lol. that title actually made me laugh out loud.
After thinking about it, he wants to leave clues for lana.
He wants her to know.

Yeah, I'm thinking he subconsciously wants her to know.
Or...maybe one of Chloe's powers is sucking the smarts out of Clark, if he had any to begin with.

Maybe at that speed it's more of a reaction/feel. Maybe when he is at that speed, he's in a reaction moment, not a thinking moment.

i thought the same thing! I was like, why didn't you just catch the bullet, Clark! GEEZ!"

Maybe because Clark NEVER catches the bullet? Therefore it's not a matter of Clark getting stupider, it's a matter of those around him getting smarter and actually LOOKING for the bullet.

Clark never thinks about caution or consequences. All he know is that someone is in trouble and I have to save them.
Later on he then thinks about how to protect his secret.

lol...the title of this thread made me smile :).....nah..i think subconsciously he wants her to find out..plus..it's so much fun leaving bread crumbs for Lana!....she can have the lead female role in CSI:Smallville...finding all the clues...

Because there's nothing Lana can do with a bullet. So what if she finds it? What is she going to do with it? She didn't see Clark, she didn't see anything.

I'm surprised Clark didnt arbitraily throw the doctor across the room in a random direction after flicking the bullet. Its like he expected the blue phaser thing to reflect and kill him. I demand more random people. Like when he saved Chloe from the bookie while throwing a touchdown. He broke the knife, then whacked the bookie before running back to get tackled.

TOO RIGHT! It TURNS CLARK ON that Lana's got clues about him. In Trespass, he was quietly flattered to see photos of Lana taking photos of his barn. Playing it all cool

Come on. He was trying to do two things at once. He wasn't thinking properly.

Yep, since Clark found out Lana was suspicious he's been leaving Lana clues and using his powers more openly with her. I think the only reason he doesn't flat out tell her is because of the fallout from Reckoning and that situation is always in the back of his mind.

Well it may be a split second for humans, but for him it's plenty of time to think of what to do, don't you think?

okay, as much as i think he should have caught the bullet and taken it with him...he's obviously waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay smarter than before. if this was season 4, he wouldn't have run. he would have been standing there with a dumb look on his face afterwards like, "wow, what happened...i...uhhhh...just got here...." In season 2, he probably would have brought an ultra high speed camera with him...
so no, he isn't stupider. his stupidness is decreasing...lol.

Actually she ruined the surprise he was going to go back later and make it into a necklace and give it to her as a wedding present the note saying: While in my room and in my drawers did you smell my boxers too? (Last week's episode)

Sigh the guy gets no break. He did what he could do in the situation, Have any of you ever been in a car accident? Or heard about cars that have lost control--Why don't the people pull up the emergency breaks, or jump out the car--its because at the time that thought isn't crossing your mind.
Of course some people manage too--but not everyone gets that lucky.

They wanted Lana to find the clue to keep her on track on Clark. Plus maybe they are having Clark doing this to leave clues for Lana

He caught the bullet in Fade and in Extinction.

No in season 2, he wasn't stupid. He was smart until Chloe found out his secret, and then to include her in the story and prevent Clark from solving everything before she can have input, they had to turn him into a BDA (in season 5).
In season 2, he did the coolest thing in Heat---he vaporized the bullet with his heatvision. I was saying "vaporize it with your heatvision" at the TV screen yesterday. Man, that would have been good.
He was much slower in seasons 1-2 also. I remember in Hug, he couldn't outrun the bullet and it hit Kyle. In Obscura, he was still slower than the bullet and stuck his hand out to cause it to ricochet into a mirror above Lana, which shattered and started falling towards her, so he had to jump and cover her. In Hug, when Lex shot him, he was eventually hit by several of them.

Me think comparing old clark stupid level to new clark stupid level, that new clark stupid level lower then old clark stupid level.
Erhm, Clark is not stupid, if he took the bullet it would be equally baffling to Lana.
"Gee Clark, happen to know where the bullet I fired ended up?"
"The important thing is your safe."
"Yeah ok." *angry look*
Their conversations always go the same way no matter what evidence she has anyways.
and as a side note, WTF THE DOCTOR HAS A PHASER!?!?

