It is Lana's turn to protect Clark. I never thought I'd see the day.

The episode was very sad. It was like Reckoning all over again, except this time its on Clark. I really love that, not only did Lana know who Clark is, she also learned his real feelings for her.

I was crying so much hahaha.

As awesome as Kristin was during the wine cellar scene, I was hoping there was more emotion after Clark and Chloe left the cellar, like Lana falling back on her behind and just crying uncontrollably over what she just heard from Clark.

I just wanted to see more of Lana just understanding why Clark did what he did.

I liked how they returned the table around, now Lana going to know what Clark had to go through to protect her.

What I love though is that both Clark and Lana know when they're lying, so Clark saw right through her when she said she wanted to be with Lex.

This is an moment in both of their lives that once it ends will help them build a stronger relationship that will bond them together as friends for the rest of their lives.

Lana will now be living in Clark's shoe in a way.

Honestly, I didn't see it as "Done for good." Why? First of all, Clark still LOVES her very much. Lana is willing to sacrifice her own happiness to protect Clark and once he learns what she's done for him, he'll love her even more. That is the purpose of the secret reveal. Lana learned what Clark has done for her all these years and she realizes that she still very much loves Clark and she was in denial of her feelings for him. Clark will come to that realization at some point. He will also learn the truth.

You have to realize, Lana's going to be fighting her own battles with the Luthors. Clark has an advantage, he's got powers and could easily protect himself from Lex and Lionel. Lana doesn't. She is in on this on her own without anyone's help.

Clark and Lana are far from over.

I think a simple divorce would be all too simple. If a baby comes, we also have a custody battle. Looks to me as if there will be a tragic end to the pregnancy, followed by a violent separation.

Exactly, this is why I now love this storyline, because Lana going to get a great understanding of what Clark had to go through this whole time.

But unlike Clark, Lana has someone actually telling her that Clark going to die if she doesn't stay away from him. :\

Not true. No one might've told Clark that Lana was going to die if he doesn't stay away from but Clark SAW her death happened. He saw that if he doesn't stay away from Lana, she will die and that was shown in Reckoning.

And that's the reason he didn't tell her in the second timeline.

Great Clana - albeit sad Clana. But I believe if there is any good to this marriage, it will be that Lana will understand and respect what Clark's gone through for her - until she ends the marriage, which, I hope, will occur when she finds out the truth about the baby.

Clark and Lana have a love that is so deep they are willing to sacrifice anything to keep it or keep harm from each other. Theirs is not a "normal" situation and yes it is full of angst and bad judgement but now that the "Truth" is out , I will sit back and see how it all plays out but relish in the fact that they BOTH deeply LOVE one another! That will not change!!

So anybody can say what they will, but Lana is THE iconic love of Clark Kent !!

She hasn't made a smart decision in 6 years? I can think of a couple smart ones. Everyone on the show has made dumb decisions. As for this one, there's really nothing she can do. Well, she seemed to give up without a fight. Did she consult Chloe or Martha, the people who could have given her important advice? No, she was weak, and frightened and chose to give into the threat. That's a poor decision IMO....

It isn't like she had all day to think it over and remember, she was in the Luther mansion and Lionel had already said he had been watching her, so more than likely he was watching. Of course she was frightened, but I don't think anyone else would have handled it differently, considering the situation.

He might have, but is it worth the risk with Lionel? This is Lionel Luther, who's capable of pretty much everything and we'll go all the way, where as Clark might not. I mean, look at it this way, best case scenario, Clark and Lana get away. But what about Chloe? What about Martha? Think they would be safe and I'm sure Lionel would make Clark know that.

Lana WASN'T going to marry Lex!!!! She found out Clark's secret (sort of) and obviously doesn't care, so now she realized THAT was what had broken her and Clark up. And I guess she could have lived with that, because she decides NOT to marry Lex and to meet Clark in the stupid barn when her wedding is going on!

SO THAT IS WHAT MADE ME HAPPY! Lana learns part of Clark's secret, is OK with it, and decides to break up with Lex and get back with Clark!!!!!!!!

Stupid Lionel (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) HAS TOTALLY EARNED HIS NAME OF MB!!!!!!!!!! He literally forces her to get married against her will for some stupid thing we dont' even know about!! and Lana only marries Lex because she is protecting Clark for a change! The look back at the end totally told us that she is obviously in love with him!!

REAL CLANA!!!! I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm just so happy!!! I barely care that Lex and Lana are married, because it's not going to last. Loved the episode....Loved the Clana....and I thought Tom and Kristin did an AMAZING job with their characters....

I swear my poor heart went through an emotional breakdown while watching....I truly felt their desperation and pain...

Also, I still can't believe that after 6 years of waiting....of hoping....of thinking this will be the episode only to be teased.....Lana FINALY knows.....although the extent of her knowledge is still unclear but still she knows enough....she actually saw Clark use several of his powers AND remembered it lol I still can't believe it....it just seems so sureal to me...Not only that but like some of you have mentioned she also overheard what was in Clark's heart....loved it!

I also enjoyed how they incorporated the tornado rescue flashback into the episode....

There were definately so many things I enjoyed regarding Clark and Lana in this episode that I am still on a high from it :)

I think "Promise" brought a new depth to Clana. I absolutely loved the scene where Lana was evesdropping on Clark and Chloe's conversation about her upcoming nuptials. Kristin's reaction to why Clark pulled away from Lana was golden. And the after wedding Clana scene was heartbreaking. Promise brought back my appreciation for Clana.

