In the Director's Cut, after Lex left at the end, Clark picked up the chisel wrapped in the red cloth.
That was cut out.
Why? I thought it would have been a good ending.

At least now I know who has it.
they're saving it for another episode, I guess.

Maybe they changed their minds and they don't want you to know Clark has it, yet. I thought Lex had found it till I read this.

Or maybe they changed the whole story there and LEX has it? Hmmmm...
hmm now if you missed the directors cut you wouldn't know that Clark stole it back. lol. Lana might think Lex took it. Lana's eyes sure got big when she saw her necklace. lol. Turned white.

That's what I think too. I originally wasn't worried when Lana didn't see it because I was waiting for Clark to pull it out. But now I am worried that Lex may have it.

The more I think about it, the more it seems Lex may have taken the chisel. Doesn't he still have security cameras in her room?

yea i told my mom i was like i already know who has it, haha. she goes, "WHO" i go, "Clark, don't worry u'll see it in about 2 minutes probably.." and they never showed it. i was like... "!@#$"
Aww, i dunowinks, that sucks!
I was the same way, too.
I thought, "Oooh, now we get to see the chisel!"
And BAM! The credits started rolling.
Definite disappointment.
I'm hoping they still kept the storyline of Clark taking it.
It seems right that way, like there's a chance of Clark revealing his secret to Lana.
With Lex having it ... well, I just don't like it.
they could have put the chisel scene in the director cut to throw us off so that we would expect this coming. Maybe Lex really does have it? Who knows?

No, Lana asked him to take out the cameras in an earlier episode and Lex said that he needs them for security but hell take out the one in Lanas room to give her privacy so she would stay. That would have been cool if that would have left in Clark having the chisel but that would have also of been disappointing as well. I want Lex to have it and study it and ask Lana questions to see if she lies some more. We need some more evil Lex. If they dont make Lex have it, i guess they could have MM have it after being invisible and listening to Chloe tell and show Clark the picture of her having it and almost knowing his secret. He could steal it to protect him. I dont want Clark to have it, that would be a let down. So many possibilities for the chisel in my opinion to have it wasted on Clark getting it back.

I just don't get why Lana has her own room. She's pregnant, meaning they've had sex. She's engaged to him too. Shouldn't they be sharing a room?
Anyways, I would bet that Clark took it because he knew that she had it. If he knew about it and left it there, he would be asking for Lex to find it.

I was super disappointed when they didn't show the part with Clark with the chisel. That was a key point.

By not showing who took it, they leave it open to be almost anyone really... keeps things interesting. Maybe they changed their mind about who they wanted to have taken it?? we shall see

Pretty sure Clark still has it but they are waiting to show it off later
I take Lex at his word when he said investigating Clark is no longer important

Clark could have fixed the whole thing:
All he had to do was heat vision the chisel and forge it back to normal. Put it back on the table where it was and BAM...no one knows what happened, case closed...

I don't think they can change their minds too much. A lot of shooting for stuff is done weeks and months in advance, and these episodes are only a week or two away, not enough time to do all the editing, etc if they had to change the whole storyline (which changing who took it would likely involve), so is likely they are still going to go with the original plot, but mess with the fans for a bit to wonder instead of spelling it all out...

Steve DeKnight stated on his blog that the episode was 15 minutes too long and scenes had to be cut......I guess the Clark chisel scene and the Chloe crying with Clark scene were the victim. I suppose they could change the story now......and say Lex found the tool instead....guess we'll have to wait and see.....

Or they ran out of putty to do the "clark bending chisel back into shape".

I want Clark to have it. This at least shows that Clark is doing what he can to keep his secret. Maybe not so much from Lana, but from keeping Lex discovering it.

yep it was to shorten the ep... although I personally think we could have done without some of the endless, slow-paced "Oh noes! Lana's being chased! Gasp! Now Lana's being chased AGAIN!" scenes in favor of the chisel and Chlark.
Serious overdose on the Lana this episode.

dave73085, totally agree
If Lex ends up having it that's fine, but if Clark ends up having it than it was lame to cut the scene out. Cut out some of Lana running.

This being Smallville, who ever has taken over from Dr Swann, Lionel, Lex, Chloe or Clark may have the chisel.
I had forgot about the DC version of that scene I'd seen, but some how presumed that Clark had got it when he caught Lana.

That surprised me too. I was like, "isn't that kind of important?" But if Lex has it, then it's all good because that would probably make for a pretty cool twist.
I liked the whole scene better in the Director's Cut. The music they added distracted me from Lex's dialouge, which was some really good and important dialoge, imo.

Well, I'd say it's not Lex's decision to sleep in seperate rooms, but Lana's. She's the one who doesn't appear to be quite sure she wants to through with all of this. Lex probably isn't very happy about it.

ITA. Music was too distracting and made it seem like a Clex breakup scene or something :p

That's what I thought at first too, that the music was taking away from the scene.
But I realized later I only thought that because I had seen the scene without music first so that's kind of what I was expecting. After rewatching, I like it a lot better with the music.
And I really hope Lex doesn't end up with the chisel. I'm sick of Lex-almost-knows-about-Clark because in the end, he won't.
At least with Lana chasing Clark's secret, we know she could actually figure it out.

I said, "My God, it looks more like Clark & Lex are breaking up!" :rotfl:
They used to throw the Clex in from time to time. It had been awhile.

haha all we needed was a slow motion, meaningful glance over the shoulder from Lex back to Clark, and fade to black...
