Ouch is exactly what I said. After watching all of the past seasons and coming this far with this show, I truly felt Clark's pain.

Great great scene.

Why can't Clark say something to Lex? Why does he have to take it? Why couldn't he be like, "You may be marrying her, but her heart will always be with me and that must be killing her." Or how about "If I wanted you dead, you would be."

I loved the scene was kind of disappointed when they took out some of the other dialogue b/w them, but those were some very hurtful words.

For a second, after Clark said "Sorry" and then Lex was rude and then when Lex said "I want you there... to see what you lost." For a second and with each episode, i wonder if theyll be friends again but i know itll never happen. Its downwards from here. Theyre becoming even the more arch enemies theyre destined to become.

I liked the Crimson scene better. I guess they are just setting Lex up for his big fall.

What was some more of the dialogue that was cut off?

It's sad seeing the friendship go, but this scene was EXACTLY what I want out of the Lex/Clark enmity. False cordiality, clever dialogue, great acting. More, I say, more!

Its so painful..remember when they liked each other? Aw good old Clex

I did not like very much how one-sided it is now with Lex taking all the shots and Clark not retorting much. But the the Clex scene was nice.

I loved it. I really enjoy it when Lex makes Clark life hell!! :D

Isn't it great though that even though we know where Clark and Lex are headed, when they throw in lines like this we still want to believe that Lex can come back and not be evil.

And Clark not saying anything is very Superman-like.

I am guessing that Clark took Lex's bashing because he still feels guilt over the ass whipping that he gave Lex.

After the last episode, you knew Lex would have to do somethin to get Clark back

Personally i didnt really like the line too much, a little to soap opera for my tastes

Shows how deteriorating their relationship is becoming. "When I thought you mattered." I know Lex is pissed about Lana coming back to the man who almost killed him, but by just saying that one line at the end shows that it IS a competition and it IS about possession.

I loved this scene! But it reminded me of how it may all be nullified if/when Lex gets a memory wipe.

If this show never shows why Lex won't recognize Superman as Clark, I'll always think back to the intense looks of hatred Lex gave Clark in these episodes and think to myself..."theres no way in hell Lex won't know Clark is Superman in the future!"

So hopefully theres a clever way around that :D

It's funny Clark may thinks he's lost...but in reality (maybe not even anytime in the near future) Clark will realize he is better off without Lana and (maybe it won't happen on SV...which by the way is fine) he moves onto to the greatest love of his life.

boywithbluehanger

One thing I found silly about that line is that Clark doesnt feel as if he's lost Lana...he's the one who broke up with her! He wants her to move on! The only thing Clark feels is that Lana is making a big mistake. He even proposed to her in Crimson just to keep her away from Lex!
(Good thing she was smart enough to see that Clarks moved on and was trying to pry her from Lex's corruptive grip.)

So Lex's idea that Clark is jealous or that he feels he's lost any chance to be with her is crazy. And we all know it is too. Lets face it, if Clark would have sincerely asked Lana to marry him (after revealing his secret of course), she would have said

"oh gee, yes Clark! I love you so much more than I do that bald uptight a-hole!"

Kryptonian-Ronin

It was a sad display for Lex.

Considering that he knows Lana still loves Clark and that Clark broke up with her, I am sure that deep down Lex is playing that game of game with Clark, though, if It was anyone else, Lex would not have liked to hear the retort from them, but Clark is too much of a nice guy to rub it in that Lex is getting what " Clark chooses not to have".

Can you imagine Lex pulling that line on Oliver, if, fro example, Oliver had broken up with Lois and Lex had taken adavantage of that to get her to get to Oliver?

Something tells me Oliver would not be as nice and polite as Clark, that big boy Scout.

Tough words but I don't see where Clark lost anything.. he let Lana go because of several contributing factors and I can't help but believe a part of Clark wanting Lana now is that Lex has her..

You gotta give Clark props for being a gentleman and putting up with Lex's bull-crap! I would've just made like Jonathan Kent and said "I'll thank you to get the hell off my property!"

I really don't understand what Lex means when he said what you lost....Clark broke up with Lana

and isnt Lex kind of stuck with Lana b/c he knocked her up (or so i am supposed to believe at the moment).

Clark: Yeah, some loss, Lex. I'm losing a girl who snoops around in my drawers, takes pictures of my room, says nasty things to me, and invades my privacy. And I'm losing the friendship of a man who's going to try stab me with kryptonite later on. Yeah, that is some loss.

They certainly did. Although it's funny how at one point or another both Lex and Lionel tried to make atonement for their mistakes but Jonathon always seemed resentful of them no matter what they said.

