This was a very interesting format for the episode

the whole "luthor wedding day 4:43" then jumping back in time to "luthor wedding day 10:07"

did anyone else think it was confusing? i did see the genius in it, i loved how they showed the different scenes from both lex/lana's perspectives but the sequence was pretty confusing at first

IMO it created an immense vacuum.

The jumping around was annoying. If they had had more time to do it right it might have worked.

i like this style in general, with movies and such.....but i kept thinking throughout that i would have to go back and watch the episode over again to pick up on everything....i agree it was a bit annoying but interesting and different

Best part about the episode was the formatting. The fact that it first confused, then delivered, was awesome. I like any show, movie, book, etc that makes me go, "WTF is going on?" then answers my questions and then some. The scene where Lana tells Clark she's not marrying Lex, then we later on find out why was great. It just goes to show that stories to not always have to be a straight line from point A to point B. Some of the best stories of our time have been told out of order.

same here. it creates a build-up...very enthralling and gives a good quality feel to a show

Think of Pulp Fiction. That movie didn't even give you the courtesy of a timestamp so that you could piece it together afterwards.

Over all I think it was very well done. Great acting and great directing.

I had a difficult time figuring out what was real and what was merely perspective at first. But, you guys are right. The formatting/editing/sequencing did keep us thinking and wondering what's going on. I kept waiting for everyone to "wake up" and they would all be back at the Talon or someplace.

ITA. When I first watched Lana's reaction to Clark in Lex's study, I thought she was giving in to not marrying Lex so easily, but then when I watched it from her point of view, it made sense why she decided not to marry Lex.

The formatting was fine. It reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Homer gets his thumb cut off. Seeing the same day from three different perspectives was interesting. I also liked how when we saw Lana's perspective, Clark's superspeed made it look like he just disappeared.

Quentin Tarantino is and always will be a legendary directing genius just for that film alone (let alone his other great film triumphs). It never fails to entertain no matter many times I watch it. Just as entertaining the 5 thousandth time as it was the very first time I watched it in the theater on it's opening day.

That being said: I think Al Gough and Miles just might be a Tarantino fan, or whoever directed this episode is.;)

Zed: "Bring out the gimp."

Pawnshop owner: "I think the gimp is sleeping."

Zed: "Well I guess you're just gonna have to go wake him up now won't ya?"

I usually like this type of formatting. However, IMO the episode was poorly directed and choppy. It just kind of started right into the plot and everything was crammed together in weird orders. It could have been done much better, IMHO.

The formatting was cool. I though the beginning was incredibly sad wih that music and the Clark realizations...talk about a downer!

I wasn't paying attention to the timestamp jumps in the show until a little before halfway through I eventually caught on. It was something new and I think made the episode climatic.

I thought the format was very creative. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It might have possibly been confusing the first time, but once you understand the way the show was going, you adjusted.

At first I was angry at it because I didn't get it was being done by different POV. So I was screaming at my TV as to why everything was going by so fast.

But after I understood what was going on, I started to really, really like it.

Like us seeing Clark's super speed through the eyes of someone else who isn't Clark. That was cool!

I loved it. I think the art direction of the whole episode was wonderful.

It's nice when a show can change things up and not feel completely out of character. Keeps things interesting.

I wasn't confused because right now I'm reading a bunch of books from an author who does that all the time. I feel like her books had me in training for this very episode :)

I liked it. I remember an episode I liked in The Simpsons doing this as well.

I thought it was pretty cool. A little strange at first, but when I watched it a second time I really liked it.

The dream sequences in addition to the jumping around made for a slightly confusing episode. At first I didn't realize what was going on, until after Clark talks to Lana in the study and she says she's changed her mind and will meet Clark later to explain. They went to commercial afterward, and I thought that had been a dream sequence. After they came back I realized it wasn't a dream, and caught on they were jumping around on the wedding day.

It could've been handled a bit better, IMO.

I'm kinda slow with these kinda things and I was sooooo confused at first.

i liked it, but only because of the clock that helped me keep up. also because i knew this was an important episode, i wasn't goofing around on the laptop, playing with my dog, etc. so i thought it was kinda cool.

there was no easier way to have both lana's and chloe's pov for the cellar, lana and lex's povs from the library, etc.

Dammit. Everything I wanted to say, you've already said. :)

I would need to see the episode again to completely understand the time sequence but the first time around was particularly confusing.

I got very confused. Each time they showed the invitation like thing, I thought there was an error in my tv, and it was jumping backwards. I thought nothing was revealed this episode, only new barriers were put up. it was very frustrating

The formatting of the episode was a little confusing at first, but I loved it how after they showed some more POV's, everything started to click together. :)

i loved how they showed the different point of views of Lana, Clark, Lex and Chloe and that each time, it's like putting another piece of the puzzle together.

That's exactly how I feel- it was a welcome change from the typically predictable structure of a Smallville episode.

I liked it after I had watched it, but for the first half hour or so I was pretty confused. The only thing that really puzzled me was that they threw in dream sequences. Everytime something unexpected happened(especially Clark walking in while Lana was writing the note to Lex, the first time), I was thinking to myself, "Oh, this has to be a dream."

I would have liked the format better if it had been done better. I agree it was necessary to keep from revealing certain things too soon. But it could have been arranged better. Exactly how, i'm not sure--I'm not a director. But TPTB are. They could have put it together in a more climactic and less choppy way.

^^ Stop complaining Peat! It was okay, & I liked how it was different from any other episode they've done.
