all of the files regarding Lanas condition. Along with a sonogram picture of the "baby".
I believe it was Lana's medical records, either from her recent stay where she "miscarried" the baby or the ones from the doctor that Lex killed. And the ultrasound picture, too.
The entire time I was thinking, "Doesn't Lex own a paper shredder?"

They were the hospital records about lana. lana had told lex that she wanted the records b/c dr. langstan was dead, lex already had the records and was burning them. And yes, that was a picture of a fetus that was burning.

I'm sure he owns many, but burning the papers is so much more dramatic, I suppose.

Fake pics? But why the nightmare in "Promise"? I don't know. I'm very confused about this story. *scratches head*

If there was never a baby, how can there be a picture of their baby? If Lana was really pregnant, why did Lex put something in her drink to make her lose the baby? I have no idea whats going on...

Burning the files makes more sense than shredding them. A nosy maid or housekeeper could scoop up the shredded paper and try and make sense of it, even if it took awhile. Paper gets burnt to a crisp and nothing can be put back together.

The whole baby no baby thing makes my head hurt.
Will Lana become Smallvilles' cat lady?

well i really think there was a baby, one becasue lex burnt picture, two lex dreaam, three the doctor said he would tell lana about the babys condition, and fourth there was a new doctor to say the baby was died ( but lex could have paid her off)

There was also Lex's tears at the end, when he burned the sonogram. Since Lana wasn't there, he wasn't putting on an act for anyone. So what were those tears about?

There's kind of a parallel between Clark and Lex. They both struggle with decisions and both really care about the people in their lives. The main difference is that while Clark usually chooses the right thing and feels bad about it, Lex usually chooses the wrong thing and feels bad about it. That's why he was crying. He's got something evil up his sleeve, but he still knows deep inside that he's hurting Lana.

lex is covering his tracks, evidence, and other things that could tie him to a possible questionable pregnancy (please don't post spoilers in current episode threads)

If Lex wasn't behind Lana's miscarriage then he wouldn't be burning evidence and killed that doctor in "Promise".

LOL - Lex wouldn't shred them. Lana's got time to kill and she suspects fowl play I'm sure.........he'd come home and find her on the floor trying to piece them together.

i bet there was something in her drink that he gave her. if you notice when she takes a drink Lex has that look like he is up to something.
I figure since the doctor was dead and lex knew something was different about the baby, he gave her something to abort it.

We don't know much about Lana's pregnancy right now (this is a spoiler free zone). But I want to point out that in "Justice", the doctor said that "as you know, this is not a normal pregnancy, but it is on track". Of course, one line from an episode does not mean much. The writers have been known to change storylines in the middle of the season. Like, in season 4, Jason Teague was against his Mom, and then he was working with her. I think the writers changed their minds about the Teague story.
Lex did kill the Doctor, so there certainly is something about Lana's pregnancy that Lex wants to hide from her. But it seems like something that Lex should not be doing in the first place. Lex is pretty evil, but he does love Lana, and I just don't see why he would be doing anything bad to her. The baby plot only makes sense to me if it was a normal pregnancy.

I can't quite make out what it says on those medical records for Lana, but what I can see is this:
"TESTS ORDERED: COMPREHENSIVE METAB PANEL LIP PROFILE Wxxx xxxxxxx STIMULATING HORMONE PSA SCREEN"
I put a small "x" where I couldn't make out the letters.

Nothing really fishy on the top page. The third test is a thyroid stimulating hormone test and lipid not limp profile. all tests were normal. These are normal tests to run on pregnant women I think.
The bottom page showed an unusual amount of narcotics administered, esp. to a pregnant woman. And anticoagulants are blood thinners. Can't think why she would be given those.
There were also controlled drugs given to her that are unnamed. 2nd page has the most fishy info.

Yeah, but who knows if those medical terminology are legit. Maybe, AlMiles just borrowed a medical book in the library and pointed at the first word that sounds interesting. Those are prop papers and sometimes it could just be jibberish.
Those medical records might not be from the emergency but from the "good doctor" because it still has Lang which should have said Luthor if it was from the Combat scenes.

Have to agree there. Don't know any preg women who get a PSA screen done. That's a prostate test. They do have Lang instead of Luthor, so they can't be from her miscarriage. What is really strange though, Dr Albright is the referring Dr, not Dr. Langston. Lana never met her until that night.

I think Lex's tears for Lana were fake.
I think his tears while burning the documents were more of regret at the life he wasn't going to have rather than the loss of a fake child.
All about Clark

^Agreed. I think Lex spends so much time trying to convince people of his lies that he actually buys it for a period and burning the baby picture reminded him of the fact that he doesn't get that lie he came to love. I was actually surprised he didn't have more emotion with Lana when she said she was sorry. That her and her emotions were less important to him than his own feelings of loss.
And by the way, I'm with the camp that believes the baby was faked with drugs as well as it's termination.
