He's such a clown but I have a feeling he did a good job...of course a huge part of how good a job he did depends on what he was given to work with (storyling/writing)

his sometimes clownish behaviour is deceptive, JG has often commented about how serious MR is about his job.

I am just surprised it took until halfway through season 6 for him to direct an episode. I was wondering why he didn't do one before-whether they(producers) would not let him, or if he did not feel ready. Tom Welling already has 2 episodes under his belt.
Does anyone know?

Lighting, closeups, reflections, background, music, tempo?

Started bad in the alley but zoomed up the charts. I give him a 10.
That scene with the gps chip was pure gold.
Lana protecting clark was good writing.
Lex's eyes at the end....priceless.
Some of it I could have cared less for.
But the intense scene between Clark and Chloe made up for it.
And the whole "I swear on my unborn child", and Lana confronting Clark once again.
So I gave it an 8!

I gave it a 10. I loved the last scene with Lex looking at Chloe and then zooms into his eyes.

Man, best episode in a long time. I was either on the edge of my seat or up jumpin and yellin...man...crazy.
Excellent work directing though. Anyone notice the color of the lights in the background behind Lana during the "It's ok if you were a meteor freak..."?
I thought the ending was...a little rushed and could have dwelled a little more on the evilness of Lex. Probably strapped for time though.
UGGH! I can't wait for the next one!!!!

He was great.
-The scene with the laptop in the hospital.
-The scene in the Talon with the GPS chip and the makeshift surgery.
-The superspeed at the end where he hit the bullet and took the shock.
-And the final closeup on Lex's eyes.
All those scenes had awesome direction. 10/10 for Rosenbaum.

Not since "Cyborg," in Season 5, have I seen a better directed episode, shot for shot.
Rosenbaum should be commended. I can't wait to see another episode directed by him.
It also didn't hurt that this was definitely one of the better episodes this season.
Clark used multiple powers for different situations. All were necessary given the circumstance.
Allison Mack also did an amazing job acting.
I loved Lana finally confronting Clark.
The Freak of the Week was actually one of the better actors.
I also think the twist with Chloe was plausible given the way the writers sold it.
AWESOME

Lex was just overall evil this episode, Lana was way more devious, Chloe definitely on edge, and Clark as clueless as ever.
I think the actors "act" better when its one of their own doing the directing.

Michael Rosenbaum did a great job directing this episode. It was exciting, it made sense, and it kept me interested 100% of the time!

my Rosey's amazing! I believe this is something he should persue. a Michael and Tom Productions.
I liked the bowling alley scene. Lots of bright colors. I liked Chloe jumping out of the way of the van. I liked Lex and Lana posing in front of the mirror like a married couple in a picture frame then afterward Lex and the doctor posing there. I liked how Lana is figuring out Lex and Clark and you can tell that she can tell they are lying through there teeth. I definately felt the characters where more like real people then two dimensional characters. Also we got a different shot of Luthor Manor.

10; a fantastic episode that stands out of the crowd. I think the characters [and thusly the actors themselves] were highlighted in ways that showed their strengths. There were so many great scenes. The way in which the scenes were directed, made me take notice and really care for the characters and their situations.

I'd give him a 8.
Some scenes were not shot as dramatic as what I'm used to seeing in the show.
But MR gets an 8 because it was good enough not to disturb the storyline, the Clark-burning-a-hole-Chloe scene was interesting, and he caught the character expressions whenever neccesary. Well done Mr. Rosenbaum!! :D

02-16-2007, 08:33 AM
Wht I like was that the storyline wasn't just to simply progress a point across, like in Crimson the whole lipstick was just a cheap ploy, but in this everything fell together.
I want to see Chloe, Lois, and Lana direct an episode I think it would be pretty good.

I didn't know that Michael directed that I gave it a 10.
I had to vote it a 10 - I thought it was pretty well done. There were a few things here and there that could have been replaced by something else.....but overall I thought he did a really kick ass job. Nice to see he keeps Lex evil when he's directing instead of making him sappy and sorta good.

Rosenbaum is the bomb!!! This epi was utterly amazing!!! I can't understand how this is only his 1st time directing an epi!! It seemed like he's been doing this forever. I loved how he used the simple things to get across a point, and that Chlark scene in the Talon was pure brillance! I don't think that anyone would be able to pull out such great performances from the actors other than him. And I def. agree with whoever said a couple pages back that it seems to be that the actors deliever much better performances when it is one of their own directing. Maybe because they trust their direction a lot more than the direction of some stranger. AMAZING epi Mike!!! Can't wait till you do another one!! :D :D

I gave Michael a 9. It wasn't perfect (that's what I consider 10 to be) but it was darn close.
As much as I enjoyed Welling as a director I have to say Rosey blows him out of the water.
Freak was extremely well directed and Michael really rose to the challenge. I was very impressed!
And not only was Rosey's directing fabulous but his acting really seemed to go up a notch as well.
Can't wait for Rosenbaum to direct another episode. He really seems to have a talent for it.

MR did an outstanding job directing Freak. He should do it more often. I think he is truly in tune with the spirit of the show, as well as what the audience wants. He showed Clark being more like Superman than ever before. Chloe dealing with the fact that her life was at risk, and that she is indeed a meteor freak, Lana being okay with the fact that Clark could have been a freak, Jimmy being his panicky self, and Lex becoming more and more evil (not to mention angst free Clana as well as a very touching Chlark scene).

Michael is a better director than Tom. The episode that Tom directed, alot of the shots were very soap opera-y, especially a scene near the beginning that I totally made fun of how it was shot, and that was before I knew that Tom directed that episode. If Michael directed this episode, then I say he did a great job. I couldn't tell it apart from the episodes directed by seasoned directors.
