View Full Version : Ah, Chloe, I can think of at least two freaks that never murdered or went psycho...

Kyle Tippet, Hug, and Kevin Grady, Blank, are both freaks that never murdered anyone or went psycho. In fact, they were both well adjusted, normal guys.

I could probably think of a few more if I tried.

Well, Kyle did kill his evil ex-partner, since he was the better salesman of the two.

But since her categories were dying or ending up in Belle Reeve, those two ARE exceptions.

You guys are analyzing this too much.
99% of meteor freaks some how end up getting screwed.
Wouldn't you be scared to be one?

Now if I were the one to have telekensis...I'd make it pretty difficult to obduct me.

Ryan wasn't a meteor freak, if I recall.

My point is, just like Clark's powers, the powers do not define you so much as you define the powers. Many of the past meteor freaks proved that they could not handle the stress and responsibility of those powers.

I can name a few too. Casandra Carver from Hourglass, Earl Jenkins from Jitters (it wasn't his fault), Ryan from Stray, Byron from Nocturne (wasn't his fault either), Kyla from Skinwalker (ok so maybe she shouldn't be on this list, but I liked her), Sarah from Slumber, the kid who could see people's deaths from Hereafter, Alicia from Obsession (she falls in the same category as Kyla), Evan from Ageless, and our new buddy Tobias.

There might be more, but thats a pretty good number of them.

No, so far as I know, [Smallville] Ollie has no special powers, just sweet gear and wicked-sick skills with a bow.

And when Bart meets Clark the first time, he tells Clark he's never been anywhere near Smallville before.

Exactly. Bart and Ryan both had powers that did not result from meteor infection.

True, but her wayz of describin them was because she was scared that she'd become 1 of them. She knows not all ppl infected r bad,but she knew the stats for them survivin were slim. She seem more scared that she'd become dead or locked up/experimented on more than anythin, which is why I think her comments came out that way.And why clark had to reassure her that nothin will happen to her.But I agree it was funny lana was all for them tonight, when jus earlier seasons she wish none of them existed/the meteor shower never happen

I thinks he knew that tho,she was jus lookin at her chances of bein locked up or dead.Cause not all look at meteor infected ppl like her&clark, sum would try to kill her if they knew.Which I think scared her,and why she mentions how many ppl she knows dead or in belle reeve.Jus imagine if she remember bein tied up and experimented on,she really would have broke down at the end.Thats why havin her mom later on exposed as not crazy will help ease the fear alil, atleast til she truly finds out if she's infected or not herself. But I think the thought of bein locked up/experimented on scares her, thats what I got from her discussion there. She thinks its only a matter of time before she's next, thnx god clark reassured her he's not lettin that happen

Well, the show has typically showed meteor freaks to be psychos. There have been a small number of exceptions. The problem is that the show has never really addressed this. They have given no real reason why meteor freaks would inherently have a tendency to go psycho. But the writers like the idea that Chloe is uncertain of her future. As a viewer, I am uncertain that there is any consistency in the writing.

True, there is an inherent danger to being a meteor freak in that others may see you as dangerous or attempt to manipulate you into using your powers for evil or selfish reasons. But it's up to Chloe to ensure that does not happen. It also got be to enormously helpful to know that Clark isn't going to let anything happen to her.

As you say, knowing that her mother is meteor infected may ease the burden emotionally.

Maddie was a second generation meteor freak (her dad was the original one).

And Jordan Cross (Hereafter?) is a nice guy that didn't kill anyone and isn't dead.

And Chloe's mom will be our own Jean Grey :)

As of right now, it looks like she is. But, I bet this is a big stunt pulled by tptb to get more people watching. It's finally a storyline that doesn't involve Lana. But who knows, tptb might forget about what happend and just go on like nothing happend. They've done that before :\

That part of Freak with Chloe being anti freak and Lana being pro-freak was like Freaky Friday. They did a complete switch out on their positions that they've had for 6 seasons and it made no sense. Lana told Lex she'd understand it if he was doing experiments on freaks because they have victimized them both. And Chloe has always been open minded and defended freaks including to Gabriel the guy who thought they should all die.

In an otherwise excellent episode, that part stood out as a big continuity mistake for the two characters.

I disagree. I think they want viewers to think Chloe is a Freak when she actually isn't.

That's what I'm saying. This is just a stunt to get people to watch, but really Chloe is normal. They want us to think she is. They want us to think Chloe is a freak, and they want us to think Lana is pregnant. They are just doing this to get people to watch.

When Chloe said that line I actually screamed out loud and shouted at my TV "why doesn't ANYONE remember Kyle Tippet?!".
I'd forgotten about some of the others but yes, there are quite a few who dont' fall into Chloe's categories. And I can't believe that Clark didn't point them out. (Ryan is NOT one of them though, his power was not Krypto-induced, that we know of.)

I can understand Chloe's point but she's generalizing too much. That would be like taking Zod and his minions as an example and saying all Kryptonians are bad. Jeez, Chloe bigoted much?

ox007

I think that it depends on a person whether he becomes a freak or not. Most of the infected people couldn't stop themselves from using their powers for their own purpuses. And after crossing aone line they started to cross other and other, worse lines. They were just weak and couldn't stop using their powers for bad things. They didn't kill by their own hands but by something they could cause or because they needed to stay alive. That is why I wouldn't generalize. I think it depends on a person and his will.

That one remark does not making Chloe bigoted against meteor freaks. Remember, Chloe defended the meteor infected to nuclear Gabe in "Hidden," and she is working to expose 33.1.

I think she was just having a reaction of panic and thinking about worst case scenarios. And you have to admit, despite the exceptions, the overall track record of meteor freaks is pretty bad. I think if she had said "ALMOST every meteor freak" is dead or in Belle Reeve (which by the way, neither category assumes that they were/are evil), we wouldn't be having this dispute.
