I don't even think it was a pause. I think when Clark realized that Jimmy thought he was confirming he liked Chloe, he came in with "as a friend". I don't think he purposely paused.

Exactly, Clark set the record straight once and for all this episode, and Chloe confirmed what she really wants in this episode as well and that is Jimmy. I didn't see her all torn up about her feelings for Clark, I saw her all torn up about the breakup with Jimmy. She seemed extremely happy to me at the end when they got back together.

I was pretty upset after this episode...but after I thought about it more it wasn't too bad. I think Clark is letting Chloe and Jimmy be together because he realized last week he has been keeping Chloe in his "back pocket." He doesn't want to do that.....that's why he's drastically nicer to Jimmy and so on. He's stepping out of the way because he does care about Chloe so much, more then friends....for sure. That's why I loved this episode...it shows how much he cares about her....he's willing to step aside. :)

His love and appreciation for Chloe as a friend are very real and sincere, just like how he admitted to her in Labyrinth.

The backpocket comment from Crimson is ONLY from the romantic viewpoint. He had never seen her as more than a friend, and if he wants to hook up with her, that's when the 'backpocket' status comes in, because it means he'd be just settling for her and she's just a last resort for him. And Clark knows she doesn't deserve that at all. Heck, no girl deserves that.

I guess I'm thinking Martha told Clark in the last episode that everything he said in Crimson has some truth to it and he has to be the one to sort that out. In a way he did. Clark has never been a Chimmy fan...he always cringes when they are together, etc. Now he's all for it? I know he is chloe's friend and wants her to be happy....but I really do think the other part is he knows he's been saving her in his back pocket for a rainy day, and it's wrong. I'm not convinced he has no feelings for her.

After watching this episode, I was SO P*SSED! I can't believe that Clark didn't apologize to Chloe for his behavior at Lex and Lana's engagement party. I thought for sure that they would talk about it this week, but of course, they didn't. IMO, the POWERS THAT BE probably want to show Chloe moving on from Clark. They also wanted to show that Clark only saw Chloe as a friend. I DON'T BUY IT!:confused: This scenario almost seems TOO FORCED. I think that the writers wanted US TO THINK that everything was okay between CHLARKIMMY. If you watch Subterranean again, take a look at what this episode was trying to accomplish. The writers were dropping so many anvils that it was hillarious:D

EXAMPLE #1: Javier asks Chloe if Jimmy was her boyfriend. She replies with Definine boyfriend. DUN, DUN, DUN. . .Clark walks in.

EXAMPLE #2: Jimmy tells Chloe that Clark is madly in love wih her, and she replies by telling him that the anchor is planted firmly at bay. Chloe doesn't say that the "ship has sailed," meaning that CHLARK'S relationship has been put on hold.

EXAMPLE #3: Clark INTERRUPTED CHIMMY'S KISS. I wonder why he did that?;) PLUS, Jimmy implies to Clark that they should try to be friends.

ALL of this led the audience to BELIEVE that CHLARK will NEVER HAPPEN. HOWEVER, take a look at the episodes before and after SUBTERRANEAN. There are STILL CLEAR SIGNS of a CHLARK SET-UP ;)

I personally don't believe the scenario that they offered tonight. It's just TOO FORCED! I STILL THINK THERE'S CHLARK HOPE!

Oh, I also thought that it was VERY INTERESTING that he had a picture of Chloe on his desk, and where was Lana's? IN THE DRAWER:lol:

TPTB have written the show around the fact that Clark loves Lana. I don't care how many times Clark said he and Lana were just friends, the viewer knew he was in love with her. Chloe, not so much. If he's in love with Chloe, I can't tell.

i have to admit after shoutin out loud it helped calmed down my nerves:lol::rolleyes: but then i realized that maybe he jst doin what he think is right and that's steppin aside. It doesn't change what Chloe and Clark share. Their relationship is the strongest, most intimate on the show. Lots of married couples have commented on how they already act like a married couple, they just don't have the romance/sex part yet. They have the foundation to a lasting relationship, and once Clark grows up and realizes this, it'll happen.

This is JMO but Clark was being Superman in this episode. By that I mean he put Chloe ahead of his own feelings. He still loves Lana and DOESN'T want Chloe to be a second choice

So Clark purposely went out of his way to put Chloe and Jimmy back together. The last thing he wants is to be the reason they broke up

Does Clark love Chloe as more than a friend? I think the answer is yes but he must move on from Lana first. To do that they need to tie up all the loose ends

Er I brought up Lana, because someone else made the comparison between Clark's saying that Lana was just his friend and his saying that Chloe is just his friend and saying that in both instances that wasn't true.

I was just pointing out that their comparsion wasn't apt. Might want to ask that other person why they brought up Lana :D

And I would not deny that Chloe and Clark have a very solid friendship on the show. Clark himself was just assuring Chloe's guy of that, and that they were nothing more than friends :)

And why is having a really great friendship so bad and seen as JUST some consolation prize? Chlark friendship is going strong and will continue to do so. That's cool.

As for the rest of it? I don't see that Chlark have a romantic relationship and may never on the show. Who knows? That could totally change. Thankfully I can't read the minds of AlMiles, who knows what damage that could cause my little grey cells.

Clark has always been overprotective when it comes to his ladies, Lana, Chloe or Lois, so it's nothing new to me if he claimed "we're just friends" to any suitors who tried to woo the girls. Crush is just another example of it. Him being at loggerheads with AC in Aqua was practically a subtext of his jealousy towards AC/Lois, almost a B-plot in itself, but we don't have people ordering bridal gowns for Lois right away, do we?

Clark made it very clear that he's being honest when he said that "As a friend" line. He even swore on it. And why would he want to lie to Jimmy about something like this?

Well, frankly, I think we've wanted Chlark so badly that we've been deluding ourselves seeing signs where there are none. Maybe I'm wrong, but as the season has progressed, I am increasingly convinced that while TPTB were initially building toward Chlark, they have now dropped that angle to appease another ship. There's nothing wrong with that either, but it does make the Chlarker in me feel letdown tremendously. Oh well, that's what I get for caring what happens on a bloody TV show, I guess.:lol:

Well I think there is still time for the Chlark annual kiss....that then goes absolutely nowhere.

There are 7 more episodes to go, right? Including the finale, Chlark kiss could totally be in that. Like a Vessel redux. Leading to Zod redux in the beginning of season 7 where it's ignored. Or since AlMiles seem to be so fond of kicking it Old Skool SV style lately, they could do a redux of the end of season 1 kiss, that then went nowhere in the beginning of season 2. But hey, at least you Chlarkers gets kissage. Think about those poor Clexers, doomed to a life of unrealized mackage.

Sarcasm aside (for one brief moment) why give up hope? Not as if AlMiles know what they hell they're doing, they could totally change on a dime and go full tilt boogie Chlarkage...before the show ends and sets up Clois as destiny. So yeah, lots to hope for. I don't know if that was terribly hopeful, but I'm filled with bitterness about Clana's returning.
