Ok sure I know that they have find a way to keep 22 episodes going until May, but can't they do what they did last year. Wait 2 months for a new episode, and then just go from there. Now it's like 2 episodes wait a month, 3 episodes wait a month.....Arrgggg...
Not to mention there's a comercial every 5 minutes....
Sorry just letting off some steem

No trailer for Progeny yet. :(
Could be any time in the next month.
I agree....it's frustrating. Why can't they at least give us two in a row or add a few more episodes to the season. Really is it that much to ask!!!

The network decides the breaks, NOT the writers/producers/directors of Smallville.

Yup, im starting to have some beef with The CW. I mean I only watch two (sometimes three) shows on that channel, but idk. It is the channels first year, so they might just be working out some bugs and stuff.

didn't we only have 2 breaks in season 5? I don't get it. Every damn show on TV is doing this. Heroes, Supernatural, House. what gives?

Year in, year out.
Series in, series out.
It's the same gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments.
May sweeps still hold true for maximum viewer numbers for the networks, and there's no a priori reason why the CW should be any different.
The networks have responsibility to the fans? Well, no, but so long as some cling to that ill-minded fallacy, perhaps some folks should start a writing campaign about having 28 consecutive weeks of episodes with lessened returns. No wait, I'm sorry; how about 52 consecutive weeks of episodes with no breaks for the people who don't get the front-title credits but who are more than responsible for putting the show together. Oh yeah, that'll learn the networks, learn`em real good ...
So, wait ... didn't we see this the "last time" on
name-your-show-of-your-own-choosing-in-the-last-N-years?
Haven't we always seen this?

Do any of you watch a TV show regularly other than Smallville?
EVERY show like Smallville, Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, House, Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill, The OC, etc., does this.
They start in September and in order to run through to May, they have to take constant breaks. The network only buys so many episodes per season.
Only shows like 24 and America's Next Top Model start in January/February and run straight through without breaks to May.
Stop complaining. It happens every year with every show. Smallville has always been like this. It's nothing new.
It's not the CW. It's not FOX. It's not ABC. Yes, those networks decide when the breaks are, but very few shows have more than 25 episodes per season.

...I agree....was it me or was there like 15 minutes of commercials during the break...and this 3 weeks before a new episode really sucks and makes me not wanna watch ....

I think they always do.
this is getting annoying, taking so many breaks. it wasnt like this before. They would have a least three breaks thought out the season in the past. Thankgiving, Christmas/New Years and Easter.

yeah they should just have like a 6-8 week break ONCE around xmas time like last seasons. they shouldnt do this stop start business...you get all into it and then you ahve to wait till april 19th for the next hour of smallville :(

Smallville took a long break between "Freak" and "Promise" because CW didn't want this show to compete against "American Idol". I think people are complaining because we just had a four week break and now after two fresh episodes, we have to wait another month for "Progeny".

Most other shows do at least 24 episodes a year....Smallville has always done only 22...so in Season 7 if it is the last, they should do 36 like the Networks used to do in the good ole days. That will make up for lacking two epi's a year.

I don't know about american commercial breaks but here in The Netherlands the happen every 15 minutes and the take about 10-12 minutes each. Reeaaallly annoying!!
Good thing I get Smallville of the net with the commercials cut out :D

commercials dont bug me too much the first time i watch episodes, cuz sometimes i need a few to process things and calm down and grab a ciggy lol. but i feel that the commercials are becoming too frequent and too long. if you notice around the :30 mark you have like 4 minutes of episode and then like 4 minutes of commericlals and then the last few minutes therese anotherr commerical

It is more like this. It takes approximately 10-12 days to complete an episode, (this includes principal shooting, editing, special effects, etc) most shows start production in late July, Early august and have about 4-5 episodes in the can at the start of the season, but, as you can tell, this buffer gets used up pretty quick. They actually schedule breaks to give the production company time to catch up and to give the actors some time off. (They deserve breaks too) So, it is not some master plan to piss us off but just what it takes to run a tv show.
I personally am upset that they do not do 25+ episodes per season anymore (Star Trek: TOS had 29 episodes its first season) but production costs keep going up and one way to keep control is to make fewer episodes. I think that there are very few shows that do 24 or more episodes (24 is the only one that comes to mind right away.)
