed. Hooray! * golf clap to the writers*
The bent chisel and then pulling the shrapnel out of bloody Clark reminded me of Lex punching Clark and bloodying his mouth in "Mortal". Just when Lex thinks he understands Clark, Lex has to question what he thinks he knows about Clark all over again.

In the director's cut for Trespass, Clark retrieved the chisel and even straightened it out. Or at least he would have once they put in the special FX. I think that scene got cut to save money. But since it never aired, maybe in Smallville world Lex did wind up with the chisel.

I agree,I wasn't 2 suprise wit chlark attitude towards lex early on and chloe's comments of her mom.But the chisel comment caught me off guard cause I thought only lana saw it bent, but obviously lex is holdin out on what he knows.Great continuity tonight

I agree. Good to see that it was brought up again (the bent chisel) and not just thrown to the wind of 'what ever happened to.....'

I'm glad they brought that up again because it was a big thing in the "Trespass" episode. The director's cut of that episode showed us that Clark took the chisel and had it in his barn again. Based on the aired episodes, I don't know who took it from Lana's drawer.
I didn't know that Lex knew about it bending on Clark's chest. He knows a lot more than he lets on.
