She deserves someone better than that. He has too much blood on his hands and is everything that Jonathon was against.

It’s a triple slap. I am going to really feel Clark's pain if this reality comes to a head. :(

It would be disgraceful, shameful, and ignominious .
I want this character (Martha) be classy in all aspects of the show. I don’t even want her speaking to him nicely. She should be portrayed as a strong matriarch (family first, always)

If they could have written these characters as rivals, Lionel being her nemesis, now that would have been fun to watch on all levels.

That still might happen - I don't think that Martha is into Lionel like that - maybe that's wishful thinking on my part. I like to think that Martha is using Lionel to protect Clark and that when the time comes she will turn on him and show him that she's not on his side......but again - maybe that's wishful thinking. :\

The only way I want to see them together for anything is if Martha sets up Lionel in a scene that follows the last option in my April Fool's thread:

mionel makes me mad like lexana makes me mad.
in both situations the woman is dating their x's most hated person.
i know its a writers plot device to annoy the viewers.
i hate acting like such a writers pawn.
Guilty as charged.

guilty- at the beggining, when lionel started to be good and help the keth's i thought about it *shy face*.
but after the 16th episode- i had to vote 'Never! Its repulsive just thinking about it' :)
is it just me or that you really can't undertand what his up to?

It's a disgusting thought. Jonathan was such a wonderful, great guy. Lionel is his COMPLETE opposite.

I voted for never! Just the thought of it alone is more than I can handle.

Never! My god this is the worst potential relationship ever.

If they want Martha to have a relationship with someone...I am quite positive there are better picks in the universe.

I've always thought the idea of Lionel and Martha was just....gross.

Ah - so it comes out - Martha doesn't trust Lionel. At least that part was music to my ears.

I'd like it to happen for a bit just because of the hilarity of Clark and Lex being stepbrothers :rotfl:

I think it would be nice for Martha to start dating again, but I'm not sure about Lionel. Martha even said herself that she doesn't fully trust Lionel b/c she knows he can't truely change.

i did think it was interesting that this was the first non-redK clark conversation with martha recently. it was interesting to watch for me.

edit: i meant non-redk convo about mionel.

Don't know how to spell the sound of vomit.

Martha and Jonathon had a pure true love. Now she's turned her back on who she used to be. She just likes Lionel's power. She's been a farmer's wife for so long, she's now enjoying being back in the fast stepping business world where she started before marrying Johnathan. I think she'll come to her senses with a big snap! And realize she never truly mourned for Johnathan. And realize the feelings she has for Lionel are not really for Lionel.

What I don't get is the fact that Martha is so fast to forgive Lionel for all his past transgressions against her and her real family (Jonathan and Clark). Also, Lex is always talking about a "darkness inside" that he cannot control, he often says that its in his family and he sooner or later he'll give into it completely. For the most part, this has been true for the Luthors, yet the Martha just looks past it. I think that the writers have really messed up by putting her with Lionel, unless somehting is going to happen pretty soon here that will open her eyes.

Martha said in the last episode that basically she didn't trust Lionel. i don't think it's ever gonna happen (i voted never-too creepy)

I'd rather see Martha hook up with Alfred Pennyworth than the likes of Lionel. I missed about ten minutes of Labyrinth because I spent that time calming my friend down after seeing the name "Martha Luthor".

In my opinion, I find Mionel to be the biggest mistake the writers have made so far. It seems like it is making Martha have a conflict of interest. Throughout this season we have hearch Martha flip-flop on the whole Clana thing; one minute she says to leave her alone and the next she tells him to go for it. Maybe she knew Lionel's plan to "protect" Clark and thats why she told him to let it go, but then she felt guilty about and told him to go for her. Martha trying to control Clark's destiny along with Lionel is pretty far out there though, so I doubt and hope this is not true
