there was a spoiler from TV guide's michael ausiello (sorry, i'm not sure if that's the right way to spell it!) where he basically said that there may be a wedding but that didn't mean anyone was getting married...what is that all about!?

he's not always wrong...it's not like i was really thinking lana wouldn't marry him, but if that wasn't going to be true then it should have been retracted at some point. or maybe the marriage isn't legal...who knows?

What did you expect him to say and why does everyone take him so literally? If he said Lex and Lana get married, end of story, then why watch the episode? It is also possible that, at the time, it was the best information available to him. That there would be a wedding but he couldn't be sure if anyone went through with it. I was convinced at one point that Lana would never actually marry Lex, like a lot of people.

i always take his spoilers as coming from someone who wants you to watch the show. and he wants to keep being all buddy-buddy with the people who give him his scoops. they all seem to have a rule about "no biting the hand that feeds you."

Spoilers are not always 100% accurate.

Well, technically he wasn't wrong.
There was a wedding. Doesn't mean that there is actually a REAL marriage. :)

No, but I am just tired of everyone saying the same thing. Use your heads. He minimized the outcome either because it was the best information available to him at the time or he really didn't want to spoil the surprise. That's the entire point of spoilers: to get you to watch.

i'm not bashing the guy at all. i'm a TV guide fanatic, i was just wondering what happened to the whole "that doesn't mean that anyone's getting married" thing.

I agree with Nospam. People are taking the spoilers too seriously. Just be happy that we get ANY kind of info on future episodes. I don't even care if it's good news or bad news. I just get excited that it's new information!

It was the turn of a phrase. Nothing more. Why do people insist on making more out of it that was originally intended?

Think about that for a second. The spoiler appeared months before the episode and numerous rewrites and edits have occurred to many of the episodes between that time and now. There is simply no way Ausiello could know definitively what the plans are after the wedding.
The writers will find a way out of the marriage for Lana regardless of the circumstances of the wedding itself; it is irrelevant.

Maybe that was the direction the writers were heading when he wrote that information.
