From day one I have been a totally loyal fan and except for Red-K have always been on Clarks side. I hurt for him and want to protect him and always excuse him. But this was not the Clark I know and love. There were no Superman traits anywhere. He totally threw me. No one, I mean no one feels his pain like I do!!
But my heart couldnt go out to him, he was ulgly, mean, dark, brutal, cold and oh so lost!

Lana's loss was heart breaking as she sat and suffered in her
darkness.

I even (almost) felt for Lex and his mad darkness!!

But Clark is not supposed to be dark, Superman is not supposed to be dark. He is supposed to be kind and noble and selfsacrificing. The unwillingness to kill is supposed to be an integral part of his makeup. Im not saying he shouldnt be angry,
but his behavior truly disturbed me. It has nothing to do with his not being human, but rather with his sense of humanity.

He needs to see the light soon and he needs to see and feel
the light of goodness to his very core!! I want my Clark back!

He's not Superman yet.

that's what I was thinking. It is painfully obvious that Clark isn't anywhere near being ready to be superman. Some of the things that clark does, is not the superman we all know and love.

Well its not like Superman has never killed anyone before. I believe the first time he fought Doomsday he had to kill him because there was no other way?

exactly he isnt superman yet, so he is allowed to be dark and act like this... maybe he will learns something from being so "ulgly, mean, dark, brutal, cold and oh so lost" and he will use that lesson he learned in the future to be superman..

That's kinda what I took from this. I think it's all a part of his evolution.

Darkness really has reigned since Season 3 I've thought. Season 1 was really light, in which is should be. Season 2 had some complications but for the most part was fairly light. But season 3, starting with Lex going insane became really dark. Most episodes looked like they took place in a dark cave and there really wasn't much good feeling after watching episodes. I'm not saying I didn't like them or that some darkness is not neccessary but please. I really wish they could find a balance....season's 3-6 overall better writing/acting combined with seasons 1,2's feeling. I guess what I don't understand is why people/critics think darkness=good television. No it doesn't... I know life isn't disneyworld but lets atleast look at the positive. You know what made me think about it, I saw a picture of KK smiling the other day, forgot what that looked like.

^Actually, I've only seen like one smile from Lana since she's been with Lex. I don't understand her, he clearly doesn't make her happy.

And um Clark didn't kill anybody techinically. The zoner landed on his own spear. And this episode showed Superman in Clark the most in any season I watched. He felt bad for the death of somebody even though he was a total monster. Clark felt responsible for the death even though he was protecting himself and Lois. He showed remorse for the loss. If that wasn't him avting like Superman than I don't what is.

For more thoughts on Clark "killing", read the "Superman, Killer?" thread. Very interesting discussion.

Like someone said, he isn't Superman yet. And he must learn a lot things about life, he has rises and falls for reason. That makes him weak now, but in the future, he will be really Super.

Dont judge him because he is not like you want he should be.

the path to greatness is not lightswitch, it is a journey. Same same has been said about the path to darkness on the show about lex being evil.

He is not even behaving like a man,you can imagine that is far from becoming the iconic hero."I don't have what I want so,I will smasch that guy's face SO bad!"It was more than alright to fight that bad dude but,he did it for the wrong motives.I would understand if it was season 4 or even 5 but,it is almost finale chapter. Can we see a hint that he can behave like responsable person before he becomes the man of steal because it won't be beleivable if he changes suddenly on the last episode

I'm hoping this dark Clark will finally be what get's him over that annoying drama queen that is Lana Lang.

i couldn't relate to him either...not because of his fight with titan, but with the way he was treating his friends and mom. maybe he's gonna have this dark period, but when alicia dies, when his dad dies, when all this other bad stuff happened, he didn't get like this. i would think he'd be farther along in this evolution of his...maybe they (tptb) can use this as a way to bring martha back to relevance.

I think it's more than just Lana marrying Lex. So many bad things have happened for Clark. It's got to wear on you after awhile. His attitude shift is probably based on what he can control, since there has been so much he couldn't control.

And as for dark, I don't think it could be any darker than Vessel. Maybe I spoke to soon, we haven't seen this year's finale.
