I had a whole smartass schtick to explain this, but whatever. The escapees from the Phantom Zone who were actually PHANTOMS (like Baern) could be sent back using the crystal. People who are like Aldar and Titan, are actually in corporeal form, and cannot be defeated through use of the El Crystal. I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson today here folks. Or a review. Whatever.

because...it fired off fancy beams of energy. theyre fancy. zoners fear them. not to mention if clark didnt have his powers in the zone, im pretty sure the rest of them wouldnt either.

It won't work against a physical zoner but I'm sure it has other abilities, Clark just don't know how to use it.

The Crystal only works on energy.
Like Zod in Lex body (drawn out) or by absorbing the energy of Baern.


Its all about energy...
If you are a Phantom within a host, you can be defeated. But if you haven't turn into a phantom and still have your original humanoid body. you can't.

I thought the crystal was dead after all the energy in it was used to re-energize the fortress. If it still has a purpose then it will be safe there until its needed.

According to Raya the crystall is part of the fortress. so its transfering energy from the crystal into the fortress.

i didn't saw the crystal glow out.. did you? ;)

My suggestion is, that the S-crystal might be open a Door, similiar like the oxagon in the cave.

Raya made reference to the crystal having just enough energy to power the fortress. They panned out- it was black and then went to white. When the ships brain ran out of energy it turned to ash, we would have to assume the crystal did too.
