that everyone seems to think Niki and Jessica are separate people? I keep seeing all the newer threads mention the idea that one power is the superstrength and the other is to jump bodies.

I think that is overanalyzing. She could just be a normal person with multiple personalities who has superstrength. Keep in mind a couple of things (WARNING - SPOILERS):

1. Niki broke the nightstick in jail. It was clear she was surprised when she did it. To me, this indicates that the body has the strength and the mind (2 personalities) just needs to be healed.

2. In last night's episode, Jessica seemed surprised that Matt could hear her talking to Jessica - again indicating that she just suffers from a split personality, since she would only be having that conversation in her head.

This may seem a bit snobbish, but I'd take out the "could" and just say "is". I don't think there is any question about wether or not she just has split personalities. Although the super-strength is hardly normal.

its obvious that the manifestation of jessica is not natural.. the RNA tattoo would not appear just cause niki thinks shes two people... sorry to blow that out of the water but there is more to support two seperate entitys joined because of a power than her just being superstrong and a skitzo

Agreed, plus the idea that she can never really be rid of Jessica is infinitely more interesting to the viewer i.e. 'me' than heroes in therapy. There is so much more that can be told if they are two seperate conciousnesses in the same body.

i just think it suspicious that from day one they lead to believe split personality without ever truely confirming it. One of the great things about the show is all the curve balls they serve up, so I'm not quick to by into anything the writer's want you to assume is "true". Plus, we know Jessica was real at one point, Niki's dead twin. I have to ask myself why the writers would have Niki take on the persona of her dead didter and not a tottaly new identity if it wasn't tied into the plot

The only reason I could think of would be because of what Jessica represented to Niki. If we take what Jessica said about the events leading up to her death as being true [constantly enduring beatings and being killed by her own father], then we can assume that Niki saw Jessica as the only one at that point in her life who was willing to stand up and protect her from harm. Jessica claims she sacrificed herself to keep Niki safe - thus creating in Niki's mind Jessica as the epitome of strength and symbol of survival. Jessica helped Niki survive and died in the process that is going to leave a lasting impression on a young mind/pysche. It also ties into the connection often felt between close siblings and twins [think Peters ‘feeling’ that Nathan had being injured], whenever Niki is threatened Jessica comes out and protects her. Truthfully, I'm glad the writers decided to show that Jessica was a real person and that she had a deep impact on Niki's life rather than concocting a random personality.

I think that the theory about Jessica having a body switching power (found in the heroeswiki.com theories about characters section) is a good explanation, and would support the above post.

Also, why would Jessica have the Symbol as a tattoo if the personality thing didn't have something to do with powers? i really don' think that the producers would do something like that and just let it be a coincidence.

Also remember that Matt heard them talking. Until that point Jessica/Nikki had only come out one at a time. Now all of a sudden someone else heard them. That is why they seemed surprised. Of course it couldv'e all been in her head and Matt just heard it. Now also keep in mind she shook the mirror the other day when she wanted jessica to let her out. That is part of the reason I believe in the mirror jumping theory. Now another good question to ask yourselves would be is "why only Nikki"? Why not jump into others? On one of the other post, some believe it is not Jessica at all but she is possessed by the monster Ursula.

i don't think jessica jumps into nikki's body. they are identical twins, the only diffence is the tattoo. jessica physically pulls nikki into the "mirror realm" to replace gerself. that's my theory

actually speculation makes you open minded not dense.. and if ur so smart buddy why dont you explain the tattoo that jessica takes time to hide when she switches with niki... i dont know about you but ive never met a skitzo who could manifest a tattoo out of nowhere and have it dissappear when they switch back.. all the mirror zones and body jumping makes a whole lot more sense than her just being crazy, besides im sure the writers know that it would be INCREDIBLY lame if that was so. personally i support the body jumping theory

a dead person in her sisters body an turning evil in it is stupid.jessica is a multyple personallity disorder, which i think is cool, cuz it shows that people with certain illnesses or dissabilities can b `heroe`s`and it shows what its like for someone with a mental disorder 2 control their powers, making nikki not able 2 activate their powers unless she`s `jessica`

first of all nikki is not crazy, greg beeman said that niki's power was actually going to be the power to be able to be in two places at once which rooted from her being a single mother but then changed to super strength, the appearance of craziness is just leading to the point where she learns how to control her powers and ultimately jessica. in the episode where jessica has to kill malsky, both nikki and jessica were out at the same time which was why jessica was so suprised when she passed by the mirror and failed to see nikki there. nikki my guess will be able to manifest her powers and be in total control of her super strength and the abilty to bring jessica out both of them may make peace with each other. the nature of her powers though will be explained later in the show with 23 episodes this season it could be explained in the next 5 episodes or next season - WHICH IS WAY TO LONG TO WAIT FOR!!!

I thought I saw her in two different outfits. Was I crazy or did someone else see it.