Well, it didn't go the same this time. I think Lana is realizing who the good guy is & who the bad guy is (at long last). You could see from her face that she no longer trusts Lex.
And the doctor isn't the first one to have a phaser. I think Ollie had one in his arrow in Arrow.

lol, yeah but at least the GA's serves a purpose a normal bullet/arrow wouldnt, it STUNS someone!
This guy's phaser is a fatal blast, why spend money developing something which serves the exact same purpose as a gun?

I assume Lex is behind it, so he would know. He would have the money to fund & create such a weapon. And Dr. Bethany did work for him.
What do you think Lex did to him that killed him?

Clark's always leaving bullets around, the ones he deflected or those that he did catch. It's not OOC for him :D Remember that time when he saved Lex from getting his brains blown up in Extinction? He caught the bullet, and simply plunked it to the ground.

honestly i think he looked kind of disappointed when tobias said he told lana clark was the most normal guy he knew.

Somehow i find it hard to believe that Clark has never caught a bullet before and just leaves them anywhere he wants.
Think about how many times the police would come in to check out the situation. Eventually they would have to come across a bullet

The phaser was probably designed for the purpose the doctor said, he said it would stop the heart, thus the phaser causes heart attacks and it looks like an accident, but in reality it isn't. With a bullet there would be a big old hole and a bullet left in the body as evidence of a murder and not an accident, which is probably how he managed to make all of the other freaks look like accidental deaths.
As for Clark not catching the bullet it is all for plot development, plus he was probably too pre-occupied with all of the crazyness in the room with the bullet and the phaser charge, and I wonder if he even realized that the phaser charge would deflect off of him, maybe he thought it would just stop dead in its tracks like a bullet would, I can't think of any other valid reason why he would allow for the doctor to die.

Episodes in which Clark caught a bullet:
Extinction (though again he dropped it in front of Van)
Red (he shot them in his hand; I wouldn't count this though)
Exile (at the bank robbery)
Fade (in the hospital; did not drop it)
I think he also caught it in Fanatic when that sick girl shot at Jonathan.

Nope, In Fanatic, Jonathan found the bullet on the floor. Though he stopped the bullet, he dropped it. So it does not count. Fanatic deleted scene 6 shows Jonathan holding the bullet to Clark and thanking him.

He didn't catch the bullet because then Lana wouldn't have yet another clue to help her try to solve the mystery of Clark Kent.

Yeah, but Fade does count. In Exile, he had a mask on and dropped the bullets when he told Edge's men to stick to balloon animals.

I think that did not have anything to do about Clark being stupid or not .......because he may be a BDA but not stupid ......... I think was just the reflection or a reaction thing .......maybe If he would´ve caught the bullet ......Lana would´ve see him .....or something like that ..........I think it was a smart choice .....I loved that scene .......
*sorry for my English writing.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :\

Probably the writers never stopped to think the scene would be analyzed to the n'th degree.

The episode where clark gets 'super intelligence' will come hopefully sometime next season in an episode titled, "brain".

Every time I think of Clark's intelligence, I can't help but think of a scene in Simpsons where someone questions whether or not Homer is qualified to work at the Nuclear Plant:
Grimes: I've never seen him do any work around here. I mean, what is his job?
Lenny: Safety Inspector.
Grimes: That irresponsible oaf? A man who, by all rights, should've been killed dozens of times by now?
Lenny: 316 times by my count.
Grimes: That's the man who's in charge of our safety? It.. It boggles the mind!
Carl: It's best not to think about it.
Or, in a Smallville context:
Aquaman: I've never seen him be proactive around here. I mean, what superhero will he be in the future?
Green Arrow: Superman.
Aquaman: That irresponsible oaf? A man who has had several opportunities to don spandex by now?
Green Arrow: 316 times by my count.
Aquaman: That's the man who'll be in charge of the safety of the world? It.. It boggles the mind!
Green Arrow: It's best not to think about it.

LOL.
If this is the biggest problem in an episode, then I'm willing to let it go. There were a few other things that could have been done better, but I liked this episode very much. The bullet thing was done on purpose to get Lana to wonder.