I like how they're making Lex a badass and letting Clark move towards being a superhero. Clark knew he had that coming after what he did last week crashing their reception, revealing that Lana was pregnant, kidnapping her, and almost killing Lex

While Clark is the hero he did mess up big time in Crimson (even if it was because of RedK. Not reacting to Lex is a huge step in the right direction

Lex's words to Clark were definetely hurtful, but they in no way impressed me. Kids in high school are more vicious than that. In my eyes this was a pathetic and childish display by Lex, I want to see more intelligent and mature evil on his part, like what I saw in Justice.

I agree, I was thinking along the same lines regarding lex's portrayal this episode.

Have to agree also. It also seemed to me like another example of Lex wanting everything Clark has as opposed to focusing on any actual feelings for Lana that Lex may have. Sad really because in the end, whether he was to actually have Lana or not, he still won't win because as someone said earlier Clark doesn't end up with Lana anyway in the future.

i like that Clark didn't respond--very Superman.

I thought Clark handled it very maturely, & it shows his character development, because there have been times when he wouldn't have...
I also miss Clark & Lex's earlier friendship- @ the beginning of the show Lex was my favorite character- but it's Lex's destiny to become a bad guy & Superman's arch-enemy, so that's the way it goes.
Like in real life, while there is some room for choice (in the case of Smallville on the part of the show's writers), the future has been written already. (Think about that)

Clark had it coming, IMHO. Make sure you RSVP.

Lest we forget that Clark (in his red-k fueled stupidity) flung a baby rattle at Lex's face, effectively shaming him in front of everyone who's probably going to be attending the wedding later ... so we can't blame Lex for being a bit sore about that. And how many times is Lex just going to let Clark try to kill him and pass it off as temporary craziness? And it doesn't help that Lana -still- runs off to the Kent homestead whenever there's trouble a-brewin'. Lana wasn't going to be safe in LuthorCorp.: she was right about that. But back to the Kent farm?

The papparazzi angle was interesting to see because it showed that Lana's now in that insane celebrity bubble that Lex has grown up in, with all its risks and exposure.

Yes, Lex's vengeful wedding invite was petty -- but totally expected. Lex is through hearing Clark's "I wasn't myself" or Lana and Chloe's "He's on something" default alibis. Lex's 'doesn't' know Clark's secret (yet), so all of his nutty, possessive stunts actually look like the act of a jealous ex-boyfriend who can't let go.

Clark has to deal with the fact that he let Lana go. He chose that route. Lex needs to get a backbone and call of this engagement from hell. If Lana weren't carrying his heir and he didn't have this need to seek vengeance, would he put up with playing benchwarmer for Lana's feelings?

Lex and Lana should just go to Vegas to get hitched -- Martha and Lionel can be there as witnesses -- and be done with it. Let everyone else read about it in next day's Daily Planet. Barring that, Clark deserved to be put in his place this time.

Doesn't Lex fear Clark after he escaped a near-death experience..i think his scene with Clark was kind-of forced.......i mean...the guy actually ruined his party..threw him on a stack of glass.....kidnapped his fiance...n choked him to death....!!!!! he should atleast be having like 10 bodyguards to guard him before even he enters the Kent field...!!!!!

Lex is lucky Clark was off the RedK, he may have just hacked a loogie and blown the back of Lex's head right off !

Though when Clark moves towards Lex and asks him of that's it, now that was nice, you could almost picture Clark turning lex into his own personal hand puppet !

All about Clark
02-12-2007, 01:46 PM
Clark did decide to let Lana go. He even wanted her to find someone. But he's back peddled as soon as that someone was Lex, who he hates most. So I think he wants her back to get her away from Lex. If it weren't for Lexana, I don't think Clark would be wanting her back right now. I think it really upset Clark when in Vessel Lex said he wanted everything he had.

And Lex always takes advantage to hurt Clark whenever he can, it was good to see Clark take it so well. Lex used the word lost, but Clark did give her up on his own. Crimson only confirmed to Lex that he was indeed hurting Clark.

I just don't get this scene. Couple of months of Lana whining and Lex will beg Clark to take Lana back.

As good as Clark's intentions were when he broke it off with Lana, he did choose to break up with her and all this carrying the torch drama Clark is displaying would make any "the next boyfriend" angry. So, yes, I think Lex has a right to take Clark to task. If Clark looks deep down, he's gotta know that Lex/Lana is a consequence to a dcision he made. Yeah, he probably does feel guilty and afraid for Lana. He was trying to protect her, and all he did was put her in imminently more danger. And everyone knows how Clark goes off with his guilt complex. He probably could have backed away from Lana if she was with someone less Lex-like. He'd still love her probably, but he could convince himself that she is better off without him. He can't do that as long as she is with Lex.
