Do you think at any point perhaps next season or in the following seasons of "Heroes", we will see any of the main characters don "costumes". I'm not talking spandex. I mean, more along the lines of the costumes we've seen on Smallville, like a hoodie and sunglasses? Or would you prefer no costumes at all and feel the show would have become too campy if they wore them?

I'm torn:
On one hand, it's a comicbook-based series and one of the staples of comicbook superpowered people is costumes so it would make sense for costumes to make an appearance (along with nefarious schemes, world domination, resurrections, and "mwu-ha-ha", monologuing villains).
On the other hand, it's based in the real world (ie Texas, not Gotham or Metropolis) & so isn't bound by aforementioned comicbook traits.
In fact, the style of Heroes is quite similar to the movie "Unbreakable", in which the hero did don a costume of sorts, but not one that was overtly a superhero costume. So, as a compromise, I'd want the Heroes to wear Matrix-esque type costumes: ones that we would recognize as being superhero costumes, but would still be worn in everyday life by the Heroes.

Costumes have a tendency to wind up looking campy no matter what you do. For this show I think the no costume approach is best for now. If they are going to do costumes at some point stick with the way Future Hiro looked. The only thing that really stuck out was the sword. Keep it simple. Even Smallvilles' costumes were a bit overdone for a live action show. If they had muted the colors just a bit That would have been cool.

Hmmm. hard to say how that might fit into this universe. I guess you'd have to ask..Are costumes necessary? They seem to be mostly for the reason of concealing identities...

I kinda like the few non-traditional "costumes" they've introduced. Such as when Claire was alway in her cheerleader outfit. And Future Hiro with the trenchcoat and sword. It's too bad Claire's probably gonna be losing her cheerleader outfit for good since I'm sure she won't stick around town and still go to school after Company Man. And Peter's "trenchcoat getup" is pretty cool as well. Nathan also seems to have a sort of costume with always wearing the same looking suits. Even though this show isn't giving them "real" costumes they are actually still doing it since they always put them in the same "type" of clothes each week. HRG has a costume too, and his Claire-bear picked it out.

yeah I guess costumes do seem kind of pointless when I think about it. Heroes usually wear them to conceal their identities from their enemies, but on this show, the Heroes enemies pretty much already know who they are.

Costumes are more than a disguise; they are also a symbol what a hero stands for and a representation of who they are.
Examples:
Spider-Man: primary colours, so you know he's a good guy. Has a spider on his chest, because that's what he draws his power from.
Batman: dark colours, and is designed to be as fear-inducing as possible, very true to his nature and his brand of justice.
Captain America: ... need I say more?
So though the enemies of the Heroes know their identities, costumes could be used to show they're a team (similar styles for everyone, a la the X-Men movie costumes) or have symbols to remind the enemies how they can deliver a butt-kicking.

I think this all falls under the debate of "Do the clothes make the man or does the man make the man?" Costumes do not a hero make. It's not about what they wear but what they do. I think costumes in this setting and with these characters would be pointless and unnecessary. It would be like watching that reality TV show crap with Stan Lee choosing who gets to be a superhero. No thank you! Leave them dressed the way they dressed. It looks realistic and some of them have cool clothes anyways.

Well so far I've noticed that Sylar has had the only costume as such, wearing the baseball cap to cover his face in shadow, clever idea and gave him that eeary and mysterious feel. Also have you seen what they did with Claires character, they put her in the cheer leader uniform just a subtle costume as such fi you see what I mean.
Also if you noticed when Peter jumped off the building in Genesis he was wearing a red hoody, the red hoody could have connotations with Supermans red cape.

and as Midgard Dragon mentioned, Future Hiro with his ninja look and sword; and Nathan always wearing a business suit. Yeah I think it'd be better if they just stick with this kind of trend. It's simple yet gives them that subtle look of a superhero.

yeh subtlety is the future, thats whats going to make these kind of shows stick to contemporary issues. Also their clothes reflect who they are, and thats the point in a costume anyway.
Only reason they will want a costume is to conseal their identities, if they choose to become superheroes.
Some may want to ge rid of their powers as Mohinder is creating some sort of drug to get rid of them, so they may just take that option.

I love costumes on superheroes, but these guys are clearly going to be working as a team, right? Well a team of people who are genetically different in costumes sounds a bit familiar doesn't it? We already had Stan Lee in a guest appearance, do we really need X-Men/Fan4 overkill and put them in group costumes?
Plus, Mohinder, who would be the "organizer" or the team, doesn't seem like a costume guy.
