What about Clarks pain?

Unless I missed it, I havent seen anyone discussing Clarks pain.
My heart through this whole series has always been saddened by Clark and Lanas heart break. While Lanas suffering tonight was pretty rough so indeed was my boys Clark. Poor Clark this episode was very very sad. All I want before he becomes Superman and ultimatley falls for Lois, is some small measure of time and happiness that he can have with Lana, until its time to say their last goodbye and get some bittersweet but beautiful and well deserved closure. A lot of fans seem to think the Superman aspect of the story is more important than the love angle, but I dont believe Clark can grow without the love. It goes back to that very old corny saying "Its better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all!. My poor poor Clark!

I sympathized with Lana. I laughed at Clark...go figure.

He came across as pathetic in this episode.

Not just episode.
Jonathan, Alicia, Lexana, Raya, Clark is constantly in pain.
It is so sad to see.
Is it necessary to hurt clark so much to become superman?
How much pain can his kryptonian heart take?

Clark so called pain really pissed me off. I hope him seeing lana say I do to lex and her telling him that she had a change of heart and that she loved lex helps him move on. When I saw clark crying at the end of the episode, I wanted to jump through the screen and smack him! I can't stand seeing clark being a little wimp, he needs to seriously grow some balls and move on with his life and stop pining of lana luthor!

Tom Welling did an excellent job especially in the last scene were the limo is driving away... the crushed broken look on his face.. that was excellent.

Lex looked like that was the sole goal of that day... to see that look on Clark's face.

They better know what they are doing...this ep was messed... conflicting motivations from lionel... only hope we get it by the end of the season

Exactly. It is part of his journey. The pain he feels doesn't give him an excuse to go and act moronic in situations like the Lexana marriage.

Clark needs this rejection and betrayal so he can move on. I was sooo happy he didn't go the easy way out, like break up the ceremony.
Poor Clark this is going to hurt like hell but it's so neccessary for his personal growth.

I don' think this is necessary for his personal growth. It's just TPTB attempt at creating drama. You want Clark to grow and stop pining.....put Clark and Lana together with them happy.......IS IT SO HARD FOR THEM TO BE HAPPY FOR ONCE. I am sick of the sadness and the Luthor hate. There needs to be some happy endings.

Clark's pain? You mean all the choices Clark himself made to get him to this point? Like not telling Lana his secret when he should have? That Lana is ultimately responsible for her own decisions, especially the one where she accepted Lex's proposal all on her own and without duress?

I disagree because in life sometimes u can't have the one you want.For many reasons beyond your control even. Love hurts and one way to get to know yourself is to face EXTREME rejection.
For 1 2 3 4 5 6 years....they have tried to come together...even the forces of the universe have kept them apart. Clark should move on from here hopefully and never look back....but he will.TPTB can't help it.

Clarks pain was heart breaking for me . I hated it!!! I wish that Clana would happen for some short time before the Clois to give Clark just a ounce of happiness. It was so sad!!!! Even though Lana didn't mean what she said, it was horrbibly cruel. :(:(

.....yeah the scene where he is looking at lana right before she says "I do" was so great...I didnt know if Tom Welling could get that heart wrenching pain look on his face but he did and it was heart breaking to watch!......but I realized that at this time last year clark was telling lana he didnt love her to protect her and that is exactly what she said to clark on this episode. which has come full circle again! maybe this time next year clark and lana will be telling each other they love one another again!

It is so sad to see that a so kinfull, loving person must go though so much pain!!!! That is not fair!!!!
Clark deserve so much more!!!! Yes, he cannot grow without love! Lana was his frist big love and as Lana said she will not marry Lex anymore Clark's face was so full of happyness and also as he test in front of Shelby to ask Lana to marry him....
And than his whole world broked again as he saw Lana is her wedding dress and heard her painful words!
My heart cried for Clark!!! I felt/feel SO sorry! FOR BOTH!!!
I think he do not understand the whole world anymore (that is what we are saying in german) THE WHOLE WORLD!
All the questions which must be in his head and mind: Why did Lana say yes and than no? How could she do this to me? Why can't I find some happyness??? Clark asked Lana what Lex had done to her! Mybe deep inside of him he knows there is something wrong. But at the moment there will be too much pain!!!!
POOR CLARK!!!!!
