Hi 'angeloo',

FINALLY, someone else is wondering about 'the Symbol'. I thought that I was going to have to go through Every page of this 'Speculations & Theories' Thread to find out whether or not the question had already been asked.

Ok, so I learned somewhere else in this forum that some fans here have learned the 'Name' of the Symbol. My spelling may be wrong, but it's being called or IS the 'Kanji' symbol.

I have a Theory. Since the first time I saw it, given the Theme of "Heroes", I figured that it looked very much like a portion of a DNA HELIX...a portion of a twisted ladder. The 3 steps or horizontal pieces/segments of the DNA Helix represent the Identifying Genes that Signify SPECIALITY, or that 'A POWER' is encoded and present within 'that' person's DNA.

The Mystery is that since Adam Monroe/Kensei is the oldest 'Hero' that we've been introduced to, and his Ancient, 400 year old sword boldly displays the Kanji symbol, HOW DID HE LEARN OF IT? Especially since modern science has only discovered the existence of DNA during the 20th Century.

Kensei wasn't even aware that he had a 'power' until Hiro explained it to him after he regenerated from fatal arrow wounds. Only a 'Hero' with the ability to 'Time Travel' and had been to the future and gone back to the past could have learned about the discovery of DNA sequences and the Human Genome as identified in the molecular structure of a Helix. BUT, how did Kensei come to use it as 'his personal symbol'?? Does it mean something Different to him? Is it an Ancient KNOWN symbol that has a Different meaning to those who are familiar with similar symbols? It also means that there May Be someone 'else' who contributed to Kensei's journey. Some 'mystery' Hero we haven't been introduced to yet. With Time Traveling abilities, he could be from the Future OR the Past.

That symbol is VERY IMPORTANT to the Heroes story. It surely has Great meaning. Tim Kring, as a guest on G4's 'Post Show' after an airing of 'Heroes', said that it Does have a Special Meaning and has Great Importance to the show. They keep trying to implant the symbol every chance they get to keep the mystery alive.

So, what do any of you think of my Theory? I have even More questions, but I'd like some input as to what you all think, please. :)

The symbol is actually called the helix not kanjii. So your theory is basically right. Kanji are writing characters.

Combining the kanjii character for "godsend" and the character for "great talent" creates a resemblance to the helix. This may be how it was originally formed.

:D Thank you so much, 'Matro', for your informative response. I see that I've mustered up some new interest in this subject, even if it's only you...so far.

I visited the "Heroes" Wiki, as you conveniently provided immediate access. I got to read what others have theorized and I wanted to add my own theory, but couldn't figure out exactly how to do it. I already created an account so that I might have the access to the site's editing privileges. Maybe tomorrow, after I've rested some, I'll be more alert and able to understand the instructions.

I have to add that most of the additional information on the 'Helix' site was new to me. I only have information from watching the series. I haven't read any of the graphic novels or whatever was 'extra' online.

So, again, thank you for your help. I'm glad that you found my theory interesting. I hope others see/read my theory and add to my thoughts, too. I'd like to explore it more while hoping to have more questions and theories addressed. :\

Good posts, but I have something to add. Am I the only one who thinks that Kensei origins beginning in Japan so long ago is weird. Adam did not even know he had a power, so how could he have manifest a power not knowing that he had one. I have a little theory about our friend Adam. What if Adam origins did not begin in Japan 400 years ago but (this is going to seem pretty far fetched but) he is actually from the future. Just think about it. But is it possible that Adam was sent back in the past by someone in the future. Adam already had the power of regeneration and technically cannot be killed. What if Adam was some sort of mental manipulation (like the Haitian’s power) and a time traveler to place Adam back in the past could have started these events of present date. I know this seems a little weird but I believe it is possible. Think about it, if the story of Kensei was actually the story of Hiro, then this would mean the past and the future are tied together. So a time traveler could have taken Adam back in time. I agree with the previous post that I also, found it weird what Adam told Peter that “We can change History”. He should have said that we can change the future. By the way, I still believe that Peter was the one that saved Claude on the bridge when HRG shot him.
