View Full Version : Why did Chloe go tell Lex, Lana is missing?

Not that there is not enough things to think about in this episode, but I did not understand Chloe going to Lex telling him about Lana not being where she should be at. She told Clark to go save Lana. Lana disappears. Chloe knows Clark will keep Lana safe. Why didn't Miss Supersmart at least cover for her, until she finds out what is going on?
(Of course that then also leads into why didn't Lana ask Chloe about Clark and if Lionel could actually hurt or kill Clark. She does know that Chloe is an expert on everything Clark. Lana herself saw Clark superspeed, rip a steel door off the hinges as if it was paper, put the door back, use heat vision to fix the door, and then again take off quicker than a speeding bullet. She heard Chloe talk about bullets bouncing off him, him being able to run into burning buildings, and that he is a man of steel who thinks nothing of saving other people all the time. Sorry thinking too much. I wonder if the writers thought of any of this too much?)

....because once again today Chloe was used as a plot device and as nothing else.
Her character becomes less and less important it seems.
Hence the ridiculous meteor freak storyline...

nope..you are not thinking too much at all. your questions are right on point.
everything and everyone in this episode was OOC and turned upsode down so that it would appear that a sacrifice was made for Clark....characters had no consistency, morals are thrown out the window...and tonight..no one really thought anything through....it was all choppy....
your questions are valid:
Didnt Lex just facilitate some experiments on Chloe? why the hell would she go TELL Lex that Lana was missing, after she told CK to try stop the marriage?? hell, if i were her i'd hightail it out of the wedding too...
why didnt Lana ask her Maid of Honor about it, or warn Clark in some way?..maybe...you know..give him a heads up about it!!! she can marry Lex and Lionel could STILL kill him!
ohh but wait..i guess she is going to fix that problem in later episodes and try to save Clark again.

I honestly dont think Chloes a meteor freak. Tobias was freaking blind. He couldnt tell who was who. I bet he saw Clark and thought it was Chloe, thats why he said she has powers, and when he dropped whatever it was that he dropped, Clark superspeed picke dit up or whatever, I bet he looked and saw Chloe where Clark was standing and thought it was him, hence Clark being normal.
Thats my theory =\

I can't believe Chloe was even there, after 'Freak'...
Have TPTB lost their minds?!?

They really retconned both Chloe and Martha's character in Promise where both suddenly gave Clark advice saying that he should tell Lana the truth. Makes no sense.

I think they both said that because they didn't think lana should be marrying Lex.
Dating is okay cause its not too serious, but marriage is huge, and I dont think either of them trust him.

Chloe's role was clearly that of a plot device. What she said to Clark were clearly the words the writers wanted Lana to hear.
They pooped on Chloe's character, in this scene. They couldn't have cared less.

Wasn't that bizarre? Its like they just threw that in. And wouldn't Chloe be all bouncey and happy if she thought Lana wasn't going to show up? Instead, Chloe looked all upset.
It was so weird.

There's a difference between not wanting Lana to marry Lex because he is evil and suddenly trying to push Clark into being with Lana. From that standpoint, Martha and Chloe's character made no sense in this episode after they have been preaching to the guy that he needs to move on. I agree with InLove with Chloe, it was a plot device. As a matter of fact, Chloe's whole talk with Clark down in the cellar was one big plot device to give Lana all of the missing pieces of the puzzle.

whats even better..i just absolutely LOVE how Chloe and Lex talk like they are just the best of buddies(insert sarcasm).....coming to Lex to tell him Lana was missing just screams "I'm lookin' out for ya pal!"....
i could understand from psycho Lex that he would talk to her like nothing was up, and he wasnt just watching her on a screen last week....but Chloe looking out for Lex????? please....

Yeah, does Chloe understand that she was just tortured by Lex in Freak? I'm not so sure that she does because she's treating the guy like nothing ever happened to her and that is a disgrace. What are we going to get another retcon in a later episode where Chloe will suddenly hate Lex again? Give me a break. Everything was just so out of place in this episode. How about a scene with Lex monitoring Chloe? Give me something to show a continuation of Freak, I got nothing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought when Chloe told Lex that Lana was M.I.A. it occured BEFORE Lana woke up from what appeared to be a dream? I thought this epi followed the weird time sequence thing that Reckoning did. Did I miss something? Lol.

I think people already brought this one up and it doesn't work out.
Clark is not a meteor freak so the blind kid would not be able to recognize him or see anything different about him. He has abilities because he's from Krypton, not because of the meteor shower. Therefore, Chloe must have been affected by the meteor showers somehow.
I believe if you read the spoilers page, you'll find out something about this in future episodes.

I wasn't surprised, I'm so uses to characters *cough* Clark *cough* going from disliking Lex in one episode, to then liking him enough to ask him for favor or something in good well in another it's so... played out.
So for Chloe or Lana or Martha or Lois to do it, it's like so season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with Clark. :p

That's the dilemma, no???
I mean, c'mon. Who should Chloe suspect to be responsible for her torture/abduction, hm???
This really, really stinks.
Very obviously, TPTB have not thought a lot about the order of the epis, this season (they have moved them around a lot already...).
I think 'Progeny' will be the next retcon festival...

I'm still trying to figure out why chloe is even speaking to lex. She flip flops her attitudes to much for me to keep up with. Besides, shouldn't she have been happy that lana wasn't showing up? She knows Lex isn't good for Lana, yet she's concerned that she isn't there.

When Chloe told Lex about Lana missing, it was during Lex's view of the wedding day. The dream I think was Clark's not Lana's, at the begining of the episode. I know what you mean though, the sequence through me off at first too. But when I saw Lex wake up from his dream and the thousands of times they flashed the Wedding Day invitation, I caught on to the fact that it was from 3 different perspectives.

i just sum it up by saying what we already know: continuity is non existant. Dont forget also, that Chloe's shoulder has completely healed after last week...not a scar or blemish for all that burning...
so along with the gone GPS device, the scar is gone AND the memory of Lex's involvement in her torture.
fun...oh well, dont worry...everyone will hate Lex again soon....perhaps weddings just bring out that warm, fuzzy feeling in all characters huh?....
Promise: One Wedding, One Love...for Lex (or is it for Lana? damn.now i'm confused)
:p
