We all know that at times Clark can be a wuss especially when it concerns Lana!!!
How much of a wuss do you think he will/was be today???!!!
1 being lowest and 10 highest!!!
1. He's ready to become Superman!!!
2. He's iconic CK!!
3. Get that fortress of solitude warmed up!!!
4. At last...!!! He's finally realised he's in love will Chloe!!!
5. He's finally got over Lana!!!!
6. Can someone please buy Lana a Kryptonite neckless for Christmas!!!
7. Oh my God...!!!! He's talking to Shelby!!!
8. She's pregnant & married Clark!!!
9. If he mentions Lana one more time I'm gonna get a shot gun!!!
10. Can you give me Kryptonite bullets with that shot gun!!!

its even funnier backwards
FINALLY, it looks like he's moved on from the wuss in the last episode.
He's ready to make a "difference", and considers his feelings for Lana a "distraction".
Good job, Clarky boy!

This episode showed CK the closet to becoming Superman in all six seasons. After Titan was killed he showed remorse for the death and also second guessed himself about if he could have done it any other way. That is classic Superman. No matter how evil the villian they still deserve the right to live. So I say 1 this is the closest we have ever seen him to the Man of Steel.

Having emotions and feelings?
WHAT A BABY.
He needs to grow up and be a man, right??
Superman doesn't have a heart. He doesn't feel things. He doesn't get emotional. He doesn't, dare I say, FALL IN LOVE.
Clark Kent is SUCH a wuss.

I liked seeing Clark this way, he redeemed himself a little bit from last week. But what made me really pissed off was the fact that he was angry b/c of Lana being married to Lex, what's up with that?!?! :(

Hello? If you were Superman would you want your love interest to be with your Evil Nemisis? Even if you know you can't be together. By the way I think Clark is majorly pissed off, I wouldn't call him a Wuss. From the feedback of Combat I think he has right to let out his anger, especially if you're told to Meet Someone at *time* and they don't show up (Lana) and then you go see them to see wtf happened and they turn a 180 on you and say I have a change of heart in a mere few hours, that would honestly give you a major emotional blow.
By the way, What Chloe said to him in the Wine Cellar about his emotions is true, and I think that's one of Superman's Weakspots. He has saved Lana so many times he couldn't save her from Marrying a Monster, if you were him Wouldn't you get pissed and emotional about it? I would
Next we'll be seeing Superman Slogans saying "Real Men Of Steel Don't Cry."

Actually, the whole point of the episode was missed it seems....at least how I viewed this episode.
This is NOT how we as viewers are supposed to want Clark to be. Yes, he was hot..and I love TW in all his glory as this type of Clark..but the black was a Kal-el look because Clark was more Kryptonian than human. He still hasn't found his balance between the two sides of himself..thus, he is no closer than being Superman than he was in Promise. Promise was to show his VERY human emotions and very human reactions to those emotions...Combat was to show the complete opposite of non human traits coming to surface due to very human pain and rage.
So the point is he still needs to find his balance between the two.

I agree....that is how I viewed his actions in this episode.....I really enjoyed watching him struggle with both his Kryptonian side and his "human" side.....

FINALLY! Someone who sees the light! Amen.
Those who thought "Promise" was just about Clark Kent being in love.....and that being in love means being a wuss, actually can't see the horizon for the fence. Totally missing the bigger picture there.
It's great to read the comments of someone who has not only taken a step up to the fence, but actually bothered looking over it for a change. Fantastic insight.

I'm glad that Clark decided to actually go and do something for once and not just sit and mope in his loft, but he did it all for the wrong reasons. He only steped up because he was mad about the Lexana wedding. Like someone said before he needs to find a balance between his human and kryptonian side. He won't become superman until he actually wants to fight for justice and help out not just because he wants to take out his anger. I thought he had learned that lesson after vengeance but he is a BDA after all.

I couldn't agree more. Too often, I'm reading comments on this forum where people are so impatient with the storyline. They want to see Superman NOW. Clark's development has taken awhile, but I'd rather have it this way. I'd rather let the writers show us how difficult and intricate Clark's journey to his destiny is. Turning into Superman should not be something that happens overnight.

I agree, once Clark becomes Superman, Smallville is over. The writers have always said that this is the story of Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. Of course they are going to drag that process out as long as they can in order to keep the show going. However, it appears that the handwriting is on the wall for Smallville. If I'm not mistaken both KK and MR have indicated that year 7 is their last year with Smallville. If there is a year 7, and that looks pretty positive, that is when Clark will really move toward his destiny.
I can handle the waiting more than losing the show.
