View Full Version : Where Was Lois This Epi?

Just for fun! :D I know Erica is only contracted to appear in 13 a season so no big surprise when she makes a disappearing act BUT in the SV world, where was Lois during the events of Trespass?

It was really weird that Lois didn't get mentioned. It is LOIS'S apartment afterall.

Chloe is living there as well.
Lois is obviously in Metropolis working two jobs. She still works for Martha and also has a job reporting for the inquisitor. That would keep her busy and away from Clark and Chloe, especially during the week. We'll just assume she'd busy working.

^^But it is not Chloe's place so I hate it when Chloe keeps calling it my place.
Anyway, I think Lois must be somewhere trying to wash that tattoo away from her skin but in vain... :D

Good one! ;)
I'm not surprised we didn't get a mention. Most people move back and forth between Offscreenville and SV without much explanation.

Hmm... dauntingly rational. :D

LOL. Those fake tatto's come right off with baby oil you know. Maybe she needs Chloe to google that bit of info for her.

Sure. I voted for Taking notes for Chloe & Lana's Met U classes so that they don't get dropped
When is MetU going to get reopened anyways? Isn't Chloe working at the Planet as part of an intership? Doesn't that imply that she has to be in school in order to keep it.

Thanks, I was awfully curious. :D
As for the continuity question, I think that's something that should be asked of Al Gough during his TV Guide answer sessions. This show does not promote college education in any way! It's a good thing I graduated just as I was getting introduced to the show.

Time is always a factor in these episodes and lines are often cut. Only those that are an absolute must are usually kept. They just figure you'd asume she's busy working or something. Having Chloe say "Oh Lois is busy in Metropolis on a breaking story about a scandal involving the mayor . . ." would kill too much screen time that has to be used for Lana's episode plot.

And yet, they always make time to mention why Lana is gone when she's not in an ep. It's Lois apartment, therefore there should have been some sort of explanation why she wasn't there.

It's treatment like this that puts Lois firmly in a "returning guest star" category, sadly. Ah well. SV goes on.

I'm gratified but sorry that you are in the dumps. :(
Lois wasn't needed for the epi but she might've protected Lana better at the apartment if she was there, so her absence was. :D

And one line is all it would take. It was like that episode in Season 5 where her apartment was used and no mention of her at all. :\

That should definitely be asked ignoring school isn't good. At least have the characters take online courses or mentioning the school reopening.

I really find her unmentioned absences annoying... especially when Chloe is crashing at her place!
As for the school issue, I agree they could've had the characters still in college amongst all this. I guess they wanted to save money with sets and stuff :s

It was nice seeing Lana drop in to the place that she created and it was also nice to see that lois wasn't even mentioned.
Did lois ever thank Lana for what a great job she did in creating and re-modeling the movie theatre?

It really pisses me off that they can't find their way to include one line of dialogue that mentions Lois' strange absence from her own apartment. Its not about liking the Lois character or not. It just makes the show seem strange and fake when you have this big hole that no one addresses. They've done this a lot this season, and its awful!

Yeah, I agree. They should take the time to mention where Lois is. They could even say that she is off working on a story or something, it's bad that she is never mentioned.
Charissa70
02-09-2007, 10:07 AM
they sent her off looking for shelby... Previous weeks, Lois was looking for the Kent's horse. Success!!!!
Actually, she knows that she is Clark's future, but she can't stand the present (Lana) rubbed in her face. And there is no present options for her in Smallville for her right now.
I actually saw an article I think on E! and they asked why characters never say 'goodbye' 'hello' on the telephone- and they (writers) said it wastes precious screen time. Guess CW/Smallville producers/writers figure it would waste too much to explain/make-up, where she is- and we know that the CW seems to have gotten really cheap. After all, writers could not even put in why Lex's father was not at his son's engagement party. That would have taken 'My father sends his regrets he couldn't be here tonight, he is in .......... taking care of Luthor Corp. business.' That would have taken, what, 15 seconds, satisfying viewers but upsetting the timing of the writers/producers. The producers don't seem to understand that we need this, something, for continuity......

I think, as a 13-episode character instead of a bona fide regular (like Lana or Chloe), they don't really need to explain her absence as a rule. They should just have a longstanding probability like "working her two jobs right now in Metropolis" "visiting Daddy" or something.
Having Lana stay over w/Chloe at what is technically leased as Lois' apartment w/o a mention was the only weird aspect but then, she was only there for a few hours. *shrug*

It would not have flowed so slowly with Lois there.

Yeah, I thought of that too. :D No way Lois would've let Lana remain so vulnerable. Not in HER house! Gotta love the Lifetime heroine routine. ;)

I chose: Interviewing at the Daily Planet while her cousin isn't looking.
Imagine one day Chloe will walk into work and spot Lois hanging around. Chloe will ask Lois what she is doing. And Lois will gleefully inform Chloe that they are now working buddies. Cue Chloe's jaw dropping to the floor.
And on that note, with Clark hanging around Chloe so much at the DP; I'm surprised the other workers haven't taken notice. Someone by now should've mistaken Clark to be an intern. I'm still waiting for the episode when an office worker hands a stack of papers to Clark, points him towards a Xerox machine and tells him to 'make it snappy'.

Lois was just to nosey to make this plot last an hour.

That would be hilarious... I hope they do that.
I chose: doing Martha's senatorial duties so she could appear on the show for a few minutes.
I have to say that I would be more laid back about Lois's lack of mention in this episode if it wasn't for the fact that it was Lois's apartment.
(And, no, it's not Chloe's apartment. It's Lois's and she's letting Chloe stay there. And probably without rent, considering that all of Chloe's internship 'salary' should be going to her wardrobe, new Yaris, and the gas money to commute 6 hours a day to Metropolis.)
It was especially noticable in the scene where the stalker-man leaves her the present at the Talon. After Lana called out Chloe's name, she should have called Lois's name to see if Lois had come home... it would have made sense given that Lois lives there.

Oh yeah... there's no way a guy that looks like Tom Welling could come into my workplace without all the women stopping what they're doing to just stare at him for a few minutes.

On a side note -- isn't that kind of weird that she said that in "Hydro"? I mean, she's still an intern, right? And every internship I've seen has "photocopying" in the job description. What's up with that?

Mentioning video games reminds me... Since not only is Lois an impassioned video gamer, (Jason remarked on Lana's enjoyment of gaming in Facade) I would LOVE to see a fun gaming tournament a little like the karaoke in Pariah. :D
This time Lana and Lois competing in front of the screen with a laughing Chloe cheering them on and maybe Martha or Clark watching smilingly from the door.