I'm not a Clana fan anymore, but I have to say that Promise made me want to see them together, at least for a little while. When Clark and Lana were talking after she had married Lex, and Clark was on the verge of tears while Lana was trying so hard not to let on what she had been threatened with, it was heartbreaking.

Geez....in that case just watch a Superman movie! Clark's only 20 years old. He's still far from being the 30-something year old version of Clark Kent who's Superman and he SHOULDN'T be acting like it yet. What is so pathetic about being in love with someone and hurting when you lose them? If Clark's love for Lana wasn't genuine, he would've been over it long ago. The fact that he isn't shows that he feels what he does a lot deeper than some people want to believe and I guess that's hard for Clana-haters to deal with.

I believe Jor-el said in some previous ep that Clark's greatest weekness was his human learned emotions. I think it's that "human-ness" that also makes him the iconic hero that Superman is (Clark will become).

I used to want clana to get back together. But after lana moved in with lex, I didn't see her as the same person she was before she got together with him. Some people change for the better and Lana isn't one of them. Now she's married to Lex, clana should be over and it doesn't need to come back.

Some people just have a hard time letting go of the past and I believe this is what is wrong with Clark. So much has happened since he and Lana were together that they cannot just expect things to go back to the way they were. They tried to make it work.. whatever went wrong happened and they can't ignore it now. She was engaged to Lex, promised herself to Lex, is pregnant by Lex.. all of those things show that she has moved beyond Clark.. now she knows his secret and wants to go back to the way things were and that is not possible. I realize they do love one another but to me, their relationship is doomed. Not only because of the Superman myth but because it took him so long for him to trust her with the secret.. or for him to feel safe in her knowledge of the secret.. either way, I think they should be over romantically but still have a close friendship..

And by the way, I'm not a Clana hater.. I'm just SICK to death of the same story over and over again. There is NO growth in these characters where their "love" is concerned. Its time to move on..

second, its not the same story over and over again. its a different one everytime.

they have been together twice. one time was short the other half a season. but their love is more genuine that anything on Smallville. and even lex said "everyday i wake up, hoping she doesnt see who i really am."

and through that line, he tells us ( the viewers) that his love for lana isnt genuine.

because if you were really in love with somebody you would'nt care what their personality is or what thye have done. so thats why you think its the same story over and pver again becauise some way, somehow they continue to forgive each other, willing to start a-new. And that is true love.

but that's just my two-sense

It may not be about superman but it is directly linked to him, just because this show is about clark kent as a teenager doesn't mean it has to be all about his love life. That to me is the point everyone who says that he is not superman seems to forget. Lana lang may have been his first love but she is not the only factor to affect his life contrary what to what the writers of smallville are showing these days.

His training teaches him about krypton and other planets, scientific facts and i beg to differ because i still believe it does matter. Even if the cape isn't on yet, he still needs to have other experiences besides lana lang.

I have to admit I have been a Clana fan since the pilot. However, the past year I really started to DESPISE lana for what she did to Clark. Using the comfort of Clark's best friend, LEX. I have been like SCREW the CLANA and hoped for them to move on.

Then I saw Promise last night and I totally fell in love with Tom and Kristen all over again. WOW...do they have chemistry.

I hope they have more scenes together. Even if they DON'T get back together I hope their friendship becomes stronger.

Their last scene I was balling.....especially when Clark said "I LOVE YOU" TWICE.

I just got to see the episode after I got back from Spring break vacation. It was bittersweet. I'm emotional; I'm glad Lana at least knows Clark is different. But Lex is a jerk.

You wouldn't know a lot of things are going on besides Lana Lang in smallville after watching that episode. I also, understand it's called smallville not superman but this is his life before he dons the cape and so far I can't see how he gets to that point from this drivel they showed called promise. I'm not saying others can't like it just that I don't. It's been 6 years and I expect more from these writers like giving clark other life goals, it just seems to me that every time i see him he's dealing with the same stuff over and over and over again. They need to finally let him grow up.

Since I imagine alot of Lionel thrashing has swept through here...

First, I think Lana's actions (and KK's performance) was totally roxzors. I didn't even wait to surf through the threads - I went ballistic and started a thread/pole all on my own - more a poetic dissertaion on how awesome Lana Langs character was in this episode!

Lionel however, the poor fool was just trying to keep his son from the brink that he knew that he had drove him too. No friends to turn to. Lionel asked that question of Lex cause he already knew the answer - Lex doesn't have anything human left...

After all - in Lionel's world "indescretions" are not unacceptable. I imagine Lionel is getting prepared to give her that nudge ... sometime after the baby is born .. ya know ... "now that the blush has worn off and the baby is old enough to leave with a nanny for a few hours or a day why don't you go visit an old friend I'm sure your just dying to see" it could worked out - in a twisted billionare world.

Too bad Lana don't play that way! She is totally gonna figure out a way to snake her way out of this f aux marriage and protect Clark at the same time (possibly getting herself killed in the process and most definitively sending poor Lexy into free fall), but I bet thats coming around 7x01 at the earliest.

Meanwhile Lana is totally in love with Clark again. Tthat makes me happy. How can anything go wrong now? The only thing standing between them is the Luthor family madness! Clana can destroy Lexonal! The Luthors will be destroyed by Lana's love for Clark!

Hmm, maybe watching all of smallville back to back strait wasn't such a grand idea for a holiday.. I'm getting kinda emotional about these characters....
